“How has life been in Bolivia recently?” Broly asked.
“The air is great there, and Isabella is very well-behaved,” Alejandro replied, lighting a cigarette. “A year ago, I never imagined I could live this kind of life. Thank you, Broly.”
If Broly hadn’t helped him eliminate the Reyes cartel and kill Felipe, Alejandro would still be consumed by hatred and guilt, far from starting a new life.
“That’s good,” Broly responded.
Apart from Kakarot, Alejandro was the person he trusted most.
“Are you planning to go after the Osborn Corporation?”
Broly didn’t hide his intentions from Alejandro.
“Yes,” Broly nodded.
Alejandro shook his head. “Your plan is too rough. Sure, with your power, the chances of success are high, but if you cause some trouble for Osborn first, distract them, the whole plan could be much easier. You’ve got a great card in your hand—Dr. Connors. You’re the only ones who know he’s the Lizard.”
“He’s also in charge of that project. If he publicly accuses Osborn Corporation, most people will believe him.”
In New York City, at the Veterans Hospital, the Osborn Corporation held the majority of shares, and most of the management were Osborn’s people.
The hospital primarily housed soldiers who had lost limbs in war. These soldiers, who had sacrificed everything, often suffered from severe post-traumatic stress disorder, plagued by nightmares and irritability. Unable to care for themselves due to their physical disabilities, they found themselves confined to this hospital.
These soldiers had enough financial support from military pensions and insurance to afford long-term care in the hospital.
Dr. Radha stood by the window in the director’s office, coldly watching the disabled veterans struggling with their mechanical limbs. They staggered awkwardly, often falling to the ground with clumsy movements.
In Radha’s eyes, these people were ugly and useless, merely occupying resources. Their best purpose was to serve as test subjects for scientific progress.
Turning away from the window, Radha placed a briefcase on the director’s desk. “This contains the serum for the next experiment. Choose a few of the weakest soldiers and take them to the underground lab for injections.”
The Osborn Corporation was eager to proceed with human trials because their chairman, Norman Osborn, was on the verge of collapse due to a genetic disease that had plagued his family for generations. Despite suspecting that Dr. Connors had transformed into the Lizard after injecting himself with lizard DNA, they were still pushing forward with the trials.
“When someone is drowning, they’ll cling to even the weakest reed,” Radha mused.
“Use the highest level of biohazard containment, and make sure all subjects are properly restrained. If the experiment fails, they’ll transform into lizard creatures,” Radha said, his tone ominous.
“What about the Brooklyn Bridge incident?” the director asked in shock.
“That was our dear Professor Connors in action,” Radha replied with a smirk. “Ensure there’s a military presence on standby to sedate or dispose of failed subjects.”
Neither of them realized they were being watched from afar.
Using a long-focus camera, Alejandro snapped several photos, focusing on Dr. Radha and the briefcase. He sent the images to Dr. Connors.
“Are you sure this is the lizard serum?” Connors asked with a hint of excitement over the phone.
“Without a doubt,” Alejandro replied coldly. “Radha is still targeting those soldiers.”
Alejandro’s expression was calm; he had seen too much of this kind of cruelty before.
“Then we can move forward with the next phase of our plan.”
At Stark Industries’ press conference, Tony Stark finally made his reappearance after disappearing from the public eye for an extended period following his kidnapping by the Ten Rings. Ever since his escape from Afghanistan, Stark had been keeping a low profile, remaining in his Malibu mansion, far from the media.
He sat on the floor at the front of the stage.
“Hey, everyone, why don’t you all sit down? This way, you can see me better, and I can be more relaxed,” Tony said as he pulled out a burger and began eating.
“My time in Afghanistan was the most dangerous, surreal period of my life. Even now, I still wonder if what I experienced last month was real or just a dream.”
“But satellite images have confirmed a harsh truth. There is a massive crater there, and a group of superhuman beings who stand above us. For centuries, they’ve remained hidden from our view. When faced with them, ordinary humans have no defense—we lack the ability to counter them.”
A murmur spread through the crowd of reporters, who initially assumed Tony was referring to mutants.
“No… they aren’t mutants,” Tony corrected.
A screen flickered to life, displaying footage of Broly rampaging in Mexico City. In the video, the Mexican army was hopelessly outmatched, with Broly laughing as he dismantled infantry fighting vehicles with ease.
The footage then shifted to a battle between Wang Xuan and a unit of U.S. military tanks. Filmed mostly from the perspective of the tanks and soldiers, the video showed that the military’s weapons had no effect on Wang Xuan, as soldiers were effortlessly slaughtered.
The second video caused even more shock than the first. For the first time, reporters were seeing how powerless Earth’s strongest army had been.
“We are completely helpless in the face of such monsters,” Tony continued. “There might be more of them, each with different attitudes toward humans. They maintain a fragile balance among themselves, but humanity’s fate must be in our own hands, not at the mercy of others.”
Tony Stark, once prideful and untouchable, had been humbled after being easily defeated by a powerful superhuman like Huoyun Xieshen. But instead of despair, this experience reignited his fighting spirit.
“From now on, Stark Industries will be increasing its investment in military technology. We’ll develop stronger weapons to ensure that our soldiers have the ability to stand against these monsters.”
