Back home, after waving goodbye to Pepper, Lan Xingyu felt like he had been liberated. He thought he’d rather go solo against Thanos than go shopping with a woman again—it was just too scary.
Entering the house, he immediately went back to his room and lay down in his soft, cozy bed. A wave of drowsiness swept over him, and he pulled the quilt over himself, turning over and officially transforming into a salted fish as he lay on the bed. Soon, he fell into a deep sleep.
When Lan Xingyu woke up again, the sun was already setting. He stretched his small body and walked outside, only to find that Tony hadn’t come out of the lab yet. Lan Xingyu was a bit surprised; do all these science geeks work this hard?
Just then, JARVIS’s voice sounded: “Mr. Xingyu, a notification for you. Your package has arrived.”
Oh, so fast? Lan Xingyu walked outside to pick up a small package. He opened it directly, and inside was a glass case with the first-generation Arc Reactor. Around the reactor was an inscription: “Proof that Tony Stark has a heart.”
Yes, this was the first-generation reactor that originally should have been removed by Pepper and then made into a gift for Tony. But since Lan Xingyu had used a magic spell to help Tony replace the reactor earlier, he added a couple of healing spells: “Cure Heal,” a spell that can heal all external injuries, and another spell to remove all negative conditions from a person’s body. Lan Xingyu discovered that this spell could perfectly cure Tony’s palladium poisoning as well.
So Lan Xingyu asked JARVIS to contact a workshop and have this made.
Perfect timing to check on Tony’s progress with the armor. He went to Tony’s lab and saw Tony just finishing up the propulsion device on his legs, preparing for an experiment.
Lan Xingyu walked into the lab, and Tony noticed him.
“Hey, Xingyu, good afternoon. You came just in time. I’m about to test my newly made thrusters.” Then Tony said to the camera, “Alright, initiating manual control, take it slow. Let’s see if we can achieve lift with ten percent thrust. Three, two, one.” Tony bent slightly as he spoke.
Seeing this scene, Lan Xingyu laughed. Indeed, timing is everything, and it’s hard to tell if it’s his luck or Tony’s.
As soon as Tony pressed the switch, he flew straight up. Seeing that he was about to hit the ceiling, Lan Xingyu flashed and caught him.
“Nice backflip. Congratulations, you’re one step closer to a black-and-blue face on your road to self-destruction,” Lan Xingyu teased as he put Tony down.
“Ah, thanks! Looks like I was a bit too aggressive. I need to improve the stability of the thrusters. Good thing you were here. By the way, your money has been converted into Stark stocks. Pepper brought them over a while ago, but you were resting, so we didn’t call you. Have you decided which school you’re going to yet? There’s only a month left before school starts.”
“Oh! I’ll check it out later. As for the school, I’m still considering. There’s still a month, no rush. By the way, here’s a gift.” Lan Xingyu placed the gift on Tony’s work desk.
“Don’t get too emotional. I’m heading up for dinner. Need me to bring something down for you?”
“No, I’ll eat later. Bye.”
Lan Xingyu went upstairs, “JARVIS, can you connect to Chinese TV programs?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Help me search for…”
Eleven days later, in Tony’s lab, Lan Xingyu watched Tony’s experiment. Tony was struggling to fly in the lab using thrusters on his hands and feet. After landing, Lan Xingyu walked up, “Congratulations, Tony, you can fly now.”
“Yes, I can fly now.”
“Is everything else done?”
“Yeah, it’s all done. Have you ever flown under the night sky, Xingyu?”
“Uh… no, why, do you want to go for a spin?”
“What do you think?” Tony said with a sly smile.
“Alright! Show me your new armor!”
A series of robotic arms appeared, helping Tony assemble the armor. The scene was full of technological flair.
After a series of cool adjustments, Tony took off, not waiting for Xingyu.
Lan Xingyu shrugged and turned into a beam of light to catch up, flying at the same speed as Tony. Tony’s excited laughter echoed through the communicator.
Tony seemed to be getting carried away with the flying and said to Lan Xingyu, “Xingyu, how high have you flown before?”
“I don’t know, I never really measured.”
“Want to race?”
“Sure.” Lan Xingyu took out a small magic crystal secretly. Like master, like student!
Tony and Xingyu turned into lines, then streaks, shooting up into the sky.
Unfortunately, the scene from the original story where Tony freezes and falls didn’t happen. This left Lan Xingyu a bit disappointed, but it made sense. Now, Tony’s armor was made from the metals Xingyu provided, so there were no such problems. They eventually turned back after reaching 100,000 feet.
Tony landed on the roof, and Lan Xingyu took out the small glass sphere, looking at Tony with amusement.
“What?”
“Nothing, let’s go back!”
Tony, puzzled, nodded and deactivated the thrusters. Then… “Thud.” “Boom.” And then came the sound of car horns.
Lan Xingyu approached Tony, “Tony, your house isn’t up to par. Shoddy construction. Tsk tsk tsk! By the way, look at this.”
Tony watched the projection from Xingyu’s recording sphere, showing his own actions just now, and instantly felt deflated.
Joking aside, Xingyu still helped Tony to the mechanical platform, assisted in removing the armor, and cast a healing spell on him.
Instantly, Tony was rejuvenated and began addressing the issues that had just appeared in the armor, as well as working on the color scheme.
Seeing that Tony was fine, Xingyu prepared to leave. If it weren’t for wanting to see Tony’s first flight, he would already be playing Monster Hunter World. Yes, Marvel also had Monster Hunter, and it was updated faster than in Xingyu’s previous life. The Iceborne expansion was coming out in a few days.
After telling Tony, Xingyu left the lab. He sat on the sofa and said to JARVIS, “Raise the keyboard, open my Monster Hunter, I need to start raising my cat!”
Yes, Lan Xingyu liked Monster Hunter because he could have a Palico!
He entered the game, went through the initial story, and started creating his character and cat. He chose a male character and quickly finished. To be honest, the characters in Monster Hunter weren’t particularly attractive, giving Xingyu no desire to customize them. After all, this was a game about raising cats.
Compared to the player’s character, customizing the Palico was much more fun. Finally, Xingyu created an adorable white cat with black stripes, feeling satisfied with his creation.
Just as he was about to continue the story and start hunting, Tony came up from the lab. He said to Lan Xingyu, “I’m going to a party, want to come?”
A party? Lan Xingyu’s eyes lit up. Wouldn’t there be a lot of good food? He wasn’t sure what to eat tonight. Going to a party sounded like fun.
“JARVIS, finish this part of the story and save the game for me, please.”
Then he said to Tony, “Sure! Let’s go, let’s get some food!” Since Xingyu could only eat at the party, he was excited to go.
Lan Xingyu and Tony arrived at the party venue. As soon as Tony got out of the car, he attracted exclamations from the crowd. Lan Xingyu said he would play around on his own and disappeared. He didn’t want to end up in tomorrow’s news; who knows what strange headlines would come out, potentially ruining his chances to show off in future school life.
Tony saw Lan Xingyu slip into the party on his own and didn’t pay much attention. After all, with Xingyu’s strength, no one could bully him.
Lan Xingyu teleported into the party and immediately spotted a well-known figure, Stan Lee! Unable to resist, he decided to have some fun. He secretly transmitted a message to Stan Lee: “Next time, which universe are you going to, old man?”
Stan Lee looked around in surprise, but saw no one. Then Tony patted him on the back, causing Stan to look in another direction and see nothing. Tony’s unintentional assist completely confused Stan. What was going on?
