Lan Xingyu and Tony were flying towards Kormira. Lan Xingyu slowed down to match Tony’s speed.
Kormira was Yinsen’s hometown, now threatened by weapons developed by Tony’s company. This made Tony feel very guilty.
When they reached Kormira, it was already daylight. Lan Xingyu didn’t want to reveal his abilities so quickly, nor did he want to be spotted by the lurking journalist. During the flight, he developed a new skill: Gold Form.
This skill allowed Lan Xingyu to transform his body into light particles and then reassemble them into a humanoid form standing 1.8 meters tall. This skill was inspired by an anime he watched in his previous life and it allowed him to stay hidden perfectly.
Tony was puzzled by Lan Xingyu’s transformation into a glowing figure. “What’s the point of this? Isn’t it a hassle to maintain?” Tony knew that Lan Xingyu’s body would automatically turn into light particles when attacked. Adding this form seemed unnecessary since those who couldn’t harm him still couldn’t, and those who could, would still be able to.
“Why do you need to transform like this?” Tony asked.
“Tony, what do you think superhero masks are for?” Lan Xingyu responded with a question instead of an answer.
“For blocking the wind? For looking cool? My mask is for analyzing things and protecting my face,” Tony replied.
“No, Tony, you’re wrong. The things you mentioned are part of it, but they’re not the main reason. Tony, remember, superhero masks aren’t to protect themselves; they’re to protect the people around them,” Lan Xingyu said solemnly.
Lan Xingyu was very opposed to Tony publicly revealing his identity in the original story. Yes, the Avengers all revealed their identities, but apart from Hawkeye, did anyone else have people they needed to protect?
Captain America woke up after seventy years, with no one but a frail Peggy Carter to care about. And even she was heavily guarded due to her involvement in founding S.H.I.E.L.D. Characters like Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Black Widow were solitary figures. Thor’s family wasn’t even on Earth, so there was no one to threaten. Hawkeye’s family had to live in seclusion to stay safe.
Lan Xingyu hoped Tony would realize the importance of keeping his identity secret to protect those he cared about. In the comics, when Spider-Man revealed his identity, Aunt May was attacked and nearly killed.
Lan Xingyu didn’t want Tony to become the comic version of Iron Man, so he emphasized this point.
Tony fell into deep thought. Lan Xingyu didn’t disturb him. They were close to Kormira now. Lan Xingyu used a new spell: Search. This spell allowed him to locate anything within a 300-kilometer radius.
Lan Xingyu discovered that not only Kormira was under attack, but another town 200 kilometers away was also being attacked. Additionally, a convoy of five tanks, over twenty modified jeeps, and more than a thousand terrorists were heading towards that town.
“Tony, I found another town under attack. Let’s split up. You go to Kormira, and I’ll handle the other town,” Lan Xingyu suggested.
“Okay, be careful,” Tony replied seriously.
With a nod, Lan Xingyu turned into a stream of light and vanished.
In less than a minute, Lan Xingyu arrived at the town. He saw terrorists about to execute civilians. Activating his Super Speed mode, enhanced by two spells, he became a golden flash moving through the crowd. In an instant, all the terrorists were struck down.
Lan Xingyu demonstrated his Golden Flash title perfectly, appearing in mid-air between the town and the approaching convoy. The terrorists noticed him and began firing. Tanks aimed their cannons at him.
Seeing this, Lan Xingyu smiled. He extended his hands, and a golden staff appeared in his grip.
Waving the staff, Lan Xingyu recited, “From the depths of Ao Lai, the fragrance of flowers; with the Ruyi Jingu Bang, ten thousand demons bow.” He threw the staff towards the terrorists. A massive explosion followed, leaving nothing but a crater.
Lan Xingyu contained the shockwave with his magic to prevent it from destroying the town behind him.
“All done. Why am I so amazing?” Lan Xingyu said, striking a pose in mid-air before turning into a golden flash and heading to meet Tony.
When he found Tony, he saw him being hit by a shell and tumbling down. Watching Tony roll around, Lan Xingyu couldn’t help but laugh. Worry? No way! With the Asgardian materials Lan Xingyu provided, a shell that couldn’t even breach the original armor wouldn’t stand a chance.
Lan Xingyu telepathically communicated to Tony: “Wow, what a spectacular tumble! Don’t worry, I recorded it all for you. No need to thank me.”
Tony’s already gloomy face darkened even more. Now he was certain, Lan Xingyu was a mischievous rascal wrapped in a cute exterior. Just because he showed some affection in front of him, was this payback? No choice, he couldn’t win against him! So frustrating!
“Jarvis, create a new file: Anti-Prank Armor Series,” Tony muttered, then charged at the tank that shot him, flipping it over his shoulder and firing a small missile at the overturned tank.
Then he walked away, not looking back at the explosion. Real heroes never look back at explosions! Lan Xingyu, still a child at heart, ignored the heroic stride and stored away his recording device.
Seeing Tony approach, Lan Xingyu playfully remarked, “Tony, your house must be poorly built. Look at this mess! By the way, check this out.”
Tony saw the projected image of his fall, and his mood soured. Was this really necessary? That cute and obedient Lan Xingyu from the cave was nowhere to be found. This mischievous Lan Xingyu must be an imposter!
Ignoring Tony’s internal grumbling, Lan Xingyu signaled it was time to leave. They had been out long enough, and Pepper would start worrying soon.
Suddenly, Lan Xingyu remembered Tony’s iconic scene of being chased by two F-22 Raptors.
Sure enough, two fighter jets were heading their way. To avoid complications, Lan Xingyu cast a spell.
“Invisible,” he whispered, and a ripple of magic rendered them both invisible. “Let’s just use a portal to get back,” Lan Xingyu suggested. They had flown enough.
Tony agreed, slowing down. Lan Xingyu opened a portal, and they returned to the lab.
After saying goodbye to Tony, Lan Xingyu returned to his room to wash up and sleep. After all, he was still a child and had spent the night flying with Tony and dealing with terrorists. Though his body could handle it, his mind was tired…
