This was a spacious living room, decorated in an exceptionally quaint manner. However, it was a place that many sorcerers dreamed of visiting. It was where the Ancient One taught her disciples, and where she and other top-tier sorcerers held discussions. In the serene room, the Ancient One was alone, pouring herself tea. She raised the cup and slowly savored the fragrance, enjoying a brief moment of tranquility and leisure.
As she set down the teacup, a cheerful, expectant child’s voice broke the serene silence. Hearing this voice, the Ancient One’s brow relaxed even more, and a small smile appeared at the corners of her mouth.
“Teacher! I’m here! Catch me!” As soon as these words were spoken, the Ancient One extended her hands, calmly and gently catching the child who flew into her embrace.
“You little rascal! Using your abilities everywhere—what if you hit something?” the Ancient One affectionately ruffled the hair of the cute little boy in her arms, then…
The Ancient One also began to pinch and play with Lan Xingyu’s cheeks.
Ah, Xingyu’s cheeks are still so much fun. I can’t stop playing with them. The Ancient One, holding Xingyu with one hand, continued to knead his cheeks, pinching here and there.
Should I find an excuse to immobilize him and play with his cheeks a bit more? They are just too irresistible. The Ancient One thought mischievously.
Lan Xingyu suddenly felt a chill down his spine! He couldn’t help but shiver and burrow further into the Ancient One’s embrace. To him, the Ancient One was like a combination of a mother and a teacher. For someone who had never experienced motherly love in either of his two lives, he cherished and enjoyed this feeling immensely. If Xingyu knew what the Ancient One was thinking, he would probably be exasperated…
“Teacher, you really agreed to take me to see how you combat interdimensional invasions? That’s great!” Xingyu said excitedly.
“Are you really ready for this? Although advanced sorcerers, barring severe injuries or illnesses, rarely miss these confrontations, you are an exception. Engaging in battles with life-and-death stakes at your age might be too soon. I know you are mature, seeing things more clearly and maintaining composure better than many young sorcerers, but I still don’t want you exposed to life-and-death situations this early.” The Ancient One gently stroked Xingyu’s hair, speaking with concern.
The Ancient One knew that Xingyu could not be viewed through the lens of a typical child. She even suspected that Xingyu’s mentality was almost that of an adult (in truth, his soul was indeed that of an adult…).
She had promised Lan to take good care of Xingyu, but the responsibilities of the Sorcerer Supreme often required her to leave for days or even a month at a time. Xingyu, being understanding, never complained and had been independent since he was three and a half. However, every time she returned and saw him cooking with pots as big as himself, she felt a pang of guilt and heartache.
“Trust me, teacher! I am truly ready,” Xingyu said firmly, his eyes full of determination. When Xingyu accidentally overheard Mordo mention the greatness of his mother and the reason for her death, he resolved to destroy that bastard Mephisto. This was also why Xingyu worked so hard to improve his abilities.
He couldn’t stand it. His parents in his previous life were already gone, and in this life, just when he could finally experience the motherly love he had longed for, it was snatched away by Mephisto…
“Alright, if you are really ready, we will set off this afternoon. Although this is just a minor demonic incursion, you must still be careful,” the Ancient One said solemnly. Of course, it would have seemed more serious if she wasn’t pinching his cheeks…
“Let’s go back and have lunch. After you rest, I will come to get you at three o’clock.”
“Okay, hehe!”
Lan Xingyu woke up from his nap, fully prepared. Looking at the golden light emanating from his hand, he thought, Mephisto, just wait. I will destroy you sooner or later. Now that I have fully mastered the abilities of the Glint-Glint Fruit and the magic in my mind, it’s time to start training my Haki. Unfortunately, I’m still young. Although my strength and physical resilience are extraordinary, I am still growing. I need to carefully consider the intensity of my training.
“Xingyu, are you ready?” Just as he was thinking about his future training plans, a portal appeared in front of him.
“Always ready!” Xingyu said firmly, feeling a surge of emotion. He had wanted to say this in his previous life ever since watching “I Am a Special Forces Soldier.” He had always dreamed of becoming a soldier, but before he could realize that dream, he had transmigrated. Now, finally saying it felt so good.
The Ancient One was slightly taken aback by Xingyu’s response. Always ready? Looking at Xingyu now, she felt as if she were seeing Lan smiling and saying to her, “I’m always ready, Master.”
“Alright, let’s go then!” With her concerns set aside, the Ancient One took Xingyu and set off.
Upon stepping through the portal, Xingyu saw a space with numerous magic circles forming a defensive barrier. The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj were all geared up and ready for battle.
“Stay by my side and observe the battle first. When you feel ready, you can join in,” the Ancient One instructed.
“Okay!” Xingyu began to adjust his state of mind, preparing to face his first battle.
“Boost,” Xingyu cast two spells on himself. Boost enhanced his strength, defense, and stamina. He could now move at superluminal speed, even faster than before.
In his normal state, Xingyu was already the strongest at Kamar-Taj, second only to the Ancient One. With these two spells, unless the Ancient One used the Time Stone, she wouldn’t be a match for him. After all, in the world of martial arts, speed is invincible.
In this state, Xingyu could enter superluminal time, where everything around him appeared nearly motionless while he moved at high speed. How could anyone fight him under these conditions?
Just as Xingyu finished boosting himself, the space opposite the barrier seemed to tear and shatter. Strange-looking demons charged towards the sorcerers defending the barrier.
The sorcerers weren’t idle either. One hand formed magic circles, and the other wielded their staves (actually scepters) as they charged into melee combat…
I’m not trying to write about close-combat sorcerers; it’s just that most sorcerers at Kamar-Taj are indeed close-combatants…
Even though he had seen this in the movies, Xingyu was still a bit disoriented witnessing it in real life. What’s the use of all your magic if you’re just going to engage in close combat? Are you kidding me?
Watching each sorcerer use the “Staff of the Living Tribunal” to cleave the demons in front of them in half, Xingyu tried to adapt while inwardly complaining, “Are you really sorcerers? Even Captain America doesn’t fight like this! Don’t you think you’re deviating more and more from what sorcerers should be?”
Despite claiming to be ready before coming here, the sight of such carnage still unsettled him.
The Ancient One, always attentive to Xingyu, noticed his discomfort and suggested, “Maybe it’s better to stop. This might be too soon for you.”
“No! I’ll be fine in a moment, teacher. Trust me!” Xingyu said resolutely.
Slapping his cheeks, Xingyu thought, “What are you doing? You’re over twenty years old and still this fragile? How will you avenge your mother and kill Mephisto like this?” Taking a deep breath, Xingyu found himself gradually adapting.
A few minutes later, Xingyu closed his eyes. When he opened them again, there was no trace of discomfort.
“Teacher!”
“Go! If anything happens, I’ll cover you. Just let go and fight!” The Ancient One understood that although he seemed fine, Xingyu needed to vent his emotions, and combat was the best way to do so.
