Sakura was simply shocked to learn that this unreliable guy was actually a Jonin of the village. She even briefly wondered if Kakashi was lying to them.
But that thought lasted only a moment. Sakura knew it was too absurd to think their team leader would lie about something like this.
“Alright, I’ve introduced myself. Now it’s your turn. Let’s start with you.”
Kakashi knew that getting these problem children to speak up on their own would be difficult, so he pointed at Naruto and asked him to go first.
Naruto showed no surprise.
“My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I like Ichiraku Ramen. I dislike people who give up easily. My dream is to become a great ninja!”
Naruto’s chin lifted slightly, his posture straightened, and he smiled lightly as he spoke.
A great ninja, huh?
Kakashi looked at Naruto’s smiling face, his eyes narrowing slightly as a knowing glint flashed in them. He nodded inwardly.
“And you?”
After Naruto finished, Kakashi nodded and turned his gaze to Sasuke, who sat in the middle. Sasuke remained cold and indifferent, not reacting at all to Kakashi’s gaze.
“My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I don’t have anything I particularly like, and there’s nothing I particularly dislike. As for my dream?”
At this point, Sasuke’s emotions seemed to surge. His mouth twitched, and his expression became even more frosty.
“It’s to kill that man and restore the Uchiha clan!”
Sasuke’s voice dripped with undisguised malice. His aura grew colder, and his eyes flashed with a violent gleam.
The intense and chilling aura made Sakura shiver, who had been watching Sasuke intently. Her eyes even showed a hint of fear.
Naruto, however, remained unaffected.
Not just because he already knew Sasuke’s character but also because it was nothing special to Naruto despite Sasuke’s seemingly terrifying demeanor.
Having faced the genuine killing intent from Mizuki, Naruto knew what true malice and killing intent felt like. Sasuke’s display seemed trivial in comparison.
Kakashi, having experienced countless battles and real killing intent, found Sasuke’s outburst somewhat amusing.
“Although I expected this, it seems this kid is truly blinded by hatred.”
Sasuke’s reaction made Kakashi’s brow furrow slightly.
He’s the most troublesome in the team, Kakashi thought.
At this moment, Kakashi didn’t realize that the biggest troublemaker wasn’t Sasuke but rather Naruto, who seemed calm and composed. By the time Kakashi figured this out, it would already be too late.
“And finally, you.”
Kakashi shifted his gaze to Sakura.
Sakura straightened up, her spirit revitalized, and spoke loudly.
“My name is Sakura Haruno. I like… well, instead of things, it’s more like… um, a person…”
As she said this, Sakura’s cheeks turned red, and she started fidgeting, sneaking glances at Sasuke. Though she didn’t name him, her actions made it clear who she meant.
Still cold and indifferent, Sasuke paid no attention, making Sakura feel disheartened. She couldn’t muster the courage to finish her sentence.
“Are all girls this age wired like this?”
Watching the lovestruck Sakura, Kakashi shook his head internally.
“And what about things you dislike?”
“Ino!”
Sakura responded without hesitation. With Naruto no longer pestering her, Yamanaka Ino naturally became her number one enemy. To Sakura, Ino was the ultimate rival in love.
“And your dream?”
“Well, it’s… to get married and… to him…”
Despite Sasuke’s cold demeanor, once Sakura entered her lovestruck fantasy mode, she was lost in her own world, even imagining a glowing aura around her.
Kakashi couldn’t help but feel speechless.
Twelve-year-old girls can be really scary, he thought.
“Alright, now that we’ve introduced ourselves and have a basic understanding of each other, let’s end the chit-chat here. This was just a simple meet-and-greet. Tomorrow, we’ll start our first mission. And it might also be your last.”
Seeing Sakura still lost in her fantasy, Kakashi clapped his hands to get her attention. He then leaned forward slightly and smiled as he spoke, his words carrying a deeper meaning. Only Naruto seemed to understand among the three, while Sasuke frowned, and Sakura looked confused.
“What do you mean, Kakashi-sensei? Why would it be our last mission?”
Sakura, with wide eyes, couldn’t comprehend what Kakashi was implying.
Does it mean the mission is dangerous? she wondered, feeling a shiver of fear.
“Hehe, you’ll find out tomorrow. No need to rush. As for the mission, I’ll explain it in detail then. It’s a special survival exercise to test if you can truly become Genin. The meeting time is 5 AM at the second training ground. Oh, and don’t eat breakfast. Also, don’t be late. I really dislike latecomers. Consider this a friendly reminder from your sensei.”
Kakashi’s final words carried a hint of warning. After speaking, he vanished with a puff of smoke, leaving Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura behind.
