Chapter 5: Universal Pull
“Here we are. This is the spot I sensed.”
Standing beside a massive, peculiar double helix plant, Nagato found a large hole in the clouds and leaped down.
“Hmm? What’s going on here?”
However, when he landed, he saw only ruins—several people lying on the ground amidst ancient, dilapidated remnants, likely the City of Gold. The problem was, he saw no gold.
“Who are you?”
A black-haired woman lying on the ground struggled to ask as she noticed Nagato.
“Uzumaki Nagato,” he replied, walking over to her and squatting down to talk. “It looks like you’re badly injured. Unfortunately, I don’t know medical ninjutsu. But if needed, I can call someone from the cloud island over there who can help.”
“Are you from Wano?” Robin managed a weak smile. Normally, she would be interested in Nagato and his talk of medical ninjutsu, but she could only muster a request, “Please, if you could get someone to help us, thank you…”
“No need.” Nagato formed a hand seal, and with a puff of smoke, he summoned a shadow clone, instructing it to fly to the cloud island with houses he had seen earlier. “In return, I have a question for you.”
“Is this the City of Gold? Where is the gold?”
Hearing Nagato’s question, Robin tensed up.
Someone so focused on finding gold couldn’t be a good person.
However, she quickly relaxed. The countless dangers and struggles for survival had dulled her fear of death. Nagato’s earlier behavior was relatively friendly, so they could only gamble on their luck.
In a faint voice, Robin answered, “This is Shandora, but the gold has long been taken by the god of this sky island. He is now…”
“No need to say more.” Nagato stood up, seeing the distant leaves and the massive golden ship slowly rising. “I think I know where he is.”
Hearing this, Robin was shocked, her voice rising in urgency, “Don’t go there, that’s the Rumble-Rumble Fruit user…”
Before Robin could finish her warning, Nagato interrupted, “No need to go.”
Robin hadn’t had time to relax before Nagato’s next words scared her again, “I’ll just pull him here.”
Nagato spread his hands wide, releasing a massive repulsive force that cleared the clouds above. Then, with his palms extended toward the distant flying ship, he intoned, “Universal Pull!”
Clang, clang!!
“What’s happening?” On the Ark Maxim, Nami stumbled from the sudden violent shaking, feeling the ship jerk to a stop and then quickly fly towards the giant vine. She shouted in panic.
“Discharge!” Enel pressed his hands against the golden walls of the ship’s deck, trying to boost the ship’s power back on course, but he couldn’t counteract the inexplicable pull.
“Mantra!” Enel, now furious, extended his enhanced Observation Haki to find the insect disrupting his plans.
Quickly, his Mantra, capable of covering the entire sky island, detected Nagato’s actions in Shandora.
“So, it’s the last Blue Sea insect,” Enel snarled. “Let’s sweep away this trash before heading to the Endless Vearth.”
In Shandora.
Robin watched in shock as Nagato, just by opening his hand, pulled the massive ship from miles away, unable to speak.
“Hmm…” Nearby, the resilient Zoro began to regain consciousness, groaning as he woke up.
Boom, boom, boom!
A minute later, the Ark Maxim was pulled close! The enormous ship crashed into Shandora, demolishing several dilapidated buildings and raising a huge cloud of dust.
Robin, heartbroken at the destruction of Shandora’s ruins, shouted, “Mr. Nagato, please stop! These are precious historical relics!”
Nagato, satisfied with the gold on the Ark Maxim, was startled by Robin’s rebuke. He turned and nodded after a moment of contemplation, “Apologies, I was not thoughtful. I won’t cause more damage. I’ll take the gold and leave.”
Robin, standing up in her excitement, collapsed back down, sitting on the ground weakly. Though angry and regretful about the damaged Shandora, she said nothing further, knowing it was futile.
Boom, boom, boom!
Their conversation ignored the nearby god. Enel, from the Ark Maxim, unleashed three lightning bolts, shattering the ground beneath Nagato!
“Take the gold? Don’t make me laugh.” As the dust and smoke from the Ark’s landing settled, Enel stood on the ship’s deck, looking down at Nagato. “Trying to steal from a god must be punished by death.”
“A god?”
Nagato, looking at Enel on the ship, said, “Someone with eyes like mine also called himself a god, but you both are just over-inflated. Thunder user.”
“I’m curious, though. Can you, as a lightning user, be hurt by lightning?” Nagato extended his right hand, releasing a torrent of lightning, illuminating Enel’s stunned face.
“Lightning Release: False Darkness!”
“Can a Devil Fruit user have two powers?” asked Zoro, astonished by the scene.
“No…” Robin, leaning against a rock, replied, “Mr. Nagato mentioned Lightning Release. That must be the name of his technique. It sounds like the legendary ninjutsu.”
“But do ninjutsu really exist in this world?” Robin, recalling her studies and records about Wano, couldn’t remember anything related, feeling both curious and skeptical.
“Fool, of course, it’s useless.” Enel stood unscathed on the deck, the lightning that could shatter rocks failing to harm the Logia user. “Well, as a god, it’s understandable you wouldn’t comprehend.”
Enel leisurely jumped from the Ark Maxim, strolling toward Nagato, his slow pace reflecting his absolute confidence. Yawning, he said, “I’ll take some effort to melt you away.”
As Enel walked, sparks of electricity crackled around him. Robin, Zoro, and Nami all watched Nagato, their only hope in this dangerous situation, praying for a miracle against Enel’s overwhelming power.
“Ah—Nami! I’m here!”
At that moment, a loud shout came from behind. Nagato turned to see a boy wearing a straw hat falling from a giant snake’s mouth.
“Luffy!”
Nami, seeing him, brightened immediately, laughing and shouting, “Over here, Luffy!”
This was the captain’s charm. No matter the danger, seeing him always instilled courage and confidence in his crew!
