The next day, after finishing his morning class, Mokutsuki headed to the Hokage Tower.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, being the Third Hokage, couldn’t stay in the school’s office every day waiting for his response, so he had told Mokutsuki to find him at the Hokage Tower if he decided to take on the tutoring job.
When Mokutsuki arrived at the Hokage’s office floor, he was briefly stopped, but as expected, he mentioned that the Third Hokage had summoned him and allowed him to pass.
Mokutsuki knocked on the wooden door of the Hokage’s office.
“Third Hokage-sama, I have made my decision,” Mokutsuki stated, revealing his identity and purpose.
“It’s Habu. Come in,” the Third Hokage’s voice called from inside.
Mokutsuki opened the door and entered, surprised to find not only the Third Hokage but also Minato inside.
Minato was equally surprised to see his new neighbour from yesterday now at the Hokage’s office.
“This is Habu-sensei from the Ninja Academy. His teaching abilities are exceptional, so much so that I couldn’t help but invite him to tutor Asuma,” the Third Hokage said with a smile, setting aside his pipe as he introduced Mokutsuki.
Noticing the expressions of the two, the Third Hokage asked, “Minato, do you know each other?”
Minato nodded, “We’re neighbours. Habu’s house is right next to mine.”
“What a coincidence. Habu, you and Minato should interact more. Both of you are outstanding ninjas in your respective fields,” Hiruzen Sarutobi praised.
“It’s nothing much, just doing my best,” Mokutsuki said modestly.
Minato also responded humbly before leaving. He had a good impression of Mokutsuki, but there were better places to chat than Hokage’s office. waMokutsuki shared the same thought, so he didn’t engage much with Minato either.
“Third, Hokage-sama, after carefully considering, I found that if I manage my time well, I can spare a few hours on weekends to tutor Asuma,” Mokutsuki stated in his decision.
“Great, with your tutoring, I won’t have to worry about Asuma’s growth,” Hiruzen Sarutobi said with a laugh, showing his trust in Mokutsuki.
“I’ll do my best not to disappoint you, Third Hokage-sama, and will give my all in teaching Asuma,” Mokutsuki expressed his gratitude, showing that he would take the tutoring job seriously.
The following discussion was the mundane negotiation of salary. The Third Hokage was generous, offering 2,000 ryo per hour, with eight hours of tutoring over the weekend and weekly payments.
Mokutsuki set the tutoring hours from 1 PM to 5 PM on weekends.
Since it was Friday and Mokutsuki had no afternoon classes, he went to the usual training spot by the river where Shisui was practising Fire Release techniques with one of Mokutsuki’s shadow clones.
After the recent exam, Shisui had effortlessly secured the top spot in the grade. Following Mokutsuki’s suggestion, he used shadow clones to attend school while he trained during school hours.
When Mokutsuki arrived, he dispelled the shadow clone. Sensing his presence, Shisui paused his training and greeted, “Habu-sensei.”
Mokutsuki nodded, handing Shisui a towel with a smile, “Take a break and wipe off your sweat.”
Shisui thanked him, took the towel, wiped the sweat from his forehead and neck, and sat down under a large tree with Mokutsuki.
Mokutsuki assessed Shisui.
Name: Shisui Uchiha
Chakra: 580
Potential: SS-
Compared to a month ago, his chakra had increased significantly due to the intense training and his body’s natural development. The growth would only accelerate in the future.
Mokutsuki was slightly dissatisfied with the simplicity of the evaluation panel, which only showed chakra and potential.
After a brief rest, Mokutsuki spoke:
“Shisui, starting today, your training plan will change. You will begin practising the Body Flicker Technique and enhancing your chakra control.”
Given that Shisui earned the nickname “Shisui of the Body Flicker” during the Third Great Ninja War, Mokutsuki thought it was appropriate to teach him the Body Flicker Technique first.
“Understood,” Shisui nodded, fully trusting Mokutsuki’s teaching abilities after a month of training.
The Body Flicker Technique isn’t a single jutsu but a category of techniques. Any technique that achieves the effect of body flickering can be called a Body Flicker Technique.
High-end techniques like the Flying Thunder God or Lightning Release Chakra Mode could also be considered Body Flicker Techniques.
However, Mokutsuki naturally didn’t know the Flying Thunder God or the Lightning Release Chakra Mode. He had mastered the most basic form of the Body Flicker Technique.
This technique involved gathering chakra in the legs and then releasing it explosively to enhance physical speed for high-speed movement. Its drawback was that excessive use could cause muscle fatigue and injury in the legs.
Despite being a simple D-rank taijutsu, it was convenient in combat for both surprise attacks and retreats.
Shisui’s talent didn’t disappoint. Although he hadn’t awakened the Sharingan, his natural solid ability allowed him to master the Body Flicker Technique after Mokutsuki demonstrated and explained it once.
After school ended, Might Guy and Obito soon arrived at the training spot.
“Don’t rush into training. I’ve prepared a special two-month training plan for you both,” Mokutsuki called out to Guy and Obito, who were eager to start training.
Hearing Mokutsuki’s gentle voice, Obito thought they were about to learn something new and powerful. He looked at Mokutsuki expectantly and asked, “Habu-sensei, are you going to teach us a new powerful jutsu?”
“You haven’t even mastered the Great Fireball and Dragon Flame Jutsu yet. Why would I teach you a new Jutsu?” Mokutsuki shook his head.
“Then what is this special training?” Obito asked, disappointed that there wasn’t a new Jutsu to learn.
“It’s training that will help you defeat Hiashi Hyuga in the next final exam,” Mokutsuki said with a smile.
“Obito, your taijutsu is too weak. Not only will you be unable to defeat Hiashi Hyuga, but even Guy could prevent you from using any ninjutsu. So you must strengthen your taijutsu.”
Obito wanted to argue but couldn’t. His battles with Hiashi Hyuga and Might Guy had gone precisely as Mokutsuki described.
Ninja battles might sometimes seem like mages casting spells at each other, but neglecting taijutsu would make one the first to die on the battlefield. Strong ninjas generally had some degree of taijutsu skill.
“As for you, Guy, you need to enhance your strength further. You must become so fast that even if Hiashi Hyuga’s Byakugan can see your movements, he won’t be able to dodge.”
The Byakugan’s observational ability was indeed strong, but Might Guy didn’t need to surpass its observation, just Hiashi Hyuga’s reaction speed.
“From now on, after every hour of training, you’ll spend half an hour sparring, using only taijutsu and no ninjutsu.”
“What? No ninjutsu?” Obito was stunned. He had already struggled to win, and now he couldn’t use ninjutsu, which meant he would be beaten for sure.
“If you don’t want to be defeated by Hiashi Hyuga again, then don’t use ninjutsu,” Mokutsuki replied.
Obito thought about the boasts he had made in front of Rin Nohara. Despite foreseeing a painful training experience, he reluctantly nodded in agreement.
The new round of training began. Mokutsuki wondered if this special training would trigger a reward for the growth in his students’ strength, something that hadn’t happened yet. He was curious about the extent of improvement needed to activate it.
