Ninja School Teacher, I Can Become Stronger by Teaching Chapter 33

The Determined Asuma

“Sensei, when will we start practising nature transformation? I’ve been reading the manual you gave me every night, and I really want to try it out,” Obito asked as he walked back and forth on the small river.

Walking on trees and water every day was getting incredibly dull.

Plus, Mokutsuki’s nature transformation manual had been very enlightening, making him feel like he was finally getting the hang of Fire Release.

“Are you bored with walking on water? Do you think you’ve mastered it?” Mokutsuki asked with a smile.

“Yes, yes,” Obito nodded quickly. He could already run on the water.

“Alright then, let me test your level and make walking on water more interesting,” Mokutsuki said, rapidly forming hand seals and unleashing his chakra.

“Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!”

A giant water dragon formed quickly, causing the calm river to become turbulent, with waves rising sporadically.

“Ugh…” Obito lost his balance and fell headfirst into the water, swallowing a mouthful.

Mokutsuki quickly pulled Obito out, laughing, “See, you’re not quite there yet.”

“Sensei, you caught me off guard,” Obito complained.

With classmates and a clan member watching, he still wanted to save face.

“Try again,” Mokutsuki said, still smiling.

Walking on water required consistent chakra control, and with the Water Dragon Bullet creating distractions and waves, maintaining steady chakra flow became more challenging, indicating reasonable control.

Obito talked big, but his skills didn’t match. Within minutes, he fell into the water again.

“My shoes aren’t right today; they’re affecting my balance,” Obito said, removing his shoes and continuing barefoot.

Mokutsuki smiled but didn’t say anything.

After a while, Obito fell into the water again.

“I must have stayed up too late reading last night, so I’m not in top form,” Obito said, stretching and rolling up his sleeves, his expression turning serious. “Now I’ll get serious.”

Splash!
Another fall.

Mokutsuki pulled him out again. This time, Obito’s eyes were vacant, his face expressionless.

“Don’t worry, Obito. I know you’re just trying to learn how to swim,” Shisui comforted him.

Obito covered his face with his hands and said, “Shisui, you go on. I just need a moment.”

“Feeling like you performed poorly?” Mokutsuki squatted beside Obito, looking into the distance rather than at him.

As the saying goes, comparisons are odious.

Shisui had already started practising chakra control long before Obito. He even skipped tree-walking and mastered water-walking quickly, even with Mokutsuki’s interference.

With Shisui’s outstanding performance, Obito felt the need to talk big to save face. He knew he might not be as good as Shisui, but not by such a wide margin.

“Actually, I wasn’t here last Saturday afternoon because I was tutoring the Hokage’s son,” Mokutsuki said.

“The Hokage has a younger son, Sarutobi Asuma. He’s only a year ahead of you.”

Obito nodded, recognising the name.

“When Asuma was training on water, I also used the Water Dragon Bullet to distract him. He fell in dozens of times in one afternoon but finally managed to stay up for five minutes.”

“Asuma did that…” Obito was surprised that Asuma, who had always been a top student, had struggled so much but persisted.

Obito gained a new respect for Asuma’s determination, something he hadn’t noticed before.

“Sensei, I understand. I’m ready to train again!” Obito said, taking a deep breath and looking invigorated.

If Asuma could persist, why couldn’t he? His goal was to beat Kakashi in front of Rin and take first place!

“Have a snack first,” Mokutsuki said, handing Obito a dango.

“Thank you, Sensei!” Obito said energetically, quickly finishing the dango before stepping back into the river.

[You gave your disciple a red bean dango. Due to your disciple’s gratitude, you received a critical bonus: Chef skill]

[Chef: The food you prepare is so delicious it can cause hallucinations]

“Wow, a skill, and a life skill at that,” Mokutsuki thought, surprised.

Although the returns from teaching could be random, such as gaining mastery of Water Release from Might Guy, getting a Chef skill from Obito seemed odd.

Nonetheless, Mokutsuki was pleased. The skill sounded powerful from its description.

Being good at cooking was a significant plus.

If he had this skill earlier, he could’ve claimed his kitchen was broken and cooked at Minato’s place, showcasing his extraordinary culinary skills. Kushina and Minato might have initiated the friendship.

It could also quickly raise disciples’ affection. Who wouldn’t like a teacher who teaches well and cooks fantastically?

After the disciples finished their training, Mokutsuki returned early to Konoha’s central district to test his new cooking skills.

He decided to make two dishes: fried rice and tempura.

He had made fried rice before, as he liked dishes with eggs. Tempura, however, he had never tried making.

From the moment he picked up the egg, Mokutsuki felt a strange sensation. Though the steps were the same as before, everything was perfect.

The finished fried rice had a golden sheen, each grain distinct and glowing faintly.

Mokutsuki was momentarily dazed.

He hadn’t added any unique ingredients, so why did it seem to glow?

He took a spoonful. The egg’s smoothness, the rice’s chewiness, and the scallion’s aroma exploded in his mouth. He had never tasted such delicious fried rice.

Mokutsuki even saw a robust chicken running freely in a meadow, flying occasionally, full of freedom and joy.

“It really is delicious to the point of causing hallucinations,” Mokutsuki shook his head, snapping back to reality.

Next, he prepared the tempura, heating oil in a pan and coating the shrimp in batter before frying them.

The tempura’s colour gradually changed, and a distinct aroma filled the kitchen, spreading far.

Mokutsuki, guided by instinct, retrieved the tempura, placing it on a plate and setting it on the table.

As he picked up a piece of tempura to taste, there was a knock at the door.
