“Binzoku Reito,” Mokutsuki called out to the next student for the exam.
Binzoku Reito quickly moved to the testing area and demonstrated an Earth Release jutsu, followed by a series of sharp taijutsu moves. He then threw three shuriken at a target fifty meters away, all of which hit, though not in the bullseye.
He then ran to a tree and moved effortlessly on its surface, his chakra control stable. Even while walking on water, he managed to withstand the waves created by the Water Dragon Jutsu without falling.
Mokutsuki considered this performance and scored seven points for ninjutsu, seven and a half for hand signs, eight and a half for taijutsu, six for shuriken throwing, and seven and a half for chakra control.
Binzoku Reito had a solid foundation and was particularly good at taijutsu, though other areas were weaker.
Mokutsuki used a higher standard for A-group students, different from the initial grouping criteria.
“Uchiha Obito,” Mokutsuki continued.
Obito thought to himself as he approached, “Too bad Rin is in B-group. It would have been great if she were here.”
After challenging Mokutsuki’s taijutsu test, these exam tasks seemed simple to Obito. He wished Rin could see his stellar performance.
“Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!” Obito unleashed a massive four-meter fireball, looking very impressive.
Ever since Mokutsuki helped him refine the Fireball Jutsu, Obito had been using this more powerful version, even though it consumed more chakra.
“Wow, are all ninja school students this skilled now?” Binzoku Reito was surprised by Obito’s powerful Fire Style.
“It looks stronger than Asuma’s Fire Style,” Kurenai Yuhi remarked.
“His Fire Style looks strong but it’s impractical. It can’t hit anyone,” Asuma quickly interjected, not wanting Kurenai to think less of him.
“The Fireball Jutsu is slow and can’t change direction, usually used as a feint,” Asuma explained.
After the Fireball Jutsu, Obito’s performance in taijutsu and other areas was excellent, showing no significant weaknesses.
“Might Guy,” Mokutsuki called.
Guy demonstrated his three basic jutsu, though not as skillfully. Binzoku Reito and Asuma initially smiled at seeing a seemingly less skilled student. However, their smiles quickly faded as Guy showcased his exceptional taijutsu.
“His kicks are so fast, even faster than yours, Reito,” Asuma admitted.
Reito remained silent, thinking he might not be able to beat Guy in a pure taijutsu match.
Asuma noticed some students seemed unfazed by Guy’s performance and asked them about it. He learned that Guy was the top student in the fourth year, even beating Obito.
Realizing this, Asuma thought Guy might be even more muscular than he appeared.
“Uchiha Shisui,” Mokutsuki announced.
As Shisui stepped forward, the atmosphere grew tense. All eyes were on him, knowing he had defeated Binzoku Reito on the first day of summer training.
Asuma didn’t need to watch to know Shisui was the strongest, having once been defeated by him.
As expected, Shisui performed each test flawlessly, easily surpassing all others.
“Sarutobi Asuma,” Mokutsuki called.
Reluctantly, Asuma stepped forward, knowing he’d be compared to Shisui. Though he performed well, it was clear Shisui was superior.
As the session neared its end, Mokutsuki finished scoring all students, ready to announce the results.
“Will there be rewards?” Mokutsuki wondered, thinking he could hold more frequent tests to maximize benefits from the system.
After announcing the class dismissal, Mokutsuki posted the scores and rankings on a prepared board.
Students gathered around to check their results.
“Only twenty-four points…” Anko Mitarashi scratched her head, dissatisfied. She usually scored above thirty-five in ninja school. Seeing no promotion list below her name, she was even more frustrated.
Out of over three hundred students, only Ebisu was promoted from B-group to A-group.
Kamizuki Izumo and Gangzitie, scoring under twenty points, were impressed by Ebisu’s solitary advancement.
“Ebisu-senpai truly is a genius,” Gangzitie admired.
“Indeed, leading the pack alone is admirable,” Izumo agreed.
“But once we perfect our technique, we’ll be next week’s Ebisu-senpai,” Gangzitie said confidently.
Both boys were eager to showcase their improved distraction technique in the upcoming combat test.
“Kamizuki and Gangzitie are getting stranger,” Anko commented, puzzled by their excitement.
Asuma checked A-group’s rankings, relieved to find himself in third place, just behind Shisui and Obito.
“I need to train even harder this week,” Asuma resolved, feeling the pressure.
Though Guy’s test scores weren’t high, his combat skills were formidable, as demonstrated by his recent victory over Obito. Asuma aimed to maintain his rank in the upcoming combat test, with no immediate plans to claim the top spot.
