The number of students in Group B was significantly more extensive than that of Group A, so by the time Obito got there, Group B was still undergoing the combat tests.
Obito scanned the crowd of onlookers and quickly found Rin Nohara.
With a beaming smile, he walked towards her and said, “Rin, you wouldn’t believe how amazing I was just now. Guy had the upper hand, but I still managed to defeat him.”
Hearing Obito’s voice, Rin turned around and asked in confusion, “Is the exam for Group A already over?”
“Yeah, it’s over. I came in second, only losing to Shisui,” Obito couldn’t help but share his achievement with Rin.
“You finally beat Guy! That shows you’ve made great progress. You never managed to beat Guy in the academy’s combat tests before,” Rin smiled warmly, genuinely happy for Obito’s improvement.
Last semester, Obito’s strength improved dramatically, even defeating the previous top student, Uchiha Tetsuo. However, Might Guy had become a significant obstacle in Obito’s path to being number one.
With Guy around, Obito had managed to be second in his grade but never first in his class.
So, knowing that Obito had finally defeated Guy made Rin genuinely happy for him, as it showed that Obito’s strength had improved considerably.
“Hehe, I always had a chance to beat him before, but I always fell just a bit short,” Obito said with a sheepish grin, happy to receive Rin’s praise.
In terms of raw strength, he was actually at a disadvantage in this battle. The key to his victory was his strategy.
“By the way, Rin, how did you do? Did you make it into the top ten?” Obito asked.
“No, everyone else seems to have improved a lot too,” Rin shook her head, feeling a bit disheartened about her own performance.
Her combat skills were about average in Group B, so making it into the top ten was out of reach.
“I see. How about I help you get stronger?” Obito suggested enthusiastically, noticing that Rin seemed a bit disappointed with her abilities.
“Sure,” Rin agreed, smiling at the thought of Obito’s rapid improvement. She was eager to learn from him.
Obito took Rin aside and started thinking about what to teach her.
Techniques like Soru, Dragon Flame, and Leaf Whirlwind were out of the question because they were taught to him by Mokutsuki, and he couldn’t teach them without Mokutsuki’s permission.
He thought of the Great Fireball Jutsu, which he already knew before Mokutsuki taught it to him.
“How about I teach you the Great Fireball Jutsu? It’s a C-rank fire release technique, but it’s very powerful,” Obito decided.
“First, you need to perform these hand seals,” Obito demonstrated the hand seals for the Great Fireball Jutsu.
“Then, you convert your chakra into fire and blow out a big fireball, like you’re inflating a balloon,” Obito explained, using hand gestures to illustrate.
Rin looked at Obito with a puzzled expression.
“Didn’t you understand?” Obito scratched his head, thinking he had explained it pretty well and might make a good teacher someday.
“It’s like this, and then like that, and finally, you blow it out like a balloon,” Obito repeated, using more gestures.
Rin was at a loss for words. She could tell Obito genuinely wanted to teach her the Great Fireball Jutsu, but his explanation was a bit abstract.
“Thanks for wanting to teach me, Obito, but I don’t even know my own chakra nature yet,” Rin said, feeling a bit helpless.
In the shinobi world, everyone is born with a natural chakra nature, and it’s easier and faster to train using that nature’s elemental transformation.
“Oh, right.” Obito scratched his head, feeling a bit disappointed that he couldn’t help Rin.
He decided to ask Mokutsuki that night during training for advice on teaching someone to get stronger. The all-purpose Mokutsuki Sage has the solution.
Since the teaching plan failed, Obito started chatting with Rin until a commotion arose in the training ground.
“It looks like the exams are over, and Mokutsuki-sensei is posting the results,” Rin said, seeing a crowd gathering around the notice board.
“Let’s go, Rin. We should check it out,” Obito said enthusiastically, leading her toward the board.
Although he knew his own results, Obito wanted to see if anyone would praise him.
But as he approached, he was surprised to find that the most talked-about person wasn’t him or even the top-ranked Shisui, but Ebisu, who had just entered Group A last week.
“You wouldn’t believe what happened in the Group C exam. Two people used illusionary scantily clad women to distract their opponents during a fight.”
“Oh, I heard about that. But wasn’t it developed by that Ebisu who just moved up to Group A?”
“Yeah, it was him.”
“I know him. He usually seems pretty serious, but who knew…”
Listening to the chatter around him, Obito was baffled. He couldn’t understand why everyone wasn’t talking about the top two in Group A but instead about Ebisu.
The story grew more outrageous, with some saying Ebisu used the transformation jutsu to create illusionary, scantily clad women during his battles.
Obito thought he hadn’t seen anything like that during Ebisu’s fights.
He wanted to ask Ebisu what was going on, but Ebisu had already left the training ground after the exam, perhaps due to a poor performance, and Obito couldn’t find him.
After posting the results, Mokutsuki returned to his home in the central district. The system still didn’t display any notifications regarding the exam.
At home, Mokutsuki began preparing the magical map tofu.
The recipe given by the system differed significantly from the map tofu he remembered, primarily because it required soybeans.
More accurately, it required soybeans to make “meat.”
First, the soybeans were soaked in water, then cooked in broth. Afterward, they were mashed and seasoned to give them a meaty texture, and then quickly fried to lock in the flavor.
The fried soybeans were then added to the mapo tofu, enhancing its flavor and transforming it into magical mapo tofu.
Once finished, Mokutsuki covered the dish with a lid to add a sense of ceremony.
Soon, Minato and Kushina knocked on Mokutsuki’s door.
As soon as they entered, they noticed the covered dish on the table, which wasn’t usually there.
“Why the lid?” Kushina asked casually.
How about keeping it warm? He did finish cooking earlier than usual,” Minato guessed.
“Stop guessing and just lift the lid to see,” Mokutsuki said with a smile, bringing the last two dishes to the table.
“I’ll do it,” Kushina said, stepping forward to lift the lid.
