One Piece Admiral Silver Fox Chapter 88

Promotion and Unexpected Surprises

At dusk, the sky was painted with fiery clouds, and the sun, hanging in the sky all day, was finally resting.

Night, I slowly arrived.

Loguetown was becoming increasingly lively and chaotic. Robberies and murders could happen at any time in the streets and alleys.

Foxy spent the entire day recuperating in bed. The doctor came by twice to change his bandages. However, another person was in the room—Vice Admiral Doberman.

“Are you alright?” Doberman asked, standing beside Foxy’s bed with a smile.

“Vice Admiral Doberman,” Foxy greeted, leaning back in bed. After a day of rest, his injuries had significantly improved.

Foxy’s physical condition had improved drastically since he first traveled to this world—like the difference between a bicycle and a motorcycle.

Foxy believed that with continued effort, he could become as powerful as an airplane or cannon.

“You can stay lying down,” Doberman said, raising his hand to indicate that Foxy didn’t need to salute. He then sat on the bed next to Foxy.

As for Donald Duck, he was currently wandering around the base, using the excuse of needing to digest food. In reality, he just couldn’t stay idle and wanted to go out and play.

“Is there something you need, Vice Admiral?” Foxy asked, looking at Doberman with some confusion.

“I’m here to congratulate you. Honestly, you’ve made me see you in a new light,” Doberman said with some admiration.

“The headquarters has already been informed about what happened here. You, as a sergeant, killed a pirate with a bounty of 70 million Beli, making the Navy’s justice shine brightly. So, you are now a second lieutenant.”

“Second lieutenant?” Foxy was initially stunned, but then his expression turned neutral. He didn’t need to guess to know that Tsuru was supporting him behind the scenes. After all, his promotion seemed fast—barely a month had passed.

“You don’t seem very happy about it,” Doberman noted, surprised. He remembered how excited he had been with each promotion.

“It’s alright,” Foxy replied with a smile.

“According to the regulations, you’re still a cadet, so you’ll have to wait until you officially graduate to exercise the full rights of a second lieutenant. Additionally, Vice Admiral Tsuru has issued a document granting you permission to choose one of the Six Powers to train in.”

“What?” Now Foxy was excited.

Promotion didn’t matter much to him at this stage. What he wanted most was to master the Six Powers.

He could barely choose one of the Six Powers based on his achievements. Foxy had thought that his promotion meant he wouldn’t get to choose a new technique, but he hadn’t expected that he could still pick one after his promotion.

Foxy didn’t know that a captain could decide promotions below the rank of lieutenant. Still, promotions above that required the approval of vice admirals, admirals, or even the fleet admiral. Moreover, the higher the rank, the more military merit was needed for each subsequent promotion unless the individual was compelling, like Sakazuki, Borsalino, or Kuzan. Even so, they had spent several years as rear admirals or vice admirals.

Changes in ranks above the rear admiral were within the fleet admiral’s purview, and some particular positions could only be assigned by the Five Elders of the World Government.

Thus, Foxy felt his promotions were happening quickly and without surprise. If Tsuru was willing, Foxy could become a colonel now, although his strength and accomplishments didn’t warrant it.

Once again, Foxy appreciated the convenience of having someone influential backing him. He told Tsuru that he wanted to master all six powers, explaining his reasons for wanting to become stronger and undergo cosmetic surgery. Tsuru’s look at him was pretty peculiar when he mentioned the latter.

Foxy had already mastered Shave, Moonwalk, and Finger Pistol but had yet to learn Iron Body, Paper Arts, and Tempest Kick. The surprise came too quickly, so Foxy hadn’t yet decided which one to train in next.

After all, he had only recently started training in Finger Pistol; who could have expected he’d get to learn another technique so soon?

“Is there a problem?” Foxy’s reaction took aback Doberman.

“No…” Foxy suppressed his excitement and looked at Doberman eagerly. “Can I take some time to think about it? Also, who will teach me the Six Powers?”

“Vice Admiral Tsuru has already arranged for that. If you want to train in the Six Powers, you can go to Vice Admiral Kano.”

“Vice Admiral Kano?” Foxy had no recollection of the name.

“Yes, Vice Admiral Kano is a headquarters vice admiral who served alongside your instructor, Zephyr,” Doberman explained.

Foxy’s eyes lit up. Anyone who had served with Zephyr and was still alive must be incredibly skilled.

Foxy could haven’t heard of him because this vice admiral died in the next twenty years, or Oda hadn’t yet decided to introduce him.

Either way, it didn’t matter to Foxy as long as he could teach him the Six Powers.

“Vice Admiral Doberman, can I give you my answer tomorrow?” Foxy asked, needing time to think it over.

“Of course. Rest well,” Doberman said as he stood up to leave.

Although it wasn’t his duty to deliver this news, he had come because he saw potential in Foxy, not only because they were both Zephyr’s students but because he genuinely saw promise in Foxy.

The previous day’s display of Foxy’s ferocity had left a deep impression on him. Doberman thought Foxy could become a colleague of equal rank in the future, and building a good relationship wouldn’t hurt.

“Thank you, Vice Admiral Doberman,” Foxy said politely as Doberman waved off the thanks and left.

Leaning back on his bed, Foxy began to ponder.

Which Iron Body, Paper Arts, or Tempest Kick should he choose?

Foxy had learned a lot about the Six Powers in the academy and had also incorporated the opinions of many One Piece fans.

Shave, Moonwalk, and Finger Pistol were already being mastered, and Foxy just needed to keep training to grow stronger.

Paper Arts was considered a foundation for Observation Haki. It was a defensive technique that allowed the user to relax and let their body move as if painting on paper, adapting fluidly to various combat situations. When mastered, the body could instinctively avoid attacks without needing neural commands.

However, such mastery was elusive. At least, Foxy hadn’t seen anyone achieve it yet.

It was similar to the Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball, where the body and mind are separate, allowing each part of the body to react to danger independently, greatly enhancing speed and reaction time. But the power systems of Dragon Ball and One Piece were incomparable; a single Kamehameha could likely obliterate the One Piece world.
