One Piece: Devouring Fruit Chapter 67

Departure

The card representing the future was blank, with a white mist swirling across its surface.

But tarot cards don’t include blank cards, much less dynamic ones.

This was an anomaly caused by Basil Hawkins’ Devil Fruit ability.

“Hey, why is there a blank card?” Sola asked, confused by the sight.

“I’ve never encountered this before in my divinations. Perhaps someone close to you has altered your past and present, shrouding your future in mist,” Basil Hawkins speculated as he looked at the blank card.

Hearing this, everyone immediately turned their gaze to Michion.

To them, Michion was the one most connected to Sola’s “past” and “present” cards.

Basil Hawkins noticed this, too, and said, “If possible, may I perform a divination for you?”

“Sure,” Michion nodded. He was curious to see what Hawkins might uncover about him.

Could you divine that I’m a transmigrator?

When Basil Hawkins laid out three cards and revealed the first representing the “past,” it displayed the inverted Death card.

Seeing the card, Hawkins explained, “The inverted Death card indicates having passed through a trial of death and finding a new beginning. It can also mean refusing to let go of part of yourself, potentially representing an unwillingness to change past mistakes, causing stagnation in the present. These two interpretations depend on the diviner’s intuition and choices.”

“I get it,” Michion nodded, understanding.

Clearly, for Michion, it was the first interpretation. After all, he had taken over the original body, essentially experiencing a rebirth.

With no more questions, Basil Hawkins turned over the second card representing the “present.”

The card depicted a supreme emperor sitting on a throne, wearing a jewel-encrusted crown and holding a scepter, symbolizing power and authority.

“This is the Emperor card, representing power,” Hawkins explained.

“Accurate,” Michion said with a smile, and Tina and the others nodded in agreement. After all, Michion had just become a prince.

When Basil Hawkins reached for the third card, Michion interrupted, “Can I turn it over myself?”

“Of course,” Hawkins nodded.

But when Michion turned over the third card representing the future, it was blank, just like Sola’s.

Michion wasn’t surprised. The idea that a transmigrator’s fate could be divined was laughable.

Have you ever read a transmigrator novel where the protagonist’s fate could be accurately divined?

While the Emperor card for the “present” was no surprise, the past and future cards made sense given Michion’s unique circumstances.

“Now I understand,” Basil Hawkins said, realizing why previous divinations had shown a blank future for Sola.

“It’s because your fate is shrouded in mist. I can’t see it. I’m sorry,” Hawkins apologized.

Michion shrugged, indicating it was fine, and at that moment, Rear Admiral Yake returned.

Having heard about the bandits, Yake had left the supplies under guard and rushed over. Hearing the battle sounds stop made him anxious, but seeing Michion and the others leisurely sorting through loot relieved him.

After Michion and the others explained the events, including Basil Hawkins’ situation, Yake looked at Hawkins with interest, surprised to encounter a Devil Fruit user.

But recruiting new blood for the Navy, especially a Devil Fruit user, was always welcome. After hearing Michion invite Basil Hawkins to join the Navy, Yake tacitly approved.

Basil Hawkins’ reaction surprised Michion. Instead of rejecting the offer outright, he asked if he could sail with them and decide later.

Yake agreed without hesitation, much to Michion’s delight. If Hawkins hadn’t refused, he considered the offer, giving Michion a chance to persuade him.

Once on the ship, there was no way off—except through Michion’s persuasion.

After gathering their supplies, Michion and the others set off for the Ishar Kingdom, taking a new route due to the previous storm.

With clear skies and a warm, salty breeze, Michion and his group set sail.

Basil Hawkins, wearing Shirencur’s Navy uniform because his own was soaked in seawater, brought a smile to Michion’s face.

After all, in the anime, Basil Hawkins was one of the “Supernovas” of the Worst Generation. Now, he stood on a Navy ship, dressed in a Navy uniform, alongside Michion and his crew.

It was a private joke Michion couldn’t share, so he chuckled.
