One Piece: I Can Simplify Skills Chapter 62

On the Move

“Hahaha, you sure found yourself a good disciple!” Shanks chuckled bitterly. Originally, he thought Rokujin might surpass Mihawk in the future, but unexpectedly, Rokujin became Mihawk’s disciple.

Mihawk’s lips curled into a rare smile.

East Blue, Windmill Village.

The villagers were overjoyed to hear that Rokujin had become a Rear Admiral and was returning to East Blue for his new assignment. A child waved a newspaper, running through the village shouting, “Big Brother Rokujin is a Rear Admiral now! He’s coming back to East Blue!”

“Big Brother Rokujin…” In the tavern, Luffy, wearing his straw hat, looked dazed. “Big Brother Rokujin became a Rear Admiral and is coming back. I better run away quickly before he catches me!”

“Haha, Luffy, why would he catch you? He’s your brother!” Makino laughed softly.

“Who knows? Big Brother Rokujin is stronger than me now!” Luffy said, picking his nose.

“Hahaha!” The people around burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, a woman in a black robe standing by the window looked outside with a faint smile. “Is he coming back?”

Daughter Island.

“Big Brother Rokujin is amazing! He’s a Rear Admiral now!” Hancock blushed as she hugged a newspaper featuring Rokujin.

A few days later, Rokujin and a group set off from Marine Headquarters to East Blue for his assignment. Among them were two familiar faces: Barton and Ain. Ain was a Lieutenant and Rokujin’s adjutant, while Barton was an Ensign. Both had benefited from Rokujin’s influence.

The three stood at the ship’s bow, wearing their Marine justice cloaks, looking spirited as they headed to East Blue on a Marine warship. Ain being assigned as Rokujin’s adjutant was likely because she wasn’t a Devil Fruit user, making it a deliberate arrangement. Ain’s Devil Fruit ability was also unique. As for Barton, it was probably due to their time together.

“Rear Admiral Rokujin, I never thought I’d be serving under you!” Ain said with a smile.

“Yes, we both got promoted so quickly, thanks to you,” Barton added.

Rokujin replied, “It’s nothing. We all serve the World Government, so there is no need to be so formal. Just call me Rokujin when no one else is around.”

“Alright!” Ain and Barton exchanged smiles.

Meanwhile, on the Marine Headquarters walls, Zephyr, Sengoku, Vice Admiral Tsuru, and Garp stood together, watching Rokujin’s ship fade into the distance.

“The East Blue! Who knows what kind of trouble that kid will stir up there? Just thinking about it gives me a headache,” Sengoku sighed, shaking his head.

“Hmm?” Zephyr immediately protested, “What do you mean? Rokujin is my disciple. He only acts according to Navy regulations. What’s so troublesome about that?”

“You’ll see soon enough,” Sengoku replied wryly.

Suddenly, Tsuru smiled kindly. “The East Blue is too small. It might not be enough for him.”

“Hmm?” Zephyr raised an eyebrow, puzzled by Tsuru and Sengoku’s comments. He didn’t see Rokujin as a troublemaker but as a talented individual.

Then he noticed Garp, who hadn’t said a word. “Garp, why aren’t you saying anything? Isn’t Rokujin your grandson?”

“Huh? What are you guys talking about? I don’t know,” Garp replied, picking his nose. He had heard everything but pretended otherwise. He knew that Rokujin would inevitably cause trouble in the East Blue.

Seeing this, Zephyr realized Garp was playing dumb and decided not to press further.

Over a month later, in East Blue, at the Marine base.

A Marine Ensign stood at the base’s entrance with all the Marines lined up, standing straight and looking ahead solemnly. Passersby hurried past, not daring to linger.

“What are the Marines doing?”
“Don’t you know? They’re waiting for the new Rear Admiral!”
“I heard he’s a young and handsome officer!”
“…”

Soon, a Marine warship appeared on the horizon. The Marine Ensign immediately led his men to the dock to welcome them.

On the warship, Ain noticed the situation onshore and smiled, “They’ve made quite a grand display. Everyone’s here to greet us.”

“Mostly to greet Rokujin,” Barton added.

“High rank comes with trouble. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have killed so many pirates,” Rokujin said with a wry smile.

The Marines they brought from headquarters numbered around fifty, including Rokujin, Ain, and Barton, so most East Blue Marine base management would still be the local Marines. He wondered what daily tasks they would have.

“…”

Hearing this, Barton and Ain both felt exasperated. They struggled to get promoted, while Rokujin seemed indifferent about it.

As the ship approached the dock, Rokujin recognized the Marine Ensign with a distinctive metal jaw: Morgan.

According to the original storyline, Morgan would become a Marine Captain and be hypnotized by a member of the Black Cat Pirates, becoming cruel and arrogant.

Rokujin’s actions led to Captain Kuro’s death, resulting in Morgan still being an Ensign. Fate works in mysterious ways, and now Rokujin has taken over the management of the Marine base.

Upon seeing Rokujin and his companions, Morgan quickly approached them with a smile, “Rear Admiral Rokujin, I am Ensign Morgan of this Marine base.”

“Let’s go,” Rokujin nodded slightly, feeling that Morgan seemed more intelligent than cruel, likely due to not being hypnotized.

“This way, please!” Morgan gestured with both hands, leading the way for Rokujin. As they reached the Marine base entrance, they saw Marines standing neatly in formation.

Instantly, all the Marines shouted in unison, “Rear Admiral Rokujin!” The loud sound sent a shiver down everyone’s spine.

Rokujin suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of authority, making him stand a little taller. He walked into the Marine base, observing the Marines within. Their strengths varied, ranging from F to D levels.

When Rokujin reached the podium at the front, Morgan stepped forward and announced, “Everyone, please welcome Rear Admiral Rokujin to give us a speech!”

“Clap! Clap! Clap!” Thunderous applause erupted from the crowd.

Rokujin stepped forward, scanning the Marines below with a serious expression. He spoke sternly, “All of you know my name so that I won’t give a long introduction.”

“I am indeed the grandson of Vice Admiral Garp of Marine Headquarters. Many of you might think that I’m young and got this rank through connections, that I don’t deserve to be a Rear Admiral.”

“But standing here today is a testament to my strength, earned by defeating one pirate after another!”

“As Marines, we must uphold the justice in our hearts, serve the people, protect the citizens, and eliminate pirates!”
