A moment later, the naval ship reached the dock at Marine Headquarters. Rokujin followed Garp off the boat, surveying the surrounding Marines. There were regular Marines in plain blue and white uniforms, and others wearing cloaks emblazoned with the word “Justice.” The regular Marines were mostly Level E in strength, while those in cloaks held at least the rank of Warrant Officer and possessed strengths up to Level B.
Suddenly, a slim man wearing a grey round hat hurried towards them. “Vice Admiral Garp!” he called. Garp nodded slightly and introduced the man to Rokujin behind him: “Rokujin, this is my chief of staff, Bogard. You can ask him any questions about swordsmanship!” “Okay, Grandpa,” Rokujin replied cheerily, looking at the man before him and smiling, “Lieutenant Commander Bogard, I look forward to learning from you!” The system couldn’t detect his specific details, indicating his skill was formidable.
【Character: Bogard】
【Level: ???】
【Skills: ???】
Alas, seeing nothing was a bit frustrating! While Rokujin could use energy points to upgrade the system, he was somewhat reluctant to do so, having few energy points to spare.
“Of course,” Bogard nodded slightly. “Come, let’s get your paperwork done.” “Yes, Grandpa!” Led by Garp, they headed towards a large building. Along the way, everyone took second glances at Rokujin, whispering among themselves. “Who is that? Why is he following Vice Admiral Garp?” “Don’t know, maybe Garp’s new disciple?” “Doesn’t seem right. He has a sheathed sword. Maybe he’s learning swordsmanship!” “…”
Soon, the trio arrived at the office of Fleet Admiral Sengoku. Garp paused and said, “Rokujin, wait here at the door. I’ll go inside for a moment.” “Okay, Grandpa!” “Yes, Vice Admiral!” The two stood waiting outside the door. Then, Garp pushed open the door and walked in unceremoniously, tossing Rokujin’s information over, “Sengoku! Sign a paper to let my grandson join the Marine training camp!”
“What? Your grandson? Is he old enough?” Sengoku pushed up his glasses, sceptical. He thought Garp was talking about Luffy or Ace. Especially Ace! The son of the Pirate King joining the Marines would be problematic! “Not them, it’s the grandson I adopted last time in the East Blue, named Rokujin!” Garp picked his nose casually.
“Oh, him! You mentioned him before; it just slipped my mind.” Sengoku realised, picking up the file and frowning, “Intermediate training camp?” “He’s not starting from the beginner’s camp?” “No need! Just sign it!” Garp insisted. “Alright!” Sengoku signed without further discussion. It was his grandson, after all; he must have his reasons. “I’m off!” Garp took the papers and turned to leave, then suddenly remembered something, “Oh, and find someone skilled in swordsmanship to teach my grandson when you have the time.” “Oh? Sure!” Sengoku was intrigued, as Garp rarely made such requests. It seemed his grandson had a talent for swordsmanship.
Time passed unknowingly. The office door opened, and Garp walked out, handing the documents to Bogard with instructions, “Take care of Rokujin’s registration. I’ve got other matters!” “Yes!” Bogard took the documents and watched as Garp left. Meanwhile, the system notification sounded.
【Ding, congratulations, Host, for completing the mission. System Reward: Energy Point +1, Sword Technique ‘Quadruple Slash’ +1!】
Along with the notification, a blue skill book fell into the system inventory, and the energy point increased by one. Rokujin eagerly learned the sword technique and simplified his Armament Haki.
【Ding, ‘Quadruple Slash’ Skill Learned Successfully!】
【Ding, Simplifying Armament Haki!】
【Ding, Simplifying Armament Haki… Simplification Successful… Armament Haki → Toughening!】
“What? Toughening? That could actually work!” Rokujin looked at the simplified skill with a wry smile.
Bogard then said with a smile, “Rokujin, let’s go. I’ll take you to the new recruits’ training camp.” “Okay.” “Vice Admiral Garp seems to have enrolled you in the intermediate camp. I hope you can adapt to the training there.” Bogard offered his advice. “Hmm? What’s the difference?” Rokujin asked, not very familiar with the Marine training camps. “The Marine training camps are divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Only those who pass the beginner’s camp can move on to the intermediate camp, and the same goes for the advanced.” “Moreover, those who graduate from
the advanced camp don’t need to start as privates; some might even be directly promoted to Warrant Officer!” Bogard explained patiently. “Oh! I see!” Rokujin now had a basic understanding of the Marine training camps. Not having been through the beginner’s camp, he might not be suited to the high-intensity training of the intermediate camp, which was a concern.
A few minutes later, Bogard led Rokujin to the Marine training camp. The camp was quite a distance from the headquarters, located on a nearby island. As they walked, they could see numerous Marines engaged in various forms of training. To continue reading the exciting content, please click to the next page!
Basic firearms, swordsmanship, physical fitness, and hand-to-hand combat training filled the air, interspersed with the frequent shouts of the Marines. “Ha! Ha! Ha…” Quickly, Bogard led Rokujin to the office of the chief instructor of the Marine Intermediate Training Camp and pushed open the door, striding in: “Peter, I’ve brought you a new recruit!”
“A new recruit? What sort of recruit needs you to personally bring him over?” Peter Perkins eyed the doorway skeptically, especially upon seeing Rokujin. His suspicion deepened. “He’s quite young, isn’t he? Are you sure he belongs in our intermediate training camp?” “Yes!” Bogard nodded affirmatively.
“Alright then,” said Peter, taking the documents. As he read through them, his expression changed slightly when he saw Garp’s name, asking, “His reference is Vice Admiral Garp? What relation is he to Garp?” “He’s my grandfather!” Rokujin replied with a smile, adding, “Instructor, I hope you won’t give me any special treatment because of my grandfather’s position. Treating me the same as everyone else is fine!”
“Of course, that’s only natural,” Peter responded. “Well, now that I’ve delivered him, I should be going.” “Alright!” Watching Bogard leave, Rokujin didn’t ask anything further, assuming Grandpa Garp had his reasons for the arrangements.
Peter looked at the name on the paperwork and asked, “Rokujin?” “Yes, Instructor!” Rokujin responded. “Well, today just happens to be the first day of the intermediate training camp. Come with me to the camp,” Peter instructed. “Yes, Instructor!” Seeing Rokujin’s respectful demeanour and his actions seemed so well-regulated, almost as if he had attended the beginner’s camp, although his file didn’t mention it. Peter thought to himself that perhaps Vice Admiral Garp had trained him, which could explain the direct placement into the intermediate camp.
