One Piece Quest Fruit Chapter 2

The Cat Who Stole a Bite

Eust took his newly named little white cat, Sunny, and began his “inspection work” on the island.

After walking around the coastline, Eust discovered that this small island was really just a deserted island, much smaller than he had imagined.

The shape of the deserted island felt familiar to Eust. After another round, he realized the entire island was shaped like a “shoehorn.” Oh, that’s why it felt familiar—it’s black soil.

The island was very small, probably only a few square kilometers. The only jungle was the one Eust heard the beastly roars from when he woke up.

However, after thinking for a moment, Eust noticed something unusual. How could such a small deserted island support the survival of large beasts? The beastly roars were highly unscientific.

For his own safety and out of his pounding curiosity, Eust decided to venture into the jungle to see what the beastly roars were all about.

Eust comforted Sunny for a long time before the cat meowed in agreement to stay with the small box while Eust ventured into the jungle alone.

From this, it was clear that Eust’s character was extremely curious and daring. Armed with nothing but a barely usable wooden stick, he dared to explore the “bushes” on an unknown deserted island.

Entering the jungle, Eust found that the plants and insects were nothing special, and he felt somewhat relieved.

Surviving on a deserted island and understanding the surrounding environment was essential for safe survival, especially for protecting against potential dangers at night.

Carefully approaching the source of the beastly roars, Eust pushed aside some bushes and discovered the source of the sound.

The beastly roars in the jungle were actually made by a group of not particularly large birds, about the size of parrots from his previous life. They were birds because they had bird-like characteristics.

Their colorful and very bright feathers, bird-like claws, and beaks all revealed their avian nature.

However, the sounds they made were beastly roars, and quite loud ones at that, leaving Eust somewhat embarrassed for worrying unnecessarily.

Having uncovered the truth behind the jungle’s beastly roars, Eust didn’t rush out of the jungle. Instead, he continued exploring other areas of the jungle. After some exploration, Eust had a general understanding of the jungle.

The largest animals in the jungle were the “Beastly Roar Birds,” as he named them. Besides them, there were common insects from the East Blue, but no common snakes, lizards, or birds. Truly peculiar.

Another important discovery was a spring emerging from a pile of rocks in a corner of the jungle, providing precious fresh water, which made Eust very happy.

For wilderness survival, the four most important things are safety, fresh water, food, and shelter. With two of these already solved, surviving on the deserted island was no longer an issue.

Food was easy to obtain with fruits and animals in the jungle, shellfish by the sea, and fish in the ocean.

As for shelter, it was crucial for maintaining health, protecting against temperature differences between day and night, and shielding from wind and rain. Surviving alone in the wild meant illness could be life-threatening.

Once a fire could be made, shelter problems would be largely solved. Fire could provide necessary warmth, often a major challenge in wilderness survival.

Eust, who was highly skilled in making fire, didn’t need to worry about this on the island, which had plenty of kindling and wood. Starting a fire by rubbing sticks was a simple task.

After finishing his exploration of the jungle, Eust picked some fruits, washed them, and ate as he walked back to the shore. Before he got close, he noticed Sunny lying unusually on the beach.

Additionally, the box containing the Devil Fruit was knocked over. What was going on? I only explored the bushes, and didn’t hunt or steal, and now things have developed like this.

Upon approaching, Eust found the Devil Fruit behind the box and was puzzled. He thought there might be others on the island who took the Devil Fruit, but now what was happening?

Eust checked on the little cat and found it asleep, even when picked up. It was strange, but he didn’t think much of it. Securing the Devil Fruit was important too.

When Eust picked up the Devil Fruit to put it back in the box, he noticed a chunk missing. Damn it, who was so despicable to steal a bite of my Devil Fruit?

Eust vented for a while, then discovered something shocking. The marks on the Devil Fruit suggested that little Sunny had likely stolen it.

Could Sunny have thought it was “meat” and stole a bite? Really speechless.

He hadn’t decided whether to eat the Devil Fruit himself and now it was no longer an issue. He felt a bit amused.

However, Eust didn’t blame the cat much. Firstly, getting the Devil Fruit wasn’t difficult; it was rather casual. Losing it didn’t hurt too much. Really, I wasn’t lying. Why were my eyes always full of tears? Because I deeply loved this land.

Secondly, sometimes being rational meant accepting unchangeable things was the best choice.

Lastly, Sunny was so cute, of course, he’d choose to forgive it. Sunny was very close to him, and its eating the fruit might even help him. Yes, that’s definitely it. Remember to treat Sunny well in the future.

However, Sunny must be taught not to eat random things. In the world of pirates, a person can generally only eat one Devil Fruit; eating a second would cause death. Naturally, he didn’t want the cute Sunny to end up that way. Plus, some things are poisonous. Sunny eating randomly could lead to illness or poisoning.

Sunny, eating random things is truly worrying. Thinking about it is still a bit painful. Maybe in the future, I should utilize the cat’s labor to compensate for my mental losses. Oh, what an excessive thought.

No more fishing or fire-making, better wait for Sunny to wake up and see what power the Devil Fruit gave it.

I am also very curious about Devil Fruit’s powers. In the future, maybe I should find a partner like the genius scientist Vegapunk to study them more deeply.
