After the Mission Fruit absorbed the Devil Fruit that Eust unexpectedly obtained, its potential increased significantly. Sunny was tasked with explaining the new abilities in detail.
“Meow, the first change is the addition of a new executor for the Mission Fruit. This means the Mission Fruit can now have another executor besides Eust. This executor will handle missions just like Eust, with only slight differences in reward distribution and binding requirements. Also, this new executor will never betray us. Meow!”
“Meow, the second change involves three parts. First, mission types. We originally had training missions, hunting missions, and random missions. Now, we’ve added life missions. Second, reward types. Originally, we had power enhancement rewards and treasure rewards. Now, we’ve added life rewards. Third, development directions for the Mission Fruit abilities. We’ve added a life reward enhancement direction. Meow!”
“Wow, those are significant changes!” Eust remarked.
“Meow, the third change allows us to adjust the distribution of mission rewards. Specifically, we now have three options for dividing the rewards between us: 50-50, 60-40, or 40-60. Meow!”
“Hmm, the Mission Fruit’s absorption of the Devil Fruit’s power has expanded and upgraded its original abilities. It’s still essentially the same Mission Fruit, but its capabilities have been greatly enhanced. I feel that consuming the Devil Fruit was completely worth it. The first change alone, adding a second executor, is a game-changing ability. The other two changes, diversifying missions and rewards and adjusting reward distribution, are also very beneficial.”
“Meow, Eust, can we adjust our mission reward distribution? I want to get 60% of the rewards since I’ve been so helpful today. Meow!”
“Sunny, that’s not fair. I’m the one who’s too weak, and you got hurt protecting me. If I were stronger, we could fight side by side. Don’t you want to fight alongside me?” Eust asked, playing on Sunny’s emotions.
“Meow, it’s not that. I like Eust very much. But my goal is to become the strongest strategist cat. Meow!”
“Don’t worry, Sunny. Now that the Mission Fruit can have a second executor, once we find the right person, your power will increase rapidly.”
Eust didn’t agree to Sunny’s request for a bigger share of the rewards. Firstly, Sunny would have the support of a second executor. Secondly, Eust himself was driven by a desire for strength. He didn’t want the adorable Sunny to keep getting hurt while protecting him.
“Meow, I didn’t think of that. In that case, I’ll be kind and not take more of Eust’s rewards. See, I’m a good kitty. Meow!”
“Sunny, you’re the best.”
“Meow, Eust, how will we find a second executor? The Mission Fruit binding requires the consent of me, Eust, and the executor. We need to find someone we get along with. Meow!”
“Sunny, we can’t rush this. When we meet the right person, we’ll invite them to join us.”
“By the way, Sunny, when I became the first executor, I received information that the mission rewards are based on my own abilities. Then they’re divided with you. Will it be the same for the second executor?”
“Meow, yes. For example, if it’s a small increase in physical strength, the exact increase will depend on the base strength of the executor and has nothing to do with my original strength. The same goes for the second executor. It’s based on their situation. Meow!”
“Meow, the specific rewards are determined by the mission reward description and the executor’s own situation, then a portion is given to me. Meow!”
“Sunny, let’s put the Mission Fruit abilities aside for now and check out the loot we got.”
Eust, having understood the changes in the Mission Fruit’s abilities, turned his attention to the other spoils of battle. He had already come to terms with taking down Blood Blade Carl. Carl had clearly intended to kill him and had injured Sunny. Eust had to adapt to the harsh rules of the pirate world.
“Meow, let’s see. Last time I estimated the jewels’ value correctly, but the buyer tried to lowball us. If I’d been there, I wouldn’t have let them get away with it. Meow!”
“Sunny, as I explained, they’re just businessmen. They need to make a profit, so they offered a lower price.”
“Meow, I’m still not happy about it.”
“Yeah, me neither.”
After some time…
“Meow, I’ve roughly estimated that these valuables are worth at least 5 million Berries. We’ve got over 600,000 Berries in cash alone, and plenty of gold coins. A huge haul, Eust! Meow!”
“If that’s the case, we don’t need to sell these valuables right now. Selling them too soon could be risky. We already have enough Berries to support us for a while. With this new cash and the gold coins, we’re set for an even longer period. No need to take unnecessary risks.”
“Meow, I don’t mind. It’s not like you’d take me with you to sell them anyway. Meow!”
Eust and Sunny organized their loot and decided not to go out. Despite Sunny’s remarkable recovery ability, it would still take a few days to fully heal. They planned to spend the rest of the day at the inn.
Sunny rested to recover, ate meat, and drank milk to regain energy. Eust took out some navigation books to study.
Finding a suitable navigator as a companion in the short term wasn’t easy. Eust decided to learn some basic navigation skills himself or have Sunny learn them. They didn’t need to become experts, just enough to get by until they found a proper navigator.
Eust had previously suggested that Sunny learn navigation. Being a strategist cat, Sunny had many advantages.
But Sunny said it hated water and anything related to navigation, so Eust had to learn it himself. He hadn’t read much of the books he bought, so now he had the time to dive into them.
However, Eust soon became frustrated. He couldn’t focus on studying and started thinking about the Mission Fruit’s new ability to obtain life rewards.
Life rewards could include navigation skills. Could they use the Mission Fruit to learn navigation?
Moreover, if the new executor was someone passionate about navigation, their skills could improve rapidly. In time, they could even surpass a genius navigator like Nami.
The idea made Eust laugh. When Sunny asked, Eust shared his thoughts, and Sunny agreed, provided they found the right companion.
Given Eust’s current situation, it wouldn’t be easy to find someone who would recognize him as a leader and follow him. Eust had great ambition and potential but was currently too weak and had little reputation.
Rescuing someone in distress could be an opportunity to “recruit” a companion, similar to how Luffy gained most of his crew. They recognized Luffy’s character and shared dreams, which brought them together.
Eust needed to build his strength and look for suitable talents to become potential companions. When the time was right, he’d invite them to join.
Eust saw himself as the captain and primary combatant. He could learn basic navigation skills but wouldn’t spend too much time on it.
Even now, as Eust read the navigation books, he only aimed to gain a general understanding of how to handle emergencies.
