Eust had the simple idea that a ghost ship couldn’t be separated from water and embarked on a journey to find it, accompanied by the somewhat reluctant Lyra and the curious Sunny.
Though Lyra was somewhat reluctant, her intuition didn’t sense any significant danger, just like last time. However, her intuition only worked for herself, and she was worried about Eust and Sunny, especially since they were injured last time. Lyra naturally didn’t want them to face danger or get hurt.
Since Eust had made up his mind, she couldn’t oppose it but rather support the captain’s decision. She had agreed to follow Eust as the captain when she joined, and while joking was fine, in critical moments, she had to follow the captain’s orders.
Sunny was thinking about what was so dangerous about the ghost ship that worried Lyra. After all, Sunny believed she could easily handle it since she was so powerful.
When Eust and his crew had nearly circled the island’s coastline, they encountered the group mentioned by the innkeeper. According to the innkeeper, they had arrived on the island just this morning.
There were five of them in total, led by a bald giant over two meters tall, who carried a distinctive weapon, a spiked club. Eust recognized him immediately.
The four others were naturally his subordinates. From their distance, it seemed his subordinates feared the giant.
The giant always carried a spiked club, indicating his great strength. Otherwise, he wouldn’t choose such a weapon. His four subordinates were more normal, with average builds and long swords as weapons.
Eust viewed them as competitors but wouldn’t provoke them. He remained cautious to prevent them from stealing his findings. Eust might be an expert at taking advantage of others, but he hated it when others did the same to him.
The other party also noticed Eust’s group but didn’t pay much attention: a boy, a young girl, and a little cat. Who would take them seriously?
After a brief encounter, Eust continued to explore the coastline based on his own ideas.
Eust’s results were disappointing; he didn’t find any trace of the ghost ship. However, he knew this was normal.
The information Eust gathered indicated that the ghost ship seemed to be “avoiding” humans, being spotted less frequently. It was normal not to find anything with a simple “island tour.”
Although the island was small, Eust needed to explore every part thoroughly. By the time they finished, it was already late.
There was no inn in the village, so Eust decided to return to their small boat. Though the cabin wasn’t large, it was a decent place.
However, when they returned to their hidden boat, Eust found that someone had visited it.
Though they only lost some spare supplies, the boat was generally intact, but the cabin was a mess. This made Eust furious, wanting to chop the culprit to pieces.
Fortunately, their valuables were stored in Sunny’s mission space; otherwise, they would have been completely robbed. The mess indicated that the culprits searched the cabin and, finding nothing valuable, messed up the supplies before leaving.
Lyra and Sunny were also furious. The boat was like their second home, and seeing it in such a state naturally angered them.
After calming down a bit, Eust told Lyra and Sunny to stay aside while he examined the traces left by the culprits.
Without even using the enhanced sensitivity from the mission fruit reward, Eust quickly identified the culprits by a dent not far from the shore. It was clearly made by a heavy object, leading Eust to recall the group of five they had just encountered. The dent was exactly the mark of the bald giant’s spiked club.
Eust muttered,
“Damn, I didn’t plan to do anything to you, but you provoked me first. So what if you’re strong and big? I’ll teach you a lesson.”
After muttering to himself, Eust shared his deduction with Lyra and Sunny, who were also not the most patient individuals.
“Those bastards better not fall into my hands, or they’ll suffer.”
“Meow, damn bastards! How dare they? I’ll show them what I can do.”
“No need to get excited. I didn’t say I’d let them off. I just told you the basics. As the captain, I’ll lead our 8,000 crew members to settle the score… well, it’s actually just the three of us. Are you afraid? Do you dare to follow me?”
“Meow, I’m not afraid. Eust, don’t underestimate me.”
“Sunny, Eust is joking. From his tone, you can tell he doesn’t take them seriously. Besides, we only have two crew members, not 8,000.”
“Haha, Lyra got it. Only their leader has some strength. The others are just slightly stronger than normal people. I can handle them myself.”
“Meow, I want to scratch them too.”
“I can handle it. Sunny, you’re our ace. You shouldn’t act rashly.”
“Meow, okay.”
“Lyra, do you remember the small pier we passed when we first arrived?”
“Of course, Eust.”
“The bald guy’s ship is docked there.”
“Oh, Eust, you’re observant. I saw a small boat there with someone guarding it but didn’t pay much attention. Thinking back, the innkeeper said only we and the bald guy’s group are outsiders. It’s easy to deduce that the boat belongs to them.”
Eust had noticed the small boat at the pier when they first arrived. It was guarded and clearly belonged to outsiders.
Their boat had no guard. Following Lyra’s advice, they hid their boat, but it didn’t help much.
The bald guy’s group was also here for the ghost ship, so they naturally checked the coastline, leading to their boat being targeted.
Eust wondered if the local fishing boats were also affected. Without seeing any fishing boats, he pondered how the ghost ship rumors would spread if they didn’t fish. There must be some secret behind it, but they couldn’t worry about it for now. They needed to clean the cabin and prepare dinner. Tomorrow, they’d teach the bald guy’s group a lesson and question the innkeeper for more information.
“Alright, we’ve identified the culprits. The bald guy’s group is also here for the ghost ship and arrived this morning. They won’t give up easily.”
“It’s getting late today. We’ll let them off for now, but tomorrow, we’ll show them and make sure we find the ghost ship first, making their efforts in vain.”
“Meow, I trust your decision, Eust.”
“Yes, I understand.”
“Let’s clean the cabin.”
“Meow, I don’t have hands to help.”
“I’ll help.”
