After the “terrorist attack,” Eust and his crew landed on a deserted island to rest and recover.
By the fifth day, Eust’s injuries had improved, Lilith had gathered enough energy to reconstruct the small fishing boat, and Sunny had mostly regained her full strength.
By the seventh day, Eust’s injuries were almost fully healed, and he had resumed activities like fishing, able to fight at 80-90% of his strength, with his overall strength slightly increased.
Eust mused that combat is a way to enhance strength, even though he hadn’t managed to hurt the highly defensive Candy Man.
“Hey, getting beaten also increases my resilience, and I genuinely feel stronger as I recover. I suspect that in this pirate world, the harder you get hit, the more your strength increases.”
Moreover, Eust scored another success in fishing, allowing Lilith to gather enough food to construct the small sailboat form of the Lilith ship.
By the ninth day, Eust had fully recovered, and Lilith had completed her final ship form.
In recent days, Lila continued to study navigation. With her natural talent and passion, becoming a top-notch navigator was just a matter of time.
Sunny, after the battle with Candy Man, also saw an increase in strength. Her battle mode transformation duration increased, and side effects diminished.
With everyone recovered and ready, Eust’s crew prepared to set off the next day, their destination still Hertz Island.
This unexpected delay, more severe than the storm they encountered, required almost ten days for Eust to recover and for Lilith to reconstruct her ship form.
Even with Eust’s enhanced recovery from the mission fruit, it took considerable time. Eust wondered if he could find a good doctor or even a Devil Fruit user with healing abilities. Long-term sea adventures necessitate having a doctor on board. Injuries without proper medical care waste time and hinder high-intensity training.
After this incident, Eust became more focused on finding a medical talent for his crew.
The next day, Eust and his crew set off early. This time, they encountered no surprises and reached Hertz Island by noon on the third day.
Stepping onto Hertz Island, Eust and his crew were filled with mixed emotions. What they thought would be a routine sea journey had turned into a series of challenges: a storm, battles with pirates and marines, and an attack from the deranged Candy Man.
Both the storm and Candy Man’s attack were extremely dangerous and could have wiped out Eust’s crew. Thanks to their teamwork, they safely reached the island.
After reflecting on their journey, Eust, Lila, and Sunny headed to the residential area of Hertz Island, leaving the Lilith ship anchored at the coast. Lilith, with ample energy reserves, was safe.
Eust recalled his cautious approach of hiding the ship on Ghost Island, thinking it wasn’t a bad strategy. Who knows what dangers lurk on an island that could damage the ship?
With Lilith, Eust’s worries were lessened. If docked at a managed port, there were no concerns, and at an unattended coast, Lilith’s ample energy could deter troublemakers.
Hertz Island, known for its iron mines, was surprisingly desolate when they arrived.
Curious about the stark contrast, Eust learned from a passing local that the island’s prosperity and subsequent decline were both due to the iron mines.
As the iron mines depleted, the island fell into decline, unable to quickly transition to a new industry.
While dining at a restaurant, Eust overheard discussions about the future after the iron mines, with most patrons working in related fields.
Eust’s main concern, however, was the Black Bear Pirates. Initially targeting the Black Bear Pirates while exploring, this quest became his obsession after the series of mishaps.
“Damn it, after all the hardships we’ve been through, we must destroy the Black Bear Pirates, or it would be a joke. This captain is very angry, and the consequences are severe.”
Eust learned two key points about the Black Bear Pirates: first, they had left the island over ten days ago; second, before leaving, they destroyed an iron mining family, causing significant collateral damage to innocent residents. As a result, Captain Bill Bravan of the Black Bear Pirates now had a 1,000,000 Berry bounty from the navy.
The first point, that they had left, was expected but still disappointing for Eust.
The second point, Bravan’s bounty, didn’t bother Eust much. In fact, he thought claiming this bounty would be a good achievement after defeating the 800,000 Berry Blue Wolf.
Armed with this information and having finished their meal, Eust’s crew returned to the Lilith ship.
Eust was determined to track the Black Bear Pirates. They wouldn’t easily reveal their course to avoid the navy, making Lila’s navigational expertise crucial.
Despite the challenges, Eust was set on eliminating the Black Bear Pirates and enhancing his pirate hunter reputation.
Eust planned to analyze the pirates’ possible routes with Lila, then use Lilith’s superior sailing capabilities to gradually catch up.
Even knowing it would be tough to track the pirates, Eust was resolute. “Damn it, I can’t let this go. Bill Bravan, you’re dead meat.”
