Five days later, in the early morning, Nokiyoru, refreshed and with his injuries finally healed, found his strength significantly enhanced.
With fervent energy, over 200 Marines continued their training as usual by the seaside, each day bringing new developments.
Ignoring the crowd, Nokiyoru was enveloped in flames, soaring into the sky and disappearing swiftly into the horizon.
Returning to the same spot, Nokiyoru descended like a meteor, emanating a powerful aura, ready for a fierce clash.
“Roar…” Amidst a surge of anger, a golden monkey suddenly appeared among the rubble, glaring hoarsely at Nokiyoru.
Smirking, Nokiyoru wasted no time transforming into his full beast form, engulfed in flames, and charged straight at the ground.
“Roar…” The golden monkey roared back, manifesting three heads and six arms, crouching slightly before launching like a cannonball toward the clouds.
“Squawk…”
“Roar…”
A bird and a monkey clashed mid-air, causing a storm of chaos and flame to tear through the sky. Thunderous roars and blazing fire filled the air, shaking the earth.
Hours later, a blaze plummeted from the sky, violently trembling the ground, and countless boulders pierced through the air with astonishing force.
Nokiyoru coughed up blood, pale-faced, weakening as he fell into a deep pit.
“Roar…” Filled with frustration and humiliation, a monkey lay pitifully among the rubble, emitting a scent of flesh, gazing painfully in the direction Nokiyoru had disappeared.
That day, the Marines training witnessed their injured vice admiral returning.
Three days later, a blaze shot up into the sky from the warship.
Returning to the same spot, man and monkey engaged in fierce combat, flames raging, the earth splitting apart.
Several hours later, the 200 recruits witnessed their vice admiral returning injured.
Two days later, another blaze shot up from the deck, followed by man and monkey battling again.
However, this time, the monkey could no longer suppress the giant bird; both sides were evenly matched, with the bird gaining the upper hand.
Time and again, whether day or night, the 200 recruits could always sense the earth’s tremors.
Unbeknownst to them, it had been 25 days since Nokiyoru and the others arrived at Savage Beast Island. Originally scheduled for six forms of training, Nokiyoru had given everyone an additional 10 days; now, due to the monkey’s presence, they had an extra 5 days for practice.
That day, Nokiyoru arrived promptly at the central location, as always, exuding a violent aura.
As usual, whenever Nokiyoru emitted his aura, the golden monkey would appear. But today, after waiting for over ten minutes, not a single hair of it appeared.
Frowning, Nokiyoru vanished and reappeared on a small mountain because this was the monkey’s home.
A colossal tree, lush beyond measure, cast a shadow like a dark cloud obscuring the sunlight.
Beneath the giant tree stood a large stone tub, within which flowed a golden liquid emitting a strong aroma of wine; nearby, a large stone displayed an array of fruits across the island.
Atop the large stone, a golden monkey blinked its eyes, drooling, lost in a blissful dream.
Seeing this scene, Nokiyoru’s face twitched, his entire being suddenly emanating a terrifying aura. In an instant, sand and stones flew, intense heat covering the area.
I originally thought that merely emitting this provocative aura would prompt the monkey to come forward and taunt him.
But today, everything changed because the monkey yawned, opened its eyes, glanced at Nokiyoru for a few seconds, and completely ignored him. It rolled over and continued to squint, almost dozing off.
Seeing this unusual behavior, Nokiyoru was puzzled. In previous days, this monkey would have roared and attacked him immediately. But now… was it ignoring him?
Nokiyoru’s initially proud expression turned even more exaggerated.
He appeared before the stone tub with a flicker and boldly declared, “You foolish monkey, this lord is going to drink your wine.”
However, the monkey simply glanced indifferently, its golden eyes flashing with a single emotion: contempt.
Yes, absolute contempt. Somehow, Nokiyoru understood that look.
With a darkened expression, Nokiyoru drank a few sips of the wine, intentionally wasting much of it. Yet the monkey acted as if it didn’t see him, leaving only a red-hot bottom for Nokiyoru.
Unmoved by this blatant disregard, Nokiyoru’s face darkened further, his entire being on alert. He approached the monkey and kicked its bottom, but the monkey only scratched its bottom and turned away.
“Hey! Get up and fight me,” Nokiyoru grimaced, plucking a few hairs from the monkey.
“Squeak… Squeak…” The monkey seemed tired and weak, standing up. Nokiyoru thought it was about to retaliate, so he jumped two meters away, tensing up in readiness for battle.
However, the monkey glanced disdainfully at Nokiyoru and then dismissively waved its hand, indicating it didn’t want to engage with Nokiyoru.
This action, combined with its expression, instantly darkened Nokiyoru’s face even more.
“Are you going to fight or not?” Nokiyoru’s face was grim.
“Squeak…” The monkey huffed and puffed, coldly snorted and arrogantly raised its head.
“Hmph, then I’ll force you to fight,” Nokiyoru appeared next to the monkey in an instant, his fist wrapped in terrifying flames, ready to strike.
However, to his surprise, the monkey didn’t dodge or retaliate; it stood still without any intention to fight back.
Nokiyoru halted his attack at this critical moment, freezing his fist inches from the monkey’s face, looking visibly displeased.
“Why?”
“Squeak…”
“You find it boring?” Nokiyoru raised an eyebrow.
“Squeak…” The monkey nodded vigorously, its tail swaying from side to side.
During this time spent fighting with this monkey, Nokiyoru developed a peculiar bond forged through battles.
“Squeak…” The monkey jumped off the giant stone and brought the stone tub directly from under the big tree to Nokiyoru, squeaking incessantly while pointing at the tub.
“You want me to take it away? And never come to bother you again?” Nokiyoru’s expression was odd.
“Squeak…” The monkey vigorously nodded its head.
“Why are you giving this to me?”
“Squeak…”
Man and beast continued to communicate peacefully, exchanging words for the first time.
In the end, Nokiyoru didn’t know how he returned to the warship, but he was utterly bewildered at that moment.
Back on the warship, Nokiyoru pondered, and a thought crossed his mind.
At night, under the moonlight, Nokiyoru and Parkas appeared under the big tree, carrying various grilled meats and food in their hands.
“Monkey, come out.”
“Squeak… What are you here for again?” Without any warning, a golden monkey appeared out of thin air. Its speed shocked Parkas beside Nokiyoru.
“I brought delicious food for you.” Nokiyoru raised his hand, indicating the goodies he had.
Sniffing the air, the monkey leaped around, and before Parkas could react, the food in Nokiyoru’s hand disappeared.
“Squeak… You’re not bad.”
That night, no one knew what the two men and the monkey talked about or did. All they knew was the next day, many recruits noticed their vice admiral had a new, golden monkey companion.
Most importantly, Parkas, the vice admiral’s most trusted subordinate, showed up the next day with a bruised and swollen face, looking extremely bleak.
In the following five days, Nokiyoru planned to push them even harder. During these fifteen days, almost half of the 200 recruits had mastered at least one of the six forms, albeit they could have been more proficient. Nonetheless, their physical abilities had soared like flying, and Nokiyoru believed it wouldn’t be long before all 200 mastered all six forms—it was just a matter of time.
Although dozens of the other 80 eliminated recruits had also learned one of the six forms, Nokiyoru didn’t allow them to rejoin. Instead, he intended to hand them over to Zefa.
Thus, in the final five days, Nokiyoru spared no effort, pushing these 200 subordinates to their limits. Despite their suffering, they had no complaints because their vice admiral was there with them, training at three to even six times their intensity.
