One Piece: Song of Despair Chapter 45

The Whitebeard Pirates

The following day, Nokiyoru yawned, still sleepy and groggy, stretching lazily.

After freshening up, Nokiyoru arrived at the Marine base and headed straight to the office of the highest commander.

Pushing open the door and observing the scene inside, Nokiyoru was surprised.

“Huh! Onigumo, didn’t you go home last night?” Nokiyoru smirked, looking at the towering pile of documents.

“Don’t talk to me; I might kill you,” Onigumo muttered, buried in paperwork, not even lifting his head.

“Tsk…”

Nokiyoru clicked his tongue, planning to leave. However…

“Rogue Town is in chaos lately. Many pirates have come to the island. Think of a solution. Don’t dump everything on me; my energy is limited.”

Seeing Nokiyoru about to leave, Onigumo looked up, his expression extremely annoyed.

“Alright.” Nokiyoru noticed the panda’s eyes and nodded slightly.

After breakfast, Nokiyoru returned to the Marine base and assembled all the Marines, issuing only one order.

“Every pirate on the island, leave none behind.”

With this command, the entire island’s Marines mobilized. There were nearly five thousand, including Nokiyoru’s subordinates.

Rogue Town, with its many restaurants, was bustling.

Here, you could see many pirates, each with a fierce expression, exuding a bandit-like aura.

But today, Rogue Town fell into chaos. Marines with weapons were everywhere, capturing pirates without discrimination.

Nokiyoru’s subordinates led the charge, most of whom had mastered at least one of the Six Powers.

“What’s going on? Have the Marines gone mad?” Some pirates looked grim, constantly resisting.

“I’m from the Crocodile Pirates. Do you dare arrest me?”

“I don’t care which pirate crew you’re from. Behave yourself.”

“Boom…”

“Tat-tat-tat…”

Curses, gunshots, and fighting sounds filled Rogue Town as pirates clashed with Marines everywhere.

“Rear Admiral, we’ve found pirates with bounties over 50 million.” In front of a barbecue stand, a Marine reported to Nokiyoru.

“Which of you three will go?” Nokiyoru asked, eating a skewer of lamb.

“I’ll go,” said Pacas, wiping his mouth.

As time passed, high-bounty pirates were discovered all over the island. Nokiyoru’s monkey, Aokiji, and others left the barbecue stand to handle these powerful pirates.

“Bad news, Rear Admiral! The Whitebeard Pirates have been found. Captain Aokiji can’t hold on much longer.” A panting, flustered Marine, sweating profusely, ran over as Nokiyoru ate alone.

“What? The Whitebeard Pirates?” Nokiyoru couldn’t believe his ears. If he remembered correctly, these guys would become the sea’s rulers, the strongest of the Four Emperors, in a few years.

“Yes… it’s the Whitebeard Pirates, the ones who fought against the Pirate King.” The soldier trembled, his legs shaking.

“This is trouble. Why would such monsters appear here?” Nokiyoru’s face darkened. Was it because of him?

“Whoosh…” Flames flickered and soared. In an instant, Nokiyoru vanished into the sky.

Marineford, the conference room, Sengoku wore a grim expression.

“Fleet Admiral Kong, we’ve received news that Whitebeard has appeared in Rogue Town.”

“Rogue Town?” Tsuru frowned.

“Why would that monster appear there?” Kong looked thoughtful, feeling uneasy.

“Zeff and Garp are in the West Blue. Can we get them over there?” Kong asked again.

“It might be difficult,” Sengoku shook his head.

“Tsuru, have you thought of something?”

“Perhaps we were mistaken. There’s only one reason for Whitebeard to appear there,” Tsuru said gravely, raising a finger.

“Gol D. Roger,” Kong and Sengoku’s faces darkened.

“Notify Zeff and Garp immediately. Sengoku, take Akainu and Kizaru to Rogue Town now. If necessary, capture Roger or Whitebeard,” Kong quickly instructed, looking extremely grim.

“Yes…”

“What are they up to?” Kong and Tsuru racked their brains, pondering the possibilities.

“With Nokiyoru and Aokiji there, I hope Whitebeard isn’t targeting them,” Kong rubbed his forehead, worried that Whitebeard might be aiming to eliminate future threats to the Marines. After all, the Whitebeard Pirates had the means to quickly obtain information about the Marines’ top prospects.

“They shouldn’t. Whitebeard is proud,” Tsuru said confidently.

“Better safe than sorry,” Kong’s forehead throbbed.

Rogue Town, western coast.

“Ice Age,” shrouded in cold air, Aokiji, looking severe and disheveled, launched his attack.

“How terrifying. Is this one of the Marine Academy’s four monsters?”

A massive pirate ship loomed on the sea, calming the entire ocean.

“It seems Jozu is struggling,” said the first division commander Marco on the deck.

“Impossible. With Jozu’s strength, he should easily crush his opponent,” sneered Vista, the fifth division commander beside Marco.

“Kurarararara… that little Marine is not to be underestimated. Jozu might be at a disadvantage,” said a towering figure at the front, exuding unparalleled dominance, his sharp eyes like the sun, eternal and unyielding.

At first glance, he was imposing; at the second, invincible. This man, like a legend, commanded respect, exuding boundless dominance.

“Even Dad has given such high praise? I really want to try him,” said Vista, the fifth division commander, excitedly.

“Vista, you mustn’t. This is Jozu’s fight. If you intervene, you’ll disgrace Dad,” Marco shook his head, deeply concerned about his father’s reputation. He didn’t want anyone to say Whitebeard relied on numbers to win.

“Kurarararara… Watch closely. The next era belongs to you. This little guy will be your formidable opponent in the future,” the towering figure with broad shoulders, known as the world’s most muscular man, Whitebeard, Edward Newgate, said.

“I can’t wait…” The division commanders’ eyes sparkled, all looking towards the battle on the shore.

“Glinting Impact,” crystal clear under the sunlight, a crystalline humanoid figure shattered the ground, attacking like a meteor.

“Shave. Ice Time,” the figure vanished, surrounded by extreme cold, instantly encasing Jozu in ice.

“Armament. Impact,” completely black, crashing forward without hesitation.

“Bang…” A mighty clash, the cold air biting, shattered ice quickly reformed.

“He’s truly terrifying, Whitebeard’s third division commander, a Diamond Fruit user.”

Keeping his distance, Aokiji exhaled cold air, looking severe.

“You’re not bad either, one of the Marine’s four monsters, an Ice-Ice Fruit user,” Jozu moved his body, dispersing the stiffness.

Outside, many influential pirate crews knew the Marines had produced four promising talents: Akainu, Sakazuki, a Magma-Magma Fruit user; Kizaru, Borsalino, a Glint-Glint Fruit user; Aokiji, Kuzan, an Ice-Ice Fruit user; and lastly, Sky Bird Nokiyoru Kara, an Ancient Zoan, Flame-Flame Bird Fruit user.

All were Devil Fruit users capable of catastrophic destruction.

Without a doubt, these four were expected to become the next Vice Admirals or even Admirals, prompting many pirates to investigate them.

“Ice Blade,” the figure vanished, leaving a cold trace. Aokiji appeared above Jozu, wielding an ice blade and slashing down.

“So, what’s the purpose of your Whitebeard Pirates being here?”

“Armament. Hardening.”

Colorful, a diamond arm wrapped in Haki met the challenge head-on.

“Hahaha… no purpose.”

“Bang…”

Dust and debris flew; Jozu stepped back, shattering the ice under his feet.

Aokiji flipped back and then launched another attack.

“Boom… Boom…” With continuous explosions and relentless combat, both fighters were heavily injured within moments.

“Jozu is going to lose,” Whitebeard narrowed his eyes on the deck, an overwhelmingly powerful aura pressing in his chest.

“No, they’re evenly matched.”

“No, Jozu has already lost. He’s been infiltrated by the cold,” Marco, the first division commander, showed his keen insight.

As the battle continued on the shore, Jozu’s face turned blue and purple, and he felt his body functions rapidly declining.

“Bang…” Passing each other, Jozu paused, and Aokiji seized the opportunity, freezing Jozu’s lower half.

“It looks like I’ve won,” Aokiji said, spreading his arms, cold air swirling. His eyes focused, forming another ice blade.

“Jozu was careless. Marco, retrieve Jozu. We’re returning to the New World,” Whitebeard ordered, shaking his head.

“Yes…” With blue flames burning, a mythical phoenix trailed by a rainbow soared across the sky.

“Hmm? Interesting,” Whitebeard suddenly looked up, a smile forming, muttering, “It seems Marco has found a worthy opponent.”

“Boom…” Air exploded, a fire streaking across the sky like a meteor.

“Bang…” Red and blue collided in the air, dazzling like stars, a surreal spectacle.

“Boom…” With a loud bang, a blue figure fell from the sky. Instantly, countless rocks upheaved, the beach violently shaking, a scorching aura spreading throughout.

“Sky Bird Nokiyoru Kara.

Not bad, kid.” Whitebeard watched the flaming figure floating in the sky with interest.
