The next day, at the highest naval residence in Loguetown, Nokiyoru, his body wrapped in bandages, read the newspaper with a calm expression.
“Tomorrow, Admiral Zephyr, Vice Admiral Garp, and Admiral Sengoku will arrive in Loguetown. Prepare the welcoming ceremony.”
Looking down, Onigumo had a gloomy expression, constantly approving documents in his hands.
“Why are they coming?” Nokiyoru was a bit surprised, putting down the newspaper and frowning.
“What do you think?” Onigumo’s face darkened. Whenever he saw Nokiyoru, he felt an inexplicable, particularly intense anger.
Yesterday, this lunatic messed up the entire Loguetown and confronted the Whitebeard Pirates. When he received the news, he was almost scared to death.
Reckless and fearless; that was the only way to describe this madman.
As he wished, when he saw this guy yesterday, he was covered in injuries, which made Onigumo both happy and worried.
“Didn’t Whitebeard leave?” Nokiyoru’s expression remained indifferent, his eyes flashing with a golden light.
“How would I know? I’m just informing you. Don’t worry, when Admiral Sengoku arrives, I will report everything that happened in the past few days.”
“Do as you please. I don’t care.” With his legs crossed, Nokiyoru disdainfully glanced at Onigumo.
“Get lost.” Onigumo’s chest heaved violently as he glared at Nokiyoru with eyes as wide as a bull’s.
“Work hard.” With a calm expression, Nokiyoru put down the newspaper, ignoring Onigumo’s anger, and left the office leisurely.
A day later, at the port of Loguetown, Nokiyoru appeared with all the Marines.
Due to three consecutive days of cleaning, Loguetown had not yet recovered. There were still broken houses, potholes, and the remnants of war everywhere.
In these three days, with all the Marines mobilized, including the mighty Marines like Nokiyoru and Aokiji, the surrounding sea area of Loguetown had calmed down.
Even if there were pirates, there were only a few small ones. As a result, the entire Loguetown was filled with a joyous atmosphere.
Moreover, the Marines compensated for all the damages, which made the civilians of Loguetown particularly fond of the Marines stationed there.
Of course, the most famous were the five individuals, four people and a monkey.
Nokiyoru, Aokiji, Onigumo, Pacas, and the monkey. Unbeknownst to many, the monkey could now eat whatever it wanted for free because the civilians of Loguetown had witnessed their prowess, especially Nokiyoru and Aokiji, who seemed god-like, making all pirates leave with no return.
Therefore, despite Loguetown being worn, the residents were all happy.
Soon, three massive warships appeared on the horizon.
“They’re here.” Nokiyoru squinted his eyes because he saw Zephyr.
An hour later, in Onigumo’s office, the atmosphere was tense.
“Nokiyoru, you were reckless this time,” Zephyr said, his tone worried as he looked at the bandaged Nokiyoru.
“No, master. At least now I know the gap between us and those monsters.” Nokiyoru shook his head, not discouraged but filled with intense fighting spirit.
“Haha… As expected of the fearless Sky Bird. That nickname suits you,” Garp laughed heartily, sipping his tea with a carefree attitude.
“Admiral Sengoku, these documents need handling during this period in Loguetown.” At the desk, Onigumo handed Sengoku a stack of documents as tall as a person, his expression serious.
As expected, with Sengoku’s arrival, the highest command in Loguetown temporarily changed hands.
“So many?” Sengoku rubbed his forehead, put on his toad glasses, and began to work.
Instantly, the entire room was filled with the sound of Sengoku working while the other carefree individuals enjoyed snacks and tea like carefree gods.
“Nokiyoru, what do you think of Whitebeard?” Zephyr’s face was calm, but his brows were furrowed.
“Unmatched.” Holding a teacup, Nokiyoru felt a lingering fear but quickly replaced it with an intense fighting spirit. “But one day, I will surpass him.”
Everyone was stunned, and then Garp laughed loudly. “That’s the spirit! But that man’s fists are very hard.”
“So what? This world belongs to the prepared youth,” Nokiyoru said, full of spirit and determination in his eyes.
“Well said, well said, a well-prepared young man indeed.” Zephyr smiled, relieved that Nokiyoru wasn’t discouraged but had become more mature.
“Hmph… If it were me, Whitebeard would already be in prison.” Akainu’s expressionless face sneered disdainfully.
“Dead dog, what else can you do besides rabidly barking?” Nokiyoru glanced sideways, feeling that even looking at Akainu sullied his eyes.
“Aiya… They’re about to start arguing again,” Kizaru muttered helplessly.
Sure enough, as Kizaru finished speaking, Akainu stood up angrily, disgustedly. “Damn bird, you were just lucky. I could take care of such pirates with one move, unlike some people who were defeated with a single punch.”
“Trash, if not for someone protecting you, you’d be dead already, not here barking,” Nokiyoru sat down, feeling like he was talking to an idiot, an especially arrogant and ignorant one.
“What did you say?” Akainu’s eyes turned blood-red.
“Want to fight? Perfect, I’m in a particularly bad mood,” Nokiyoru stood up with a bang, exuding killing intent.
“Bang…”
“Both of you, quiet down,” Sengoku couldn’t take it anymore, slamming the table and causing the room to tremble.
“Hmph…” Akainu’s face darkened as he sat down, staring intently at Nokiyoru.
“Trash,” Nokiyoru sneered.
“Grit… grit…” Akainu’s forehead veins bulged, gripping his chair tightly, his chest heaving, and smoke rising from his body.
“Enough…” The room trembled again as Sengoku’s face turned grim, his eyes quietly fixed on Nokiyoru.
“Why have we lost 1.5 billion Beli recently?”
“Loguetown was destroyed by pirates,” Nokiyoru raised an eyebrow.
“So you let the Marines take full responsibility?”
“Isn’t it right? Aren’t the Marines supposed to protect civilians?” Nokiyoru feigned surprise.
“Good… good…” Sengoku’s face twitched. Even if everyone knew the truth, some things couldn’t be openly discussed.
“Admiral Sengoku, I request to return to Marineford,” Onigumo broke the awkward silence.
“Why?” Everyone looked at Onigumo.
“With Nokiyoru and Aokiji here, Loguetown is fine. I request to be transferred to another branch.” Onigumo’s face was calm, but his heart was excited. He thought, finally, I can leave this place.
“Denied. Major General Nokiyoru has praised you as an invaluable Marine with unique insights into handling affairs. The people here trust you, and the Marines cannot deny your contributions.”
Onigumo’s face contorted as if he had lost a loved one, his eyes glaring.
“Admiral Sengoku, I request that Onigumo be made the highest commander of Loguetown,” Nokiyoru added fuel to the fire.
Sengoku pondered. When he arrived in Loguetown, despite the destruction, the people were smiling, and Nokiyoru had said he only chased pirates while Onigumo handled everything else. Onigumo had high political awareness, making Sengoku look at him respectfully.
“Then it’s decided.”
“Admiral Sengoku, I…”
“Onigumo, thank Admiral Sengoku. Are you defying orders?” Nokiyoru interrupted Onigumo.
“You…” Onigumo’s eyes reddened, thinking this guy might as well be dead.
“Now, let’s discuss the Whitebeard Pirates.” Sengoku steered the conversation back to their primary goal.
“Nokiyoru, what do you think of Whitebeard’s strength?”
“Strong.”
“I heard you defeated Marco the Phoenix and Aokiji defeated Jozu the Diamond?”
“That was an accident. In a real fight, the outcome is uncertain.” Nokiyoru shook his head, lifting his bandaged right hand.
Everyone turned their gaze to Aokiji.
“Besides that monster, the rest shouldn’t be underestimated.” Aokiji unconsciously rubbed his chest, still bruised.
“That’s the worrying part. They are young and have great potential. Under Whitebeard’s protection, in a few years…” Sengoku rubbed his forehead, not finishing the sentence, but everyone understood his concern.
“Yo… yo… I’d like to see if the Phoenix is truly immortal,” Kizaru said calmly, feeling he had the right to say so.
“There’s nothing magma can’t consume. Diamonds? Hmph… only some people would be so embarrassed,” Akainu provocatively said, taking the chance to annoy Nokiyoru.
“Frog in a well, ignorant,” Nokiyoru squinted, exuding a dangerous aura.
Even Aokiji looked displeased.
“Aiya… I meant nothing by it, just talking casually,” Kizaru waved his hand, his head aching.
“Ugh…” These
Two couldn’t stop arguing, leaving everyone speechless.
Here’s an explanation. Don’t be surprised if terms like “descendants of the dragon” or “Huaxia” appear.
This is to give the protagonist a background and the origin of the Devil Fruit, and there won’t be new characters, only original ones.
Farmer explains that we shouldn’t take this novel seriously. If you do, you’ll find many loopholes. Readers of Farmer’s previous book will understand.
Honestly, Farmer didn’t want to write a clichéd One Piece fanfic, and it might not suit everyone’s taste, so apologies.
As for the protagonist’s love interest, it might be a bit challenging.
