Outside the cage, the fires were ignited by the freed slaves who knocked over the braziers, causing crimson flames to lick at the surrounding buildings.
Thick smoke billowed, and flames erupted everywhere!
The slaves scattered, and the guards from Mariejois surged forth, creating chaos in the slave area.
Evan protected the three girls behind him, hanging back and moving with the other slaves towards the outside of Mariejois.
Creak!
The blazing prison cage collapsed, covering and crushing some of the slaves.
“ROOM!”
Evan created a circular space to shield against the flames and debris, leading the last group of slaves out.
“Mr. Evan, over here!” called Fisher Tiger from outside. Evan moved towards him.
“Get them out of here quickly! The Navy and the Celestial Dragon’s guards will react soon!” urged Fisher Tiger.
“No! I can’t leave yet,” Evan shook his head, as he wasn’t sure if Robin was in Mariejois. How could he leave halfway?
“I’m going deeper into Mariejois to investigate!” he declared firmly.
“What! Are you crazy?!” Fisher Tiger was shocked. Once the World Government reacted, it would be too late.
“It’s fine, I can escape unscathed!” Evan said confidently. With his spatial abilities, if he wanted to leave, no one could stop him.
This was his confidence after escaping from prison.
“You must survive!” Fisher Tiger said, staring at him.
Evan patted his shoulder, marking it with a spatial imprint. “We’ll drink together sometime. For now, get them out of here!”
With that, Evan charged back into the direction opposite the fleeing slaves, diving headfirst into the sea of flames.
“You!” The three girls cried out in panic, but the flames obscured even his shadow.
“Sigh.” Fisher Tiger sighed, not understanding why Evan insisted on stubbornly entering Mariejois. Once the World Government sent their strongmen, escaping would be almost impossible.
Evan sped through the slave cages, with flames spreading everywhere. The scorching air slightly burned his skin, but ordinary fire couldn’t harm him. After advancing to the second layer of the Diamond Body, he had some immunity to natural damage.
Evan almost brushed against the flames as he moved deeper into Mariejois.
“There he is!”
Bang bang bang!
Gunshots rang out. The guards chasing the slaves had spotted him and decisively pulled the trigger.
Evan pressed forward, maintaining his circular space. Bullets fell sparsely on him as he moved swiftly, and those that did hit were deflected by his repulsive force.
“ROOM!”
He expanded the circular space to encompass the guards, and their bodies were flung away like the bullets before, with some unlucky ones falling into the flames.
“Be careful, he’s a Devil Fruit user!”
“Use Seastone weapons!”
The well-trained and equipped guards quickly switched to Seastone nets, reinforcing their attack.
Evan frowned, teleporting to avoid the Seastone nets aimed at him. He stood on a building, waved his hand, and a discarded sword from the ground landed in his grip.
“I planned to just delay you, but it seems I have to use lethal force,” Evan said coldly, the sword in his hand reflecting a metallic gleam in the firelight.
He charged at the guards, and the Seastone nets were knocked away by the erupting black sword aura. The sharp sword aura cut through the air, cold and black like a grim reaper’s scythe.
In an instant, the guards were decapitated, their heads rolling and warm, crimson blood spurting out, creating an almost eerie beauty in the flickering firelight.
Evan did not stop, carving a bloody path into the residential area of Mariejois.
The buildings in the residential area were even more magnificent, leaning towards Western-style houses with red tiles and pink walls. Each one was grand and majestic like a Western cathedral, but with extravagant lighting and colorful stained glass.
“Hmm? Not here?”
Entering the residential area, Evan frowned, not sensing the unique spatial imprint. He teleported deeper into Mariejois.
Inside one of the luxurious houses in the Celestial Dragon residential area of Mariejois.
On a double bed made of exquisite silk and embedded with jewels, a Celestial Dragon noble, around thirty years old, pressed down on a young black-haired girl, his fat jiggling as he moved.
The Celestial Dragon’s pale, bloated body, grossly overweight from excessive nutrition, moved frantically under the influence of drugs. His face twisted with a repulsive grin as he repeatedly violated the petite black-haired girl beneath him.
The girl looked about thirteen, her face still childish and streaked with tears. Her hair and clothes were disheveled as she struggled and cried out for mercy.
The more the girl struggled, the more satisfied the Celestial Dragon became.
Instinctively, he tightened his grip on the girl’s throat, causing her face to turn a bluish tint as her breath became labored.
When he finally stopped and left the bed, the girl lay there, blood-stained and lifeless, her gray eyes staring blankly.
The Celestial Dragon looked at her with disdain and muttered, “Such a useless slave! Can’t even endure this. But the young ones are more enjoyable. Looks like I’ll need to buy a few more playthings.”
As he turned to find his clothes, he saw a young man in a white robe with a long sword, standing silently behind him.
Evan’s sword dripped with fresh blood, staining the luxurious carpet.
His expression was icy, and his gaze was sharp enough to freeze. His grip on the sword tightened, the sound of cracking steel echoing as if he might crush the hilt.
“Who are you?! Don’t you know this is my home? Guards! Someone help!” the Celestial Dragon shouted, quickly regaining his arrogance. He puffed out his chest and sneered, “Kneel and lick my toes, and I might let you die quickly.”
Years of being a World Noble, feared and revered by all, had erased any semblance of humanity and fear from his nature.
Evan’s expression remained unchanged. He didn’t speak, simply raised his sword and severed the noble’s left arm with a swift strike.
The arm fell to the carpet, and blood splattered, accompanied by the Celestial Dragon’s pig-like squeals.
“Ahhhhh!!!!”
He clutched his wound, writhing on the ground, his fat body convulsing in pain, tears, and snot mixing on his face in a grotesque display.
“Do you feel pain?” Evan sneered, swinging his sword. Countless tiny, sharp sword energies covered the Celestial Dragon’s body.
Slicing sounds filled the air as flesh was cut into shreds. The noble’s face twisted in agony before he fainted from the pain.
“Trash!” Evan spat, ending the Celestial Dragon’s life with a final thrust to the throat. Blood continued to stain the luxurious carpet.
His gaze fell on the black-haired girl. He sighed, having arrived too late to save her.
Though the girl wasn’t Robin, witnessing such inhuman cruelty fueled Evan’s inner rage.
Killing the Celestial Dragon caused him no hesitation. It was a matter of justice.
Celestial Dragons deserved to die!
No matter their power or the consequences of killing them, they deserved to die!
Evan covered the girl’s body with a blanket and was about to leave when his eyes swept over the opulent room. The Celestial Dragon had an extensive collection—gleaming jewels, intricate artworks, luxurious silks. All valuable items.
No one would refuse wealth, and ‘Akatsuki’ would need funds to rise. Evan waved his hand, and the items vanished as if they had evaporated.
