Evan and U-King sat on the roof of a building in Fish-Man Street, overlooking the layers of buildings in shades of blue, pink, and brown spread out below. The sun’s scorching rays were diffused through the rippling water patterns in the sky, making the colors even more vivid and eye-catching.
Fish-Man Island is a paradise with eternal spring, like a fairy tale dreamland.
“Hey, hey, I really don’t want to leave this place,” U-King said, half lying on the roof and squinting his eyes, echoing his previous sentiment from Impel Down.
“You can choose to stay here,” Evan glanced at him.
“Evan, don’t persuade me. I’ve already decided to stick with you. The environment on Fish-Man Island is great, but it’s too comfortable. I don’t want to waste my youth here,” U-King replied with a grin, as if on the verge of reaching the peak of his life. Luckily, there was no one else around; otherwise, Evan would have been worried about him tarnishing the Akatsuki’s reputation. Even though the organization was just getting started, aiming to be a mere Supernova was rather lacking in ambition.
With Evan’s bounty and strength, if he were a pirate, even as a newcomer, he wouldn’t be content with just the Supernova title.
However, U-King’s words sparked another idea in Evan’s mind. This voyage could be an opportunity to develop the organization under the guise of pirates while still maintaining the original definition of the Akatsuki.
For example, Donquixote Doflamingo, on the surface, is a large pirate crew but controls kingdoms through his family. Should Evan consider a similar path in the future? He needed to ponder it deeply.
However, there were a few principled issues Evan, as a transmigrator, always adhered to—he was not a saint or a hypocrite, but he wanted this world to be better because of his presence, not worse.
Though no one demanded that he make a contribution upon arriving in this world, he could not claim to be part of it while only taking and hating.
“By the way, Evan, you helped name the princess of the Fish-Man Kingdom. Shouldn’t you come up with a more meaningful name?” U-King asked.
“Isn’t ‘White Star’ a good name?” Evan inquired.
“It’s fine, but it’s a bit too casual, just like ‘White Snow.’ I thought ‘White Snow’ was a false name, but now I actually think it’s real,” U-King commented, taking peanuts from his pocket and tossing them into the air, catching them in his mouth.
“U-King, look behind you,” Evan said with a light laugh, hinting playfully.
“Hmm?” U-King was momentarily stunned and instinctively turned around, only to be kicked in the face by a long, powerful leg. He was hurled through the air and landed, rolling far away.
“They say not to talk about ghosts at night and people during the day; now it’s the consequences,” Evan said with a shake of his head, lightly patting the space beside him and addressing the figure behind, “Sit down.”
White Snow obediently sat down, her long, elegant legs poised gracefully. Her white robe draped slightly, maintaining her usual cold demeanor. “Leader, the ship is ready, and all the supplies for the voyage are prepared. The remaining funds are about one billion Berries.”
“Good, thank you for your hard work,” Evan nodded. “With the remaining funds running low, we need to deal with the items we plundered from the Celestial Dragons once we’re out.”
“Have the Boa Sisters been informed? If nothing goes wrong, we will set sail from Fish-Man Island tomorrow.”
“I’ll notify them shortly,” White Snow replied, nodding.
Evan turned to her. White Snow’s profile was stunningly beautiful, her silver hair cascading down like a waterfall. Some strands playfully touched her exposed, snow-white skin at the collarbone. Her immaculate robe covered her well-defined figure, and she seemed even more perfect under the radiant light. Even without direct eye contact, Evan could sense her deep coldness and solitude from the glimmer in her silver eyes.
“White Snow, are you hiding something from me?”
Evan leaned closer, his hand resting on her smooth, silver hair, gently massaging it for sensory enjoyment.
White Snow remained silent, avoiding eye contact with Evan. Her deliberately cold demeanor couldn’t hide the slight tremor of her body, betraying her inner unease.
“Leader…” she started to speak, struggling to suppress her hidden secrets and the most terrifying memories she dreaded facing.
“Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to speak. Even if I did, you could refuse. You’re a member of the Akatsuki, and our positions are equal,” Evan shrugged, his eyes showing a different shade, “But if one day you don’t want to bear that heavy burden anymore, you must tell me.”
“Alright, Leader,” White Snow nodded, quietly relieved. Her glance at Evan now contained a different emotion—soft and warm.
“From now on, don’t always call me ‘Leader.’ You can call me ‘Evan’ like U-King does.”
“Yes, Leader.”
“……”
Several thousand meters away from Fish-Man Island, enormous battleships with embedded membranes continued their descent. The steel hulls emitted a cold, deep-sea-like glow, with ominous gun ports all over, resembling ferocious beasts showing their fangs.
The sea kings in this deep-sea area seemed to sense the formidable presence of these warships and instinctively avoided them.
The four leading figures were all feeling a sense of gravity, as deploying such a powerful force was unprecedented in recent years.
In Sengoku’s words, the reckless Evan had completely crossed the Navy’s bottom line. His demonic actions and three world-shocking events were the fundamental reasons for the Navy’s determination to eliminate him.
“How long until we reach Fish-Man Island?”
Admiral Akainu asked the Navy soldiers from the bow of the ship, looking down into the dark, bottomless sea.
“Estimated one or two hours more, and we’ll arrive!”
“Very well.”
Akainu nodded in satisfaction, slightly lifting his head, and revealing his eyes from under the brim of his hat. His eyes, filled with murderous intent and coldness, sent chills down the spines of the nearby Navy soldiers.
“Demon Evan, I didn’t kill you five years ago, but this time, I’ll make you regret escaping from Impel Down!”
Evan, of course, had no idea that a carefully prepared deadly crisis was rapidly approaching.
