The night fell like a tide, gently covering Fishman Island, while the silver moonlight took its place, casting a subtle and chilling atmosphere of conflict.
Evan and Akainu locked eyes silently, their auras intensifying.
“To think the Marines have sent Marine Hero Garp, Admiral Akainu, and two Vice Admirals,” Jinbe said, shocked, his mouth hanging open. “And it’s Vice Admirals Aokiji and Kizaru. Those two have gained high renown on the seas recently, capturing many formidable pirates since the Pirate Era began. They’re all incredibly dangerous figures in the Marines, and just their names are enough to strike fear into pirates.”
“Hmph, the Marines must be aware of our strength and deliberately sent these people. How could they not be formidable?” Uohwang gritted his teeth, eager to take down a few of them himself, regardless of their rank or reputation.
“Evan is facing Akainu. The other Marines have backed off for now. We should wait and observe, looking for the right moment to strike,” Tiger said, pressing down Uohwang’s head, indicating he should stay hidden. As a former leader of Fishman Street and with years of experience adventuring outside the world, Tiger knew Evan had a reason for keeping them in place.
Snow adjusted her white cloak, not making any hasty moves. Her cold silver eyes shimmered with anticipation as she focused intently on the situation, biting her lip. She thought to herself, I haven’t defeated you yet; don’t die so easily.
Under the watchful eyes of the four, Evan, who hovered in the sky, and Akainu, standing firm on the ground, both began their assault as their respective auras reached their peaks.
Boom!
Akainu stomped down, causing the hard rock beneath him to crack and explode. He leaped high into the air with incredible speed, his right foot rapidly kicking through the air, creating white air circles underneath him. He moved directly toward Evan with no sign of hesitation or restraint.
“ROOM”
Evan expanded his circular space, maintaining it within a hundred meters to keep energy consumption low. Every action of Akainu, from his air kicks to his magma-coated arm and straight-line attacks was clearly perceived by Evan without any oversight.
He pulled back his right arm, veins bulging and muscles tensed. The Conqueror’s Haki covered his blade, Snowfall. The blade gleamed with black light as Evan swiftly prepared to strike.
“Night Flow: Four Nights!”
A black crescent moon erupted from the blade, slicing through the air with a whistling sound and merging into the dark night. The crescent split into two and then four, casting a comprehensive attack downwards towards Akainu, leaving him no place to hide.
But Akainu showed no sign of evasion. He accelerated his air kicks, his magma and momentum surging forward. As the black crescent neared, he raised his magma arm, which expanded to block each attack. Explosive red magma splashed, lighting up the night sky.
During this block, Akainu’s speed did not falter. He closed in on Evan, his magma body glowing red-hot, illuminating Evan’s face.
His fully magma-fied arm swung wildly, shooting a stream of red-hot magma with the force of a volcanic eruption, like a red lightning bolt aiming straight for Evan’s face.
Even before it touched him, Evan felt the intense heat, causing his skin to burn. He leaned back slightly to dodge as the magma shot past him, leaving a fiery streak in the air.
“Ha!”
Evan shouted, his wrist spinning as he slashed at Akainu’s exposed magma arm with Snowfall. The blade moved so fast it left no afterimage, severing half of Akainu’s magma arm, which splattered without blood.
He furrowed his brow, stepping back slightly to distance himself from Akainu’s magma form. Snowfall returned to his hand mid-air, but Akainu’s other magma arm intercepted it before it could strike again.
Snowfall’s blade halted abruptly, forcing Evan to stop.
He realized that it was Akainu’s other arm now fully transformed into magma, reinforced with Haki, gripping Snowfall tightly. The strength was immense, halting Snowfall’s momentum.
Evan attempted to sever Akainu’s gripping hand but was met with an erupting network of magma resembling a giant, with an open mouth trying to engulf him.
Such high-temperature magma was too dangerous to withstand.
In a split second, Evan released Snowfall, vanishing from sight as the lava swiped through empty space.
The next moment, Evan appeared behind Akainu, his right hand pressing against the magma-covered back. But before contact, a powerful repulsive force erupted from his hand.
“ROOM: Shambles!!!”
The immense repulsive force expanded outward from Evan, pushing everything away with pure, limitless rejection.
Akainu’s body stiffened as he was forcefully thrown, his magma form and surrounding lava flung away violently.
Evan waved his hand as Snowfall naturally returned to him mid-air. It spun around and safely landed back in his grasp.
Akainu crashed into a nearby small hill, finally stopping his momentum. The high-temperature magma had melted a dark hole in the rock, with flames flickering within.
“Haki should be able to cut through physical forms. Did that moment earlier turn the solid magma into true magma?”
Evan wondered, noting that he had indeed severed part of the magma arm without leaving any blood, indicating a transformation of the ability.
“Teleportation ability—such a bothersome power.”
Akainu emerged from the cave, having reverted to his human form. He dusted off his Marine coat and glanced at the damage done, finding himself completely unharmed.
He promptly removed his Marine coat, revealing explosive muscles beneath his red shirt.
“Next time, my fists will take your life,” Akainu said calmly, tossing the Marine coat to the ground.
