One Piece Swordsman’s Heart Chapter 49

The Desert Kingdom

Following the Log Pose’s direction, Vir sailed for about four or five days before finally spotting an island.

Upon seeing the island, Vir was struck with an interesting thought. The island before him was yellow, with yellow sand floating in the air. This was the Kingdom of Alabasta, the desert kingdom.

Noticing the sparse number of ships at the port, Vir realized that this island was not very prosperous. The harsh climate was likely the reason.

After docking the ship, Vir and Rabbitski disembarked, stepping onto the sandy island.

Walking into town, Vir was surprised to find it bustling with life and full of desert charm. Most men wore headscarves, and the women were dressed scantily. Rabbitski’s eyes widened at the sight of the scantily clad women.

Vir was taken aback by Rabbitski’s reaction. “You like women? You should be attracted to pretty female rabbits, not women. Maintain your image, Rabbitski.”

Rabbitski, annoyed, clenched its fist and punched Vir in the stomach before turning away, pretending to be angry.

Seeing Rabbitski’s reaction, Vir laughed even harder. “Alright, alright. Don’t be mad. Let’s get you something tasty to eat.” With that, they headed towards the town center on the edge of the desert.

After searching for a while, they found a decent-looking restaurant and entered. Vir fell silent upon seeing the menu handed to him by the waiter.

What was this? Grilled sand crocodile meat, baba cactus salad? Desert fried rice?

With a sense of curiosity, Vir ordered a few dishes. Shortly, the waiter brought the food. Vir and Rabbitski started eating. Honestly, the taste was just average, but it had a unique desert flavor.

After eating, Vir asked around for directions to Alabasta’s capital. He wanted to see what was going on in the country.

He learned From the locals that they needed to cross the desert to reach the capital, which would take about a day on camelback. However, there was another option: renting an F-Crocodile, a fast creature in the desert, second only to the Super Spot-Billed Duck. But renting an F-Crocodile was expensive.

Deciding to rent an F-Crocodile, Vir found a shop and inquired. The shop only had a few F-Crocodiles, each heading to different destinations. Renting an F-Crocodile didn’t require a guide since they acted as guides themselves. They would travel from one rental point to another.

Vir paid the rental fee, which was high for most people but not much for him. Whenever Vir needed money, he would rob pirates. Yes, he would rob pirates; it was his primary source of income. If he encountered uncooperative pirates, he would collect their bounties as well.

Unfortunately, Vir couldn’t claim bounties anymore since his head was now worth 170 million Berries.

Riding on an F-Crocodile was quite enjoyable. It had a reclining chair and refreshing drinks, and despite its speed, the ride was smooth.

Vir recalled his initial thought upon seeing Alabasta: to kill Crocodile and take his place as a Warlord of the Sea.

Why? He couldn’t quite explain, maybe because it seemed interesting. Besides, the title of Warlord of the Sea sounded cool to him.

By noon, Vir arrived in Alabasta’s capital, Alubarna.

Upon reaching Alubarna, Vir felt disappointed. Was this really a capital city?

Despite the towering buildings, the capital couldn’t hide its dilapidation.

The Nefertari family chose to stay in this desert instead of moving to the Holy Land, Mariejois. What a foolish decision, thought Vir.

The One Piece world had so many islands, why choose this desert? The notion of guarding Pluton made Vir chuckle.

After wandering around the capital, Vir pondered where to find Crocodile. Should he go to the palace or Rainbase?

Not wanting to travel further after just arriving, Vir decided to visit the palace.

Finding the palace was easy as it was the tallest building around.

At the palace, Vir ignored the guards and walked straight in.

When the guards tried to stop him, Vir drew his sword, and after a few slashes, the ground was littered with bodies.

Vir had often wondered why he became so violent in the One Piece world, despite being a law-abiding citizen in his previous life.

He realized on Tutu Island that he had been bound by many constraints in his past life—morality, law, right and wrong. But in the pirate world, all those constraints disappeared. Vir didn’t know how other transmigrators felt, but he felt liberated, as if something inside him was about to break free. It was when he first took on an assassination mission that he understood—the demon in his heart was breaking free.

Seeing the fallen guards, Vir felt no sympathy. They bore the emblem of Baroque Works.

Vir continued into the palace, killing any guard with the Baroque Works emblem. His sword, Blood Will, greedily drank their blood. As for the regular palace guards, Vir knocked them unconscious. Though incompetent, they were innocent.

As he walked and killed, Vir realized he was cutting down more and more people. He felt Nefertari Cobra was useless for allowing Crocodile to plant so many men in his palace. Cobra deserved to be controlled.

Or maybe Nefertari Cobra was already under control, which explained the numerous Baroque Works agents?

In Vir’s eyes, both Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta and King Riku of Dressrosa were useless.

They pushed their incompetence onto the strength of their enemies.

They controlled the resources of a country yet failed to use them to protect their nation. They always preached about loving and caring for their people.

In this chaotic era, lacking strength meant lacking security. If you can’t protect your citizens, how can you talk about peace and prosperity? It was laughable.

As he pondered these thoughts and killed more enemies, Vir noticed he had wiped out all the Baroque Works guards. The organization was now sending assassins and pirates.

This didn’t stop Vir; instead, he became more ruthless.

Vir suddenly felt as if he was single-handedly taking down the Alabasta palace.
