With no other options, Vir had to dock his ship where he was and use other people’s ships as stepping stones to slowly approach the island.
Just as he was about to grab Bepo and jump toward the island, Bepo pushed Vir’s hand away with a look of disdain.
In Vir’s envious gaze, Bepo used his fur to weave a pair of wings and then hardened the fur.
After a few adjustments, Bepo took off and flew toward the island with considerable skill, indicating that he had developed this ability for some time.
Looking at Bepo in the air with a contemptuous look, Vir ground his teeth in frustration.
Vir could only shout sourly into the sky, “So what if you can fly? I’ll learn Moonwalk someday, and then I’ll fly too.”
With that, Vir had no choice but to slowly move toward the island, hopping like a grasshopper from ship to ship.
Bepo flashed his big teeth in a grin and leisurely flew toward the island.
Only Bepo dared to tease Vir like this. If it were anyone else, the weak would end up like Crocodile, and the strong would find Vir fighting them to the death.
When Vir finally reached the island, his initial confusion remained unresolved, and an even stranger scene unfolded before him.
Several groups of people were facing off, seemingly on the brink of a battle, while many onlookers, like Vir, watched from the sidelines.
Two groups had the most people, with others aligning with them.
One group was clearly identifiable, neatly dressed and orderly—these were the Marines.
The other group, with their arrogant demeanor and diverse clothing, were likely pirates.
At this moment, an officer-like figure from the Marine side spoke up.
“Charlotte Lounie, you’ve already gotten one piece. Don’t be too greedy. Do you really want to go against the World Government?”
The officer’s voice was loud, and he was a tall man wearing metal gauntlets that extended to his forearms, with blood-red pants and a bare chest. The most striking feature was his golden mustache, matching his golden hair, giving him a fierce and domineering appearance.
This officer was surprisingly from the World Government, not the Marines, as Vir had guessed.
The woman addressed as Charlotte Lounie was quite unique.
She stood out because, unlike most women, her beauty had a special quality.
Charlotte Lounie had short hair that barely covered her ears and neck, similar in length to Vir’s but slightly longer.
Her petite frame made her look somewhat frail. She had fair skin and delicate features, but her beauty was androgynous.
Her clothing was also androgynous, but one feature didn’t quite fit: her chest.
Charlotte Lounie’s chest wasn’t particularly large, but not small either. It created a sense of dissonance, as if this woman shouldn’t naturally have a noticeable chest.
Charlotte Lounie looked at the officer and laughed disdainfully.
“Skill determines success. Who told you it should be split evenly? I’m a pirate. If you don’t like it, fight. Why all the talk?” Her clear voice showed she wasn’t afraid of the World Government.
Vir found today’s events even more intriguing. Although he didn’t know what they were fighting over, it had to be something valuable, given that one side was the World Government and the other was likely from the Big Mom Pirates.
As Vir planned to continue observing, a group of pirates approached him.
“Kid, state your name or bounty. I’m Perkin from the New World. If you don’t support us, leave. This isn’t a place for rookies,” Perkin said arrogantly, likely looking down on those from the first half of the Grand Line.
To be honest, it was the first time Vir encountered such an arrogant pirate, and he was shocked by the man’s stupidity. It seemed pirates from the New World really looked down on those from the first half of the Grand Line.
Although Vir was sailing in the first half of the Grand Line, he wasn’t a pirate and felt confident in his strength. He responded to Perkin with a single word.
“Get lost.” With that, Vir ignored Perkin, intending to continue watching the show. If Perkin dared to be more arrogant, he’d kill him.
Perkin was stunned for a moment, not expecting this guy to speak to him like that. Anger surged through him.
Possibly due to his smooth sailing thus far, Perkin drew the mace from his back and swung it at Vir, intending to kill him.
Seeing Perkin’s foolishness, Vir slightly unsheathed “Intent Blood,” sending a pale blue slash straight at Perkin’s face.
Before Perkin could react, Vir’s slash split his head open, spraying brains behind him.
As Vir’s sword emerged, Charlotte Lounie and the World Government officer both turned their heads, sensing the presence of a swordsman.
When Perkin fell, all eyes focused on Vir.
Although the two sides were facing off, they had controlled the situation to avoid casualties. Their goal wasn’t to annihilate each other but to secure more benefits for their respective forces.
Thus, Perkin was the first casualty.
As everyone stared at Vir, Bepo arrived.
Bepo hadn’t flown straight to the island but had scouted from above.
Seeing himself become the center of attention, Vir felt annoyed. He had hoped to watch the fight between the Big Mom Pirates and the World Government, but now all eyes were on him.
“Hey, why are you all looking at me? I’m just a passing adventurer. Carry on as if I’m not here,” Vir tried to shift their focus back to each other so he could enjoy the upcoming battle.
Both sides remained silent, neither engaging him nor driving him away, continuing their standoff.
It seemed both sides were smart, realizing it would be difficult to recruit this powerful swordsman who killed without hesitation.
But driving him away wasn’t an option either, as his strength was unknown but clearly formidable.
So, they resumed their standoff.
Vir grabbed a nearby pirate.
The pirate looked annoyed initially but tensed up upon seeing Vir, asking what he wanted.
“What’s happening on this island?” Vir inquired.
The pirate looked at Vir curiously.
“You don’t know the secret here? Then how did you get here?” The pirate seemed curious about Vir’s purpose.
When Vir explained that he had navigated here based on the Log Pose’s direction, the pirate looked at him in awe and then explained everything that had happened.
