In the tavern of Bay Town, the principal officers of the Krieg Pirates were gathered.
Admiral Krieg sat grandly in the center, his light purple hair tied with a headband, laughing heartily with a few beauties in his arms.
His prized golden armor was placed nearby, guarded strictly by two subordinates. Anyone daring to approach would be met with sharp blades.
In a corner of the tavern, a male reincarnator was drinking alone, trying to suppress the killing intent boiling within him.
The woman in Krieg’s arms was his teammate. The man hadn’t even made his move yet, but a plot character had already tasted the forbidden fruit.
It wasn’t love that stirred his jealousy but his possessive nature. He couldn’t win in a fight, so drinking seemed the only solution.
“I hope a strong opponent comes to kill you,” he thought bitterly, watching his teammate smile joyfully.
Beer after beer, he drank until late into the night. Despite his incredible constitution, he eventually had to relieve himself of the liquid.
“Hey, the boss wants you outside. I’ll cover for you,” one pirate told another.
“Alright, thanks,” the pirate replied.
Ignoring the two pirates changing shifts, the male reincarnator stumbled to the bar, contemplating his next move.
With the Krieg Pirates as his backing, no one dared cause trouble. A few raids on merchant ships had skyrocketed his bounty to over a million.
He and his teammate were essentially coasting through the mission, a stark contrast to the struggles of the Black Cat Pirates.
With only two days left before the mission deadline, the man relished his days of drunken revelry.
“This is the benefit of having excellent foresight,” he thought proudly, seeing himself as fundamentally different from those who only knew how to fight.
To survive well in reincarnation, mere “effort” wasn’t enough. One had to leverage the help of local forces.
Learning to use others was the mark of a brilliant person.
“Hey, no need to stand guard. They’re calling you for a drink. I’ll cover here,” he said to another pirate.
“Thanks, I owe you,” the pirate replied.
The familiar words made the reincarnator turn his head, watching the pirate head outside.
He suddenly realized the once lively tavern was nearly empty. Even the guards for the weapons and armor had disappeared.
Krieg, despite his strength, was notoriously fearful of death, always surrounded by a large entourage.
The current lack of pirates was highly unusual.
“Something’s wrong,” the man sobered up instantly, replaying the scenes in his mind.
From the moment jealousy took root, people had been lured out under various pretexts.
Most didn’t return, and those who did were there to coax more pirates away.
Taking out a small wand, the man looked toward the tavern door.
After a brief consideration, he abandoned the idea of exploring alone. As a mental specialist, he knew his limits. An ambush could kill him instantly.
Creeping, he went to the second floor, stopping outside the admiral’s room.
Listening to the high-pitched moans inside, his eyes narrowed, and he tapped out a rhythmic knock.
Despite his jealousy, survival took precedence, making minor grievances insignificant.
With his signal, the female reincarnator quickly dressed and appeared outside.
“What’s happening?” she asked calmly.
Covering his mouth and nose, he whispered, “We have enemies.”
Before he could say more, a prominent figure roared through the glass as he charged upstairs.
“Krieg, your time is up!” Bujji bellowed.
Desperate to prove his worth, Bujji had to secure his place in the Black Cat Pirates.
He wouldn’t have dared challenge Krieg when he wore the invincible golden armor, but the current situation was different.
Without that unbeatable defense, Krieg was just flesh and blood. Bujji’s steel claws could tear him apart.
Seeing the charging figure, the reincarnators didn’t react.
“They’re dumber than I thought.”
“Yeah, I was worried for nothing.”
Just as Bujji reached them, a golden battle spear smashed through the door, striking him like a baseball bat.
The sound of bones breaking filled the air as Bujji’s body twisted into an inverted V, his head touching his rear for the first time.
A single strike killed him instantly.
An elite pirate was no match for the enraged admiral.
Smashing through the wooden door, Krieg wielded his golden battle spear, his gaze as fierce as a beast’s.
The massive weapon, over a ton in weight, swung quickly in his hands, intimidating even the reincarnators.
“This guy’s strength must be at least 30 points.”
The island became chaotic as pirates appeared from nowhere, launching an attack.
“It’s the Black Cat Pirates,” Krieg snarled, slamming the spear into the ground, making the tavern tremble.
Turning to the woman who had just been serving him, his gaze turned cold. “Go check the situation and retrieve my golden armor and other weapons.”
Hearing the prompt in their minds, the reincarnators glanced at each other and gathered a group of pirates to leave the tavern.
No matter the enemy, they couldn’t fight the Krieg Pirates head-on. With a crew of 5,000, even standing still, killing them would take all night.
Victory required a decapitation strike, killing Krieg before his main force could react.
Understanding this, the reincarnators left, planning to observe from the shadows.
If the enemy were too strong, they would flee. Bounties wouldn’t drop after all.
If the enemy were weak, they would join the fight, grabbing any benefits they could.
A good plan, fitting the cold nature of reincarnators, but they made a fatal mistake.
They underestimated the enemy’s greed.
As a figure in a yellow straw hat blocked their path, the man’s heart sank, realizing the enemy wouldn’t let them escape.
“Finish this quickly.”
“Agreed.”
As the man waved his wand, terrifying lightning gathered around them.
Giving the enemy no time to react, he swung with force, unleashing a water-king level magic “Lightning” from Mushoku Tensei straight at Ubume.
Panting, he expected success but was shocked by the sight.
A ghostly figure with a long red tongue endured the lightning, seeming to enjoy it.
“Heh, looks like your luck is bad,” a soft laugh sounded as the onmyoji woman approached. “Aka Tōngue’s thunder drum absorbs lightning. Your magic is useless.”
Ubume and Aka Tōngue appeared, followed by swordsman Paul and modified human Jack, waiting for the escaping reincarnators.
Fang Bo, indeed greedy, had no intention of letting the easy prey go.
Escape or trickery, it didn’t matter. Killing them was foolproof.
The hypnosis plan worked surprisingly well, stealing several critical pieces of Krieg’s equipment.
Without invincible defenses, Kuro alone was a formidable threat, let alone Fang Bo lurking nearby.
The rest were struggling against the onslaught of thousands of pirates on the ship.
The overwhelming numbers made it challenging, but Kuro’s foresight allowed them to hold out.
If they had clashed head-on, the Black Cat Pirates would have been doomed by sheer numbers, Krieg’s most significant advantage.
Reiju engaged the reincarnators. Her strength and two elite pirates should be enough to take them down.
Captain Kuro threw away his sheath inside the tavern, his sharp eyes fixed on Admiral Krieg.
“Surprised to see me back?”
“Hmph,” Krieg sneered, looking at them like ants. “You think you two can defeat me?”
As he spoke, two figures appeared beside Krieg.
On the left was a scruffy man with a gray-blue striped headscarf, looking more like a street thug than a fleet combat leader.
This was Gin, the “Man-Demon,” a ruthless and powerful fighter.
To the right stood a heavily armored figure, the “Iron Wall” Pearl, Krieg’s third in command.
With these two, Krieg feared no threat from the Black Cat Pirates.
Their main force needed just ten minutes to break through. After that, they could deal with them however they pleased.
“Arrogant fool,” Alvida kicked the door open, her mace pointed at Gin.
The heavily armored figure looked tough, so she chose the weaker target.
Was this the right choice?
BANG!
With the gunfire, the battle for supremacy in the East Blue began.
