Tang An decided not to leave but to stay in the forest of giant trees. His primary goal was to become proficient with his Titan powers quickly. Additionally, he planned to lie in wait.
According to the upcoming plot, Armin first discovers that Annie is the Female Titan, leading Erwin and the others to capture her. Eventually, Eren and Annie battle, and Annie encases herself in hardened material.
However, since Tang An had already taken Annie’s Titan power, what would happen next was unpredictable. The Survey Corps had suffered significant losses, and Erwin and others would be put on trial. Initially, capturing Annie allowed them to avoid punishment, but now their fate was uncertain.
Next would come the events of the second season, where the Beast Titan appears, commanding mindless Titans to attack Connie, Reiner, Christa, Ymir, and others at Utgard Castle. Ymir would transform into the Jaw Titan to hold off the mindless Titans, with Eren and others coming to the rescue. On the wall, Reiner and Bertholdt would reveal their identities and kidnap Eren, eventually leading to another clash in the forest of giant trees. Erwin would lead the Survey Corps to rescue Eren again, and during the fight, Eren would awaken the Founding Titan’s coordinate power.
Thus, Tang An only needed to wait in the forest for a while. When Reiner and Bertholdt brought the heavily injured Eren and Ymir, he could take action and devour these four, gaining the powers of the Colossal Titan, Armored Titan, Jaw Titan, Attack Titan, and Founding Titan.
Finally, he planned to head to Marley to seize the War Hammer Titan, Beast Titan, and Cart Titan. It seemed that the Cart Titan might accompany the Beast Titan’s appearance.
Who knew what surprises awaited with the power of all nine Titans?
That was Tang An’s plan.
As for how to spend the intervening time, it was simple. Mindless Titans showed no interest in anything other than humans, so the forest was full of wild animals. There was no shortage of food, and Tang An could use this time to master the Female Titan’s powers.
Meanwhile, within Wall Rose, Erwin’s group had returned, their heavy losses provoking the dissatisfaction of Wall Sina’s politicians. Erwin wasn’t concerned, though, as Armin’s suspicion that Annie was the Female Titan led to a series of plans that were doomed to fail.
The next day, Armin was informed by Annie’s roommate that she hadn’t returned for a day and a night. Eren and Mikasa exchanged glances.
They had planned to lure Annie underground, but she wasn’t even around, causing the plan to collapse before it began.
“How could she be missing? Where did we go wrong?” Armin wondered on their way back.
“If we don’t capture the Female Titan, Commander Erwin will face those politicians’ wrath,” Mikasa added, frowning.
“Damn it,” Eren cursed, feeling both angry and relieved. Subconsciously, he didn’t want to believe Annie was the Female Titan.
At the Survey Corps’ ambush site, Armin informed everyone of Annie’s absence, and silence fell over the group.
“The Commander has been taken by the Military Police,” someone said.
“What do we do now?”
“All we can do is wait,” Hange said, adjusting her glasses. The Survey Corps would face challenging times ahead. Disbanding them was unlikely, but funding and authority could be cut.
The next day, Erwin returned. Though he said nothing, Levi shared some information. Erwin had signed a military order pledging to retake Wall Maria within three months. Failure would mean imprisonment for him and consequences for the Survey Corps.
Simultaneously, the previous night, the Beast Titan appeared at Utgard Castle, commanding mindless Titans to attack Connie, Reiner, Christa, and others.
Everyone was trapped on the highest part of the castle, with mindless Titans surrounding them below—at least thirty of them.
“What do we do? What do we do?” Connie panicked, clutching his head. It was nighttime, and the Titans shouldn’t be active.
Several elite Garrison soldiers were also terrified, as mindless Titans were active at night.
“Look at that Titan,” someone pointed. By moonlight, they saw a tall Titan covered in fur, its arms nearly reaching its knees, standing over 17 meters tall, resembling a giant ape.
It was walking towards the wall.
“Is that an Abnormal Titan?”
“It’s heading for the wall.”
Unlike the others’ expressions, Reiner and Bertholdt exchanged glances, both surprised. They hadn’t expected to see the Beast Titan here.
“Damn it, what now? We’re out of gas for our ODM gear,” Connie lamented as the mindless Titans began to climb.
Only the three Garrison soldiers had gas left.
“The castle can’t hold much longer,” Christa said, panic in her voice.
“Connie, where’s that knife you had?” Ymir asked, eyeing the unstable castle.
“What do you need it for?”
Connie handed over his small knife, about ten centimeters long.
“To kill the enemy,” Ymir said, smiling.
“Huh?” Everyone was confused.
“Christa, my purpose in living is to protect you,” Ymir declared.
“What are you talking about, Ymir?” Christa was puzzled.
“I will protect you,” Ymir said, smiling one last time before jumping off the castle. She slashed her hand, transforming into a seven-meter-tall Titan with long arms, short legs, and sharp teeth.
“Ymir…” Connie stared in disbelief as Ymir’s Titan form tore into the mindless Titans.
“How is this possible? Ymir transformed into a Titan,” Christa echoed in disbelief.
Reiner and Bertholdt’s faces turned grim, a dark look passing between them.
“She’s protecting us,” Christa said, watching the Titan.
“There are too many Titans,” Connie despaired, even though Ymir had transformed. The number of mindless Titans was overwhelming, and the Beast Titan on the wall appeared intelligent.
Wait, where did the Beast Titan go?
Connie looked at the wall, realizing the Beast Titan had vanished. The sky was beginning to lighten, but their spirits were still low.
Ymir’s Titan form was struggling to hold on. They were going to die here.
“If you want to live, grab my hair,” Ymir said, climbing up the castle.
“Ymir, you…”
Ymir is speaking shocked Connie.
“Don’t waste time. Grab my hair.”
As everyone clung to Ymir’s hair, she began to tear down the castle, using the rubble to crush the mindless Titans below.
Dust filled the air, shrouding the entire area.
