As the Goa Kingdom grew smaller in the distance, Tang An leaned against the ship’s railing, holding a 92-style pistol and occasionally warning the helmsman, Rafael.
From Tang An’s observations over the past two or three days, Rafael was a timid and fearful person. Though not as physically imposing as some, Rafael was still stronger than Tang An’s slender 1.69-meter frame. Despite knowing Rafael’s cowardly nature, Tang An remained vigilant, not underestimating anyone, especially in this twisted world.
Finally, Tang An had some time to check his so-called “Trash Goldfinger.” A new line of text appeared on the interface:
“Successfully killed an important supporting character in the One Piece world, Portgas D. Ace. Awarded three dice rolls, Luck +1.”
“Hmm?”
Tang An frowned as he read the text. He read it a few more times, confirming that it only mentioned killing Ace, and his face darkened.
“What about Monkey D. Luffy? Did he not die? Or is this Trash Goldfinger hiding the information?”
Tang An was sure he had stabbed both Ace and Luffy in the heart. Could it be that Luffy’s more minor, undeveloped heart had caused him to miss? Or was it due to Luffy’s rubber body?
“Damn it.”
Tang An’s face soured. Going back to finish the job now would be suicidal. He missed an opportunity that was practically in his grasp. This served as a lesson for Tang An: next time, stab more than once to be sure.
“The rewards are situational. Ace was an important supporting character, so why only three dice rolls? What’s the basis for this calculation? And what does ‘situational’ even mean?”
Tang An’s questioning received no response. This implied that the Trash Goldfinger could be manipulating things behind the scenes without his knowledge.
That damn thing.
Feeling his mood plummet, Tang An began rolling the dice. The fist-sized die bounced up and down before finally stopping at his mental command. It showed two dots.
The model airplane took off and landed on the second square.
“Do you want to use the Luck value?”
A new line of text appeared on the interface.
“Hmm?”
Could this Luck +1 be a one-time consumable? It could only be used once?
“No.”
Suppressing his worsening mood, Tang An decided not to use it. He felt that two wasn’t a lucky number. It was just a hunch.
The familiar glow filled the screen, and when it faded, a new item appeared.
Tang An was excited.
“Basic Military Combat Skills. Do you want to learn?”
A book floated on the blank square, titled “Basic Military Combat Skills.”
“A skill-based item?”
It seemed this Trash Goldfinger wasn’t as simple as it appeared. It could produce all sorts of random things.
“Learn.”
Tang An’s body suddenly convulsed as if having a seizure. After a final shudder, information about military combat techniques and skills appeared in his mind. It was a combat system designed specifically for killing, targeting vulnerable areas like the eyes, throat, and groin to incapacitate or kill an enemy swiftly. It also included methods for physical training.
This was precisely what Tang An needed right now.
“Finally, something useful.”
Tang An felt a surge of excitement and couldn’t help but glance at Rafael. He now had over ten ways to make Rafael suffer immensely. However, the term “Basic” implied there were likely intermediate and advanced levels.
Moreover, this skill wasn’t immediately mastered. Tang An only gained knowledge and techniques, but he needed to practice diligently to use them effectively.
His initial excitement cooled off quickly.
It was like getting a martial arts manual that required diligent practice rather than instantly becoming a master.
Damn.
That damn thing.
“Roll the dice.”
Suppressing his frustration, Tang An started his second roll.
This time, the die showed six dots.
Wait, six might be a lucky number, but he remembered last time it resulted in the unwanted “Sexy Dealer On-Line Dealing” scenario.
Tang An’s lips twitched, and he felt his anxiety rising.
“Do you want to use the Luck value?”
The option appeared again.
Tang An hesitated for a moment and then chose to use it.
“Random World Travel +1. Do you want to travel?”
“Description: You can travel to other worlds at any time. Use cautiously.”
Tang An wasn’t as thrilled as he thought he’d be. Instead, he frowned, deep in thought.
The words “world travel” suggested he had hit the jackpot by accident.
But he didn’t want to travel now. The One Piece world had many things he desired, like Devil Fruits, Haki, and various other targets.
This world also offered potential cures for his cancer.
The description warranted careful analysis. The Trash Goldfinger even advised caution. Random travel could mean ending up in a world filled with demons and monsters or in a mundane world.
Whether it was the former, where he’d have no means of self-defense, or the latter, with limited opportunities to grow stronger, neither was appealing.
In this life, he aimed to control his destiny and avoid the misery of his previous life.
Staying in the One Piece world was undoubtedly the best option, given the myriad ways to grow stronger.
Still, pulling a world travel option demonstrated that this Trash Goldfinger had some serious potential. The Luck value had proven its worth.
Unfortunately, it was a one-time consumable.
“One more roll.”
Tang An placed the random travel option aside and started his final roll.
The die showed three dots. The model airplane buzzed forward.
The familiar glow filled the screen again.
“Tokyo Hot Movie, One Episode. Do you want to watch?”
Tang An took a deep breath. Despite being prepared, his emotions were complex, quickly shifting to anger.
A censored movie?
Even if it were uncensored, he’d still be furious.
Worse yet, he’d sold off the 60ml.
Too much.
Closing the interface, Tang An sat cross-legged on the deck, trying to calm himself.
After about three minutes, he walked into the cabin.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Goa Kingdom, behind Mt. Colubo, a ship with a dragon figurehead was docked.
“Dragon, he’s out of danger now. Where did you find this child?”
Inside the cabin, Ivankov stood out as a bizarre figure, with an enormous purple afro, blue eyeshadow, purple lipstick, fishnet stockings, a cape, and a tight, low-cut bodysuit.
“He is Monkey D. Luffy, my son.”
Dragon’s eyes were intense as he looked at the sleeping Luffy. If the knife had been just a little off, Luffy would have been dead by the time he arrived. Not even Ivankov’s healing hormones or Kuma’s pain-removing paw could have saved him.
“What?”
“Dragon’s son?”
Many in the cabin were shocked.
“Now that you mention it, he does resemble you.”
Ivankov stroked his broad chin.
“And who is this child?”
A few people looked at the other bed, where another child lay, already dead.
Dragon said nothing, deep in thought.
