West Blue, Kingdom of Ettefia.
In an opulent hall, a slightly plump middle-aged man sat at the head of the table. Beside him, a short man in a pinstriped suit reported the situation.
“Godfather, recently, a derelict passenger ship was found near the Kingdom of Kaya. Everyone on board had been killed by pirates.”
“Strangely, those pirates also died on the ship, each with a smile on their face. The local fishermen believe it was attacked by a ghost ship.”
“Ghost ship?” The middle-aged man sneered disdainfully. “Only fools believe in such things!”
“Based on my analysis, it was likely Rougishu who killed those pirates. Rumor has it in the Grand Line that he possesses the power to summon hellish spirits, making his enemies die in despair and agony or pass away peacefully, without even realizing they’re dead.”
“He’s reached West Blue so quickly? That guy is really eager to take my life!” The middle-aged man snorted, clearly trusting his subordinate’s capabilities.
“Godfather, I have arranged everything as you instructed. Once Rougishu enters our territory, he’ll be met with a continuous barrage of firepower. Even if he’s made of steel, he will be turned into a pile of scrap metal!”
“Very good, Capone. Do you see now? This is the power of influence. No matter how strong he is, he’s just one person. How could he possibly fight against my thousands of men? He wants my life? He should see if he has the ability first!”
“The difference in strength is too great. He’s dead for sure!” The short man, Capone Bege, said indifferently. “However, our only way to identify Rougishu is by his ghost mask. If he takes it off and infiltrates, then…”
“Someone as arrogant as Rougishu wouldn’t stoop to disguise himself,” the middle-aged man said, then hesitated. But you’re right. It would be foolish to leave our hopes in the enemy’s hands. Fortunately, I have a backup plan. They should be arriving soon.”
“They?” Capone Bege asked, puzzled. “Godfather, who do you mean by ‘they’?”
“Who else? The Happo Navy from the Land of Flowers. It’s a pity their leader, Chinjao, has retired. Otherwise, a pirate with a bounty exceeding five hundred million berries would truly be a monster from hell!”
“But it doesn’t matter. Chinjao’s son, the future 13th leader of the Happo Navy, Hachiawase, has agreed to help us.”
(Because Oda hasn’t revealed the name of Chinjao’s son, we’ve chosen Hachiawase, combining Chinjao and the Land of Flowers. Feel free to make any comments or criticisms. ( -)?)
“His strength is already formidable. Even if he can’t win, he has Chinjao backing him. Does Rougishu dare to risk a feud with such a great pirate?”
“The Happo Navy from the Land of Flowers? Indeed, a powerful ally.”
“I had hoped to use Rougishu to kill this old guy so I could take over his forces. Unfortunately, while he may have lost the ferocity of a pirate, he’s still as cautious as ever.”
Capone Bege deactivated the alert status inside his body fortress. “Since Rougishu is doomed, there’s no need to leave a path open for him. I’ll just enjoy the show.”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Thunderous explosions rocked the ground, causing cracks to form beneath Bege and the Godfather, Buffet.
“Huh? What’s going on? Has Rougishu already attacked?” Buffet asked, slightly panicked as he steadied himself.
Seeing Buffet’s terrified expression, Bege felt disdain. This guy lost his nerve long ago, even though he was once a pirate with a bounty exceeding a hundred million berries. “The Mafia is just child’s play. Only pirates and the sea are a man’s true calling!”
“Godfather, this should be our first line of defense. I buried several tons of explosives on his route. When he thinks he’s faced all our firepower, those explosives will turn him to dust!”
Bege’s tone was cold, clearly indicating his plan to sacrifice the Mafia members stationed there. But Buffet was overjoyed. “Haha! Bege, you didn’t disappoint me. With so many explosives, that bastard will be blown to pieces. I can finally sleep soundly!”
“Who would have thought it would be this easy? As the Godfather said, Rougishu is just an arrogant beast.”
Brubru, brubru~~~
Capone Bege frowned as he took out the Den Den Mushi, which showed the caller’s panicked face.
“Second-in-command, they’re dead! Everyone’s dead!”
Capone Bege was about to retort that he wasn’t dead but held back. “Is Rougishu dead too?”
“No, he’s still alive!” The voice trembled.
“What? A kilometer-wide explosion, lasting half a minute, and he survived? Did you idiots trigger the explosives too early?” Capone Bege’s tone turned harsh.
“No, we watched him walk right into it, sacrificing over a thousand men to lure him in!”
“But… everyone is dead. He survived. That man is a monster!” The voice sounded lifeless, then suddenly screamed, “We’re all going to die! Opposing a devil from hell means death for all of us!”
Crack!
Capone Bege crushed the Den Den Mushi in his hand, disgusted by the oozing fluids.
“You’re kidding, right? Thousands of men, enough explosives to destroy a street, and he survived? Is he really human?” Buffet was pale, obviously shaken by the call.
“Godfather, that guy went mad. We shouldn’t believe a madman’s words.” Though he despised him, Capone Bege maintained a respectful demeanour.
“You’re right, he went mad!” Buffet repeated to reassure himself, then looked hopefully at Capone. “Bege, there’s a second line of defense, right?”
“Of course. I bought poison gas bombs from the black market. Just one breath, and even a large Sea King would die!”
“Haha! You are reliable, Bege. No wonder…” Buffet’s laughter stopped abruptly as he saw the shadow of death standing at the door.
“What a joke! The defenses I carefully set up didn’t even last three minutes. Did he just stroll through them?” Seeing Rougishu’s blood-red eyes, Capone Bege’s heart raced, and sweat beaded on his forehead.
“Bege, quickly… activate your third line of defense!”
“Yes, it’s time to activate the third line.” Capone Bege coldly stepped back and pressed a remote. A steel barrier dropped, separating him from Buffet.
“What… what is this?”
“My dear Godfather, don’t you understand? The third line of defense… is you!”
Buffet gripped the bars, looking at Capone Bege, who seemed so close yet so far, and then at Rougishu approaching from behind. He couldn’t help but shed tears of regret!
