The Scourge of One Piece Chapter 13

A Bloodbath Triggered by a Gun

The blue hole-patterned mask was the clue that allowed Maude to recognize Killer.

Considering that Kid was also in Mad Hat Town, he became even more certain.

“What is he here for? To buy the gun for Kid? But that gun… it seems to be the flintlock pistol Yasopp bought yesterday.”

Maude discreetly observed Killer, guessing the reason for his visit.

After a customer entered, Sunny quickly put down the auction catalog and adjusted her emotions. By the time she looked up again, her face was expressionless as she looked at the entering Killer.

There was no need for sales service or smiles for a shop like theirs.

Buy if you want, otherwise, get out.

A very straightforward principle.

Killer entered the shop and, noticing that the troublesome old man Kid had mentioned was not present, felt a bit surprised but didn’t care much.

He was here to buy something, and it didn’t matter who served him as long as someone was there.

He quickly walked to the counter, pulled out four stacks of Berries, and placed them on the counter, getting straight to the point: “Four million Berries for Kid’s flintlock.”

“The price for Kid’s flintlock is 3.8 million Berries.”

“Whatever, the extra 200,000 is for you to keep.”

“Oh, but the gun has already been bought by someone else.”

“?”

A question mark slowly appeared on Killer’s forehead.

If it’s sold, why didn’t you say so earlier instead of wasting my time?

He suddenly understood why Kid got so angry with this shop.

Since setting out to sea, they had never encountered such a business before.

But then he thought, it’s a good thing that the gun was bought by someone else; they could always just go and take it by force afterward.

If they want something, they’ll take it. If they dislike someone, they’ll kill them. That’s their principle.

Besides, the four million Berries were just robbed last night.

With that thought, Killer asked, “Who bought the gun?”

Having been in the business for many years, Sunny could easily guess Killer’s motive for asking who bought the gun.

He simply wanted to find the buyer and rob them, as pirates do.

Usually, Sunny would never disclose customer information, which is a bottom line for any seller.

But this time was different because the buyer was Yasopp from the Red Hair Pirates.

She looked at Killer and said calmly, “The gun was sold yesterday afternoon to someone named Yasopp.”

Upon hearing this, Killer grabbed the Berries and turned to leave as if speaking more was a waste of life.

He vaguely felt that he had heard the name Yasopp somewhere before but didn’t think much of it.

The gun was bought yesterday afternoon, so Yasopp was likely still in Mad Hat Town.

Leaving the weapon shop, Killer headed straight to the tavern where Kid was.

The following events were predictable: find the buyer, take the gun, and then leave this place.

Maude walked to the door, peeking out to watch Killer leave with a pitying look.

But then he felt regretful, realizing Shanks and his crew were already far away.

Otherwise, he would have liked to see Kid’s gang trying to rob Yasopp’s flintlock.

After closing the door, Maude turned back to the counter, about to praise Sunny for being cunning, but then he saw her again engrossed in the auction catalog.

She meticulously read a single newspaper for three or four hours, so he wondered how much time this little auction catalog would take.

Maude had some interest in the auction, so he quietly stood behind Sunny to sneak a peek at the list of auction items.

“A famous sword among the top 50 works? Who knows when I’ll learn to use a sword.”

“Hmm? Even fishman slaves, starting at a million Berries… too bad I don’t have money, otherwise, I could buy one to see if the Hunter’s Notebook works on fishmen.”

“Fragrant skunk? Description says… an unprecedented skunk that emits fragrance instead of stench? What a weird thing, and it’s classified as a rare beast…”

“Uh, flipping through, most of the auction items are weapons, including flintlock guns.”

“Well, it makes sense since most potential buyers are pirates. The demand for weapons would naturally be higher, unlike auctions for nobles, which are mainly for slaves.”

“But overall, only the Devil Fruit and the famous sword are the heavyweight auction items.”

“The latter’s value is certainly not comparable to the Devil Fruit, but it’s still a rare find.”

Standing behind Sunny, Maude browsed the auction items, each with varying starting prices, finding it quite eye-opening.

Compared to auctions in the Hunter World that mostly dealt with antiques, auctions in the Pirate World were much more interesting.

Those assorted items easily aroused Maude’s desire to buy.

After looking through the auction items, Maude quietly left the counter and resumed his physical training in a corner of the store.

This type of training wouldn’t significantly boost his strength in a short time, but it was consistent and better than nothing, given the current circumstances.

“It’s past lunchtime, and Thor still isn’t back.”

Maude checked the time.

Maybe Thor was so upset by Shanks yesterday that he’s taking extra time to cool off today.

After all, he needs to vent his frustration.

Suddenly, Maude felt he understood why Thor hadn’t returned yet.

In the noisy tavern, Kid watched as Killer returned empty-handed.

“Didn’t sell to you either?”

Kid’s eyes grew cold, his rising anger turning into a desire for destruction that could erupt at any moment.

This gun had nearly driven him insane.

Killer shook his head and said, “It wasn’t that they wouldn’t sell it; it was bought by someone named Yasopp.”

“Oh? When was it bought?”

Kid’s interest was piqued, a cold smile forming at the corners of his mouth.

He couldn’t provoke Thor, whose strength was unfathomable, but he could certainly deal with the person who bought the gun.

“Yesterday afternoon.”

“Find him.”

Kid stood up abruptly, heading for the door.

Killer left the payment for the drinks and quickly followed Kid.

Mad Hat Town didn’t strictly forbid conflicts among peers, but there was one clear rule that everyone had to follow.

And that was—not to harm the legitimate interests of merchants.

Basically—if you consume in a store, you pay for what you take.

Try to cheat?

Then prepare to die.

The two walked out of the tavern and onto the street.

They say snakes have their paths, and rats have their ways.

To quickly find Yasopp’s whereabouts in town, they needed to seek out the people who specialized in that kind of information.

Walking quickly through the street, Killer suddenly said, “I feel like… Yasopp’s name sounds familiar.”

“Then think harder.”

Kid glanced at him.

But hearing Killer say that, Kid also felt a sense of familiarity with the name Yasopp.

Yasopp…

The two suddenly stopped in their tracks.

Although Kid’s face still showed a cold, menacing expression, the aura around him had noticeably cooled down.

As for Killer, it was hard to tell his reaction since he was wearing a mask.

After a long pause, Killer asked blankly, “What should we do next?”

“Leave!”

Kid gritted his teeth.

He loved collecting weapons, but some weapons weren’t worth the trouble.

But Kid’s flintlock was different; it was one of the weapons he intended to use in battle, a short sword and a short gun, one of each.

That’s why he was so persistent, even willing to stay in Mad Hat Town for so long.

But now, since he couldn’t get Kid’s flintlock, there was no reason to stay.

Just then, they encountered a man with his head down, reading an auction catalog while walking.

Seeing that they were about to collide…

Kid remained unmoved, letting the man bump into him.

Bang…

Though it was the man who bumped into Kid, he staggered back a few steps, dropping the auction catalog.

“Bastard, can’t you watch where you’re going…”

The man’s anger flared up.

But before he could finish his sentence, Kid punched him, sending him flying ten meters away, his life or death uncertain.

“Trash like you dares to go to sea?”

Kid spat on the ground.

Suddenly, he noticed the auction catalog.
