As Hashirama and Tobirama observed, surprised by the sight of Marissa, an eight-year-old girl with the physique of a towering muscle-bound warrior, an even more astonishing scene unfolded before their eyes.
“Ora ora ora ora!”
In the training ground, Marissa launched a barrage of punches at Tsunade, her fists creating afterimages with their sheer speed and power.
Suddenly, a pair of crimson Sharingan with three tomoe appeared in Tsunade’s eyes, spinning rapidly and allowing her to evade each of Marissa’s attacks effortlessly.
“Is that… the Sharingan?!” Hashirama exclaimed in a hushed voice, shocked to see the Uchiha’s signature dojutsu in his granddaughter’s eyes.
“An implanted Sharingan? It seems Tsunade has indeed gotten very close to the Uchiha. Doesn’t she realize the danger of those eyes?” Tobirama’s face was grim, deeply concerned about the inherent dangers of the Sharingan.
After a moment of silence, Hashirama spoke, “If it’s Tsunade’s choice, then there’s nothing more to say. I trust she can handle those eyes.”
Back in the training ground, the sparring session between Tsunade and Marissa was nearing its conclusion.
“Ora!” Marissa roared once more, charging at Tsunade like a fierce tiger, throwing a powerful punch.
This punch harnessed strength from her feet, and transferred through her waist to her arm, her entire muscular frame flexing with the effort, exerting all her strength.
Even before her fist connected, the powerful gusts from her punch sent Tsunade’s hair and clothes fluttering wildly.
“Come, let’s settle this,” Tsunade’s eyes gleamed as she stood her ground, raising her right fist to meet Marissa’s.
At that moment, a powerful burst of energy erupted from Tsunade, like a tornado arising from nowhere, capable of destroying everything in its path.
Tsunade’s signature superhuman strength was unleashed.
In the next instant, their fists collided with a resounding boom, creating a shockwave that blew away the rain and scattered pebbles across the ground.
Marissa’s strong body was sent flying, tracing an arc through the air before crashing into the stands, leaving a large crater.
Tsunade was also pushed back several steps before she stabilized herself, shaking off the slight numbness in her arm.
“Such strength. I can’t just think of her as an eight-year-old,” Tsunade murmured, impressed by Marissa’s power.
“Dammit!”
From beneath the rubble, Marissa’s angry shout echoed. She emerged like a cannonball, once again charging at Tsunade.
Despite being sent flying by Tsunade’s punch, she appeared unscathed, a testament to her incredibly resilient body.
“Wait.”
Tsunade furrowed her brow, commanding sharply.
Marissa halted abruptly, then retracted her fists, asking in confusion, “What’s wrong, godmother?”
Indeed, Tsunade had become Marissa’s godmother, a suggestion made by Samui that was recently formalized.
This meant that even though Karin had left, Tsunade had gained another daughter.
Truth be told, given that Tsunade was 54 and Marissa only 8, Marissa should technically call her grandmother, not godmother. However, Tsunade, being highly conscious of her appearance and age, preferred the term godmother over grandmother.
Everyone knew that mentioning Tsunade’s age was taboo.
Hence, Samui had Marissa recognize Tsunade as her godmother.
“Didn’t your father teach you the secret of superhuman strength?” Tsunade asked, frowning.
Marissa’s punch was powerful, but it relied more on brute force than on a proper combination of physical strength and chakra.
It was well known that Uchiha Dan’s taijutsu was the strongest in the ninja world, even Tsunade had to admit. Yet, he hadn’t taught these techniques to his daughter?
This seemed unbelievable.
Marissa shook her head, replying, “Hmph, I wouldn’t ask him to teach me. It would be too embarrassing.”
She was the epitome of rebellion.
Tsunade was left speechless, unable to comprehend the strange relationship between Uchiha Dan and Marissa.
Marissa, curious, asked, “Godmother, was that punch you used on me just now the Senju clan’s superhuman strength? It was amazing. Half my body is still numb from it. Ouch, it really hurts.”
As she spoke, she winced, finally feeling the delayed pain due to her thick-skinned nature.
Tsunade couldn’t help but laugh, nodding, “Yes, your father used his Sharingan to steal that move from me.”
She recalled their first encounter where Dan had choked her unconscious, her face darkening at the memory.
Marissa, not noticing Tsunade’s expression, muttered, “Too bad I don’t have the Sharingan.”
Seeing Marissa, an idea popped into Tsunade’s mind.
She knew she could never outdo Dan and was destined to be bullied by him. So why not take a different approach? By training Marissa, who had immense potential, maybe this goddaughter could one day give Dan a good beating and avenge her.
With this thought, Tsunade’s eyes gleamed. She patted Marissa on the shoulder and said earnestly, “Marissa, since you’ve made me your godmother, I don’t have anything else to give you. So, I’ll teach you the superhuman strength technique. Do you want to learn it?”
This decision wasn’t solely about getting back at Dan.
Although Tsunade had many disciples, none had inherited her superhuman strength and taijutsu techniques. Marissa was a rough gem, the perfect candidate for this legacy.
Marissa’s eyes lit up, “Godmother, you’re the best!”
She then hugged Tsunade with her powerful arms, expressing her happiness.
“…”
Although she knew Marissa was only eight, being hugged by someone with such a muscular frame felt strange for Tsunade.
She sighed, “Marissa, don’t you realize you’re covered in mud and water? You’re dirtying my clothes.”
“Oh, I forgot,” Marissa released her grip, smiling sheepishly.
She noticed the mud on Tsunade’s chest, which stained her fair skin, and quickly handed her a handkerchief.
Tsunade sighed as she wiped off the mud, thinking Marissa was a good child, but her overly strong build might make finding a boyfriend difficult in the future.
She hoped her goddaughter wouldn’t end up single like her.
While Tsunade pondered this, a tall and a short figure entered the training ground — Samui and her younger son, Hagoromo, bringing lunch.
“Tsunade-sama, Marissa, it’s lunchtime. Let’s take a break,” Samui smiled, approaching them.
“Godmother,” Hagoromo timidly greeted Tsunade.
“What a good boy!” Tsunade patted Hagoromo’s head and smiled at Samui. He really follows after you. You know, I envy you for having such wonderful children.”
“Don’t be fooled by their good behavior now. They can be quite a handful,” Samui sighed.
“Mom,” Marissa said, hugging Samui’s arm, “Godmother said she would teach me superhuman strength.”
“Really?” Samui looked at Tsunade with surprise.
Tsunade nodded, “I heard about the Chunin Exams. Marissa will face some tough opponents. She needs proper training to handle them.”
Then, she sternly told Marissa, “If you don’t win first place after I teach you, I won’t acknowledge you as my goddaughter. Don’t embarrass me.”
Alarmed, Marissa quickly promised, “Don’t worry. I’ll use your superhuman strength to defeat all my opponents.”
“Thank you for taking care of Marissa, Tsunade-sama,” Samui bowed sincerely.
Tsunade frowned and said, “After all these years, why are you still so formal with me? Am I a stranger to you?”
“I didn’t mean it that way,” Samui quickly explained, sweating.
Tsunade waved her hand dismissively, “Don’t call me ‘sama’ anymore. Just call me ‘sis.'”
“Okay, Tsunade-sis.”
“That’s more like it,” Tsunade finally smiled.
“Let’s sit down and eat before the food gets cold,” Samui suggested.
They all moved to a large tree at the edge of the training ground to shelter from the rain.
Hagoromo diligently spread out a picnic blanket under the tree. Samui unpacked the bento boxes, releasing a rich aroma that made everyone’s mouth water.
“Let’s eat!” Marissa shouted, grabbing a drumstick and devouring it.
Tsunade and Samui exchanged a smile and picked up their chopsticks to enjoy the meal.
From a nearby tree, Hashirama and Tobirama watched the scene, feeling a deep sense of contentment.
After a while, Hashirama smiled relievedly, “Seeing Tsunade so happy, I feel at ease.”
“Don’t you want to meet her?” Tobirama asked.
“No,” Hashirama shook his head. He had intended to reveal himself and talk to Tsunade, but now he decided against it. He was a dead man and shouldn’t disturb the living.
Besides, their presence might attract unwanted attention from the Uchiha, causing trouble for Tsunade.
Just watching her from afar was enough.
After a moment of silence, Tobirama suggested, “Since we’re in the Uchiha
compound, why not visit the Naka Shrine and examine the so-called tablet left by the Sage of Six Paths?”
There were indications that the Uchiha’s current prosperity was closely linked to that tablet.
Curious, Tobirama wanted to investigate.
Hashirama shook his head, “You go ahead. I’d like to stay here and watch Tsunade a bit longer.”
“Alright, big brother, be careful. I’ll meet you on the hillside outside Konoha in an hour,” Tobirama decided.
“You be careful too.”
Hashirama watched as Tobirama disappeared into the Uchiha forest.
Under the tree at the training ground, Marissa continued to eat voraciously.
“Slow down, you’re a girl, at least have some manners,” Samui sighed, handing Marissa a napkin to wipe her mouth.
Tsunade chuckled, “Eat up. This afternoon’s training will be tough.”
“Ah,” Marissa burped, patting her full stomach, “I’m so happy. I have two moms and a cute little brother. If only I didn’t have that annoying dad, everything would be perfect.”
“Marissa, don’t talk about your father like that,” Samui said, exasperated.
“Hahaha, well said,” Tsunade laughed heartily, feeling gratified.
While they laughed, Hagoromo suddenly sensed something, looking up and calling, “Father.”
In that moment, a ripple appeared in the air, and Dan, clad in his white Hokage robe, appeared.
The laughter ceased, and Tsunade’s smile froze.
“Looks like everyone’s having a picnic in the rain,” Dan remarked, picking up his son Hagoromo.
This little guy had been the first to sense his arrival. Was it a father-son connection or a talent for detecting space-time fluctuations?
Indeed, his son was a genius.
“Dan, I thought you wouldn’t be home for lunch…” Samui began apologetically, starting to stand up.
Dan gently pressed her shoulder, sitting between Samui and Tsunade, saying, “Excuse me.”
His imposing figure squeezed Tsunade to the side.
Annoyed, Tsunade glared at him.
Dan ignored her glare, picking up a rice ball and eating it, saying between bites, “Having a family picnic in the rain is so warm and wonderful.”
Tsunade froze, then retorted, “Who’s family? You…”
She stopped herself from cursing, mindful of the children present.
“Are you going to eat that bread? If not, I will,” Dan said, eyeing the bread before Tsunade. Without waiting for a response, he grabbed it.
“Give it back!” Tsunade reached out to retrieve it from his mouth.
“Darn dad, don’t bully my godmother,” Marissa joined in, and the three started tussling.
Samui and Hagoromo watched, covering their mouths to hide their laughter.
Indeed, as Dan said, it was a warm and happy family moment.
