Chapter 299: The Ōtsutsuki Clan
Konoha Village.
This was the third time.
Boom!
As Naruto launched another Tailed Beast Bomb, a dazzling light once again appeared in the sky over Konoha, accompanied by a deafening explosion that drowned out everything.
Although the explosion took place several kilometres above ground, the massive shockwave still reached Konoha below.
Crack, crack.
The windows of high-rise buildings in Konoha shattered instantly, crashing down onto the streets. Many villagers were also knocked to the ground by the explosion, some losing their sight, others dying on the spot.
Today was undoubtedly a day of disaster for Konoha.
After a long while, the entire village finally recovered slightly from the shock.
At that moment.
“Captain, something’s wrong, I can’t sense the Sixth Hokage’s chakra!”
An Anbu member reported to Kakashi in horror, saying that the last time he sensed Dan’s chakra was in mid-air—right at the centre of the Tailed Beast Bomb explosion.
And now, Dan’s presence had vanished without a trace. There was nothing left.
Could it be that the Sixth Hokage…
“No, impossible!”
Kakashi, drenched in cold sweat, denied the terrible thought in his mind. He couldn’t believe that the man named Uchiha Dan would die so easily.
At this moment.
The Hokage must be somewhere, fiercely battling the enemy who attacked Konoha.
Believe in the Sixth Hokage!
With this thought, Kakashi steadied his mind and decided to focus on what he could do: rescuing as many of Konoha’s stricken villagers from the rubble as possible.
High above in the distant sky.
On the moon, directly exposed to intense sunlight without any atmospheric protection, in an environment without oxygen and filled with various cosmic rays, ordinary people couldn’t survive. But the ninjas standing at the pinnacle of the ninja world were exceptions.
Such as Uchiha Dan, Uchiha Madara, and Naruto Uzumaki.
A blue Susanoo, a black Muscled Susanoo, and an orange-red Nine-Tailed Fox, each over a hundred meters tall, stood in a tense standoff.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…”
In the “cockpit” atop the blue Susanoo, Madara stared at the black Susanoo opposite him, his face full of shock.
His full-body Susanoo was already as majestic and imposing as a mountain, awe-inspiring like a deity, but compared to Dan’s Muscled Susanoo, its aura instantly diminished.
Like a malnourished monkey.
However.
Who was stronger would only be known after a fight.
With a gleam in his eyes, Madara’s Susanoo suddenly moved, dashing forward and drawing its sword swiftly.
Swish.
The cold blade, accompanied by the tangible, fierce sword energy, aimed straight at the Muscled Susanoo, intending to cut it in half from head to toe.
This slash could level mountains.
Faced with the oncoming Susanoo, the Muscled Susanoo also moved.
It lowered its centre of gravity, took a firm stance, and then raised a fist several meters in diameter. It met the descending katana head-on with a seemingly slow but fast uppercut.
A deafening crash ensued.
Incredibly, the sword broke. The immense reaction force even caused the Susanoo to stagger backwards several steps.
Snicker.
The broken blade fell from mid-air, embedding itself into the moon’s surface and reflecting the blinding sunlight.
After all.
Whether it’s fists or blades, both are manifestations of chakra. There is no issue of weapons overpowering bare hands; it’s about whose chakra is stronger and more abundant, making it harder.
Obviously, Dan’s chakra was harder than Madara’s.
“Damn it.”
Madara cursed inwardly, refusing to admit defeat. After a brief adjustment, he conjured a new chakra katana and charged again at Muscle Susanoo.
“Roar!”
On the other side, the Nine-Tails roared, opened its massive jaws, and bit down on the Muscle Susanoo’s arm, joining the fray.
At the level of Dan, Madara, and Naruto, their chakras seemed almost inexhaustible, making it impossible to determine a victor in a short time.
During the legendary battle in the Valley of the End, Madara and Hashirama fought for an entire day and night.
Similarly, this two-against-one battle was destined to be a prolonged one, at least until the trio had ravaged the moon’s surface.
For a moment, chakra flew wildly across the lunar surface, the ground trembled continuously, craters collapsed, and cosmic dust soared into the sky.
The moon.
Not too small, but not too big either.
In a location several dozen kilometres northwest of the battlefield.
A grand castle appeared on the desolate lunar surface, enclosed in a giant bubble-like hemispherical barrier.
Many human figures were bustling about the castle, busy with various activities.
These people were the descendants of Ōtsutsuki Hamura, who had inherited their ancestor’s will over a thousand years ago to stay on the barren moon and guard the Gedo Statue.
They also kept a watchful eye on the ninja world’s affairs.
Recently, Hamura’s descendants couldn’t sit still any longer and held several family meetings in quick succession.
Woo woo woo.
Within the castle, shrill alarms rang out as figures appeared from all directions, rushing towards the main hall.
These people all had grey-white hair and Byakugan, resembling the Hyuga Clan of Konoha at a glance.
In fact.
The Hyuga Clan of Konoha were indeed the descendants left on Earth by Ōtsutsuki Hamura, just as the Uchiha inherited the Sharingan from Hagoromo. The Hyuga inherited the Byakugan from Hamura.
To be precise, the Sharingan evolved from the Byakugan, which was the original, pure eye of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, containing incredible power.
However, over a thousand years, the Byakugan bloodline was significantly diluted and degraded by both the Hyuga Clan on Earth and Hamura’s descendants on the moon.
Ultimately, only basic abilities like X-ray vision, telescopic vision, and a 360° field of view remained.
At least three hundred people gathered in the main hall, their heads bobbing like a sea of humanity.
“Quiet!”
The head of the Ōtsutsuki Clan sternly ordered, his sharp gaze sweeping across the hall, silencing the whispering clan members instantly.
The Ōtsutsuki Clan leader then solemnly began to speak:
“Over a thousand years ago, our ancestor, along with his brother, the Sage of Six Paths, defeated their evil mother Ōtsutsuki Kaguya and created the moon as a Chibaku Tensei to seal Kaguya’s body—the Gedo Statue.
Later, our ancestors chose to stay on the barren moon to guard the Gedo Statue, sacrificing the comforts of life on Earth.”
But this great sacrifice had an additional condition.
The Sage of Six Paths had said he would establish the Ninshu, using chakra as a bond to eliminate all wars and create a peaceful world.
Though our ancestors respected his brother, he was sceptical of the peaceful world his brother envisioned.
Therefore.
In his final moments, our ancestor entrusted us, his descendants, with the continued guardianship of the Gedo Statue, with one final instruction: if the Sage of Six Paths’ ideal failed to bring peace to the world—
We must destroy the entire ninja world before the power of chakra goes out of control.
As expected by our ancestors.
For a thousand years, we watched the ninja world from the moon, witnessing only a handful of peaceful years. Most of the time, the ninja world was engulfed in endless wars.
Especially the descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, divided into the Uchiha and Senju clans, who fought for a thousand years, spreading their hatred and conflicts across the ninja world.
They are the root of the world’s chaos, the tumours growing in its heart!
Now, the ironclad truth has proven:
The Sage of Six Paths’ creation of Ninshu and distribution of chakra to mortals was a complete failure.
Mortals are foolish and short-sighted. Once they gain power, their ambitions swell, often waging wars for personal gain, leading to countless deaths.
The ninjas on Earth even covet the tailed beasts, attempting to use them as weapons of war, causing greater destruction and slaughter in the ninja world.
Until now, the ninjas have committed unforgivable crimes!”
After this lengthy speech, the Ōtsutsuki Clan leader paused, then looked at a young boy beside him, softly saying:
“Toneri, you continue.”
“Yes, Clan Leader.”
The boy named Toneri stepped forward.
About fifteen or sixteen years old, he wore white robes, had pale skin and blue-white hair, and delicate willow-leaf eyebrows, making him look quite refined.
However, what puzzled people was that Toneri kept his eyes closed.
This was because he was born without eyes.
For an Ōtsutsuki Clan member, being born without Byakugan was devastating, dooming his future.
But Toneri was different.
Although he lacked eyes, he possessed a pure and vast Ōtsutsuki chakra within him, making him one of the strongest in the clan and highly regarded by the clan leader and elders.
Everyone unanimously believed that Toneri was the reincarnation of their ancestor, Ōtsutsuki Hamura. Perhaps one day, he would lead the clan to create a new and beautiful world.
In the past few years.
Toneri had stayed in the castle’s underground, guarding the Gedo Statue while monitoring the ninja world.
Until recently, an unexpected incident occurred.
“I regret to inform everyone of an unfortunate news. The Gedo Statue… has been stolen.”
Toneri stated this calmly.
Boom.
Instantly, it was like a huge stone had been dropped into the water, causing massive waves.
It was indeed true.
There had been rumours within the clan about this, but many clan members refused to believe it. Who could steal the Gedo Statue right under their noses?
“Is there a traitor within the family? Who betrayed the clan?”
Many immediately suspected an insider, as they were the only ones on the moon.
Several hundred thousand kilometres away, the ninja world was impossible for even the greatest ninja to reach the moon.
However, Toneri shook his head and revealed the shocking truth:
“It wasn’t an insider; it was a ninja from the ninja world. Someone awakened the Rinnegan and used its power to summon the Gedo Statue. Moreover, I suspect this has been happening for a long time, but this time, the person did not return the statue, which is how we noticed.”
What?
The clan members were stunned and panicked.
The Rinnegan.
The eyes of the Sage of Six Paths, even their ancestor Ōtsutsuki Hamura, couldn’t awaken those eyes.
“Who is it?” Someone quickly asked Toneri.
“The puppet I sent to investigate the ninja world just brought back valuable information. There are two people who have awakened the Rinnegan!”
Toneri dropped another bombshell.
Not one Rinnegan, but two.
As the clan members looked shocked, Toneri revealed their identities in detail:
“One of them is Konoha’s current Sixth Hokage, Uchiha Dan, who awakened the Rinnegan about two years ago.
The other is the leader of the Akatsuki organisation, Uzumaki Naruto. He inherited the Rinnegan from the previous leader, Pain. According to my speculation, Pain was the one who initially stole the Gedo Statue from the moon.
Regardless of who stole the statue, the situation is dire.
The bad news is that Uchiha Dan, seems to have discovered the secret of the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki and is trying to obtain the Gedo Statue and all the tailed beasts to become the second Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
The good news is, Dan currently has only six tailed beasts, while Naruto has the other three, and these two are archenemies, unlikely to decide a victor anytime soon.”
After Toneri finished speaking, the Ōtsutsuki Clan leader spoke again, summarising:
“You have all heard Toneri’s words.
Whether it is Dan or Naruto, if either becomes the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, it will bring great disaster to this world, and even we may not be spared.
So, we cannot wait any longer. We must immediately fulfil our ancestor’s last wish and take action!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he received unanimous support from the clan members.
Afterwards.
The clan leader, Toneri, and the elders of the clan revealed their “Plan to Destroy the Ninja World” after a thorough discussion.
The Ōtsutsuki clan on the moon did not plan to attack the ninja world directly or wage war with Konoha or the Akatsuki organisation led by Naruto, as there were too many variables in such an approach.
They had devised a better solution.
That was to use the moon itself.
The moon they stood on was initially created to seal the Gedo Statue. Now that the statue was stolen, it had no purpose.
Thus, Toneri proposed changing the moon’s orbit to bring it closer to Earth.
At that time, under Earth’s gravitational pull, the moon would quickly collapse and transform into countless large meteorites crashing into the ninja world, destroying the Five Great Ninja Villages.
Once the ninja civilisation was eradicated, the Ōtsutsuki clan would descend to Earth and rebuild a new world from the ruins.
As for the critical issue of how to change the moon’s orbit, this was no problem for the Ōtsutsuki clan.
They had a secret weapon.
“Clan members, prepare yourselves. The vile ninja era will soon end. As the noble Ōtsutsuki clan, we will become the new rulers of the world and lead the mortals on Earth to a new future.”
The clan leader spoke passionately, his face full of excitement.
“Long live the Ōtsutsuki!” The clan members, too, were fervent, filled with anticipation and longing for the future.
After all.
They had been in this godforsaken place for over a thousand years, and long-term residence in such an isolated and harsh environment was unbearable for anyone.
The beautiful Earth had long been their dream.
