Yasuo in Marvel Chapter 27

The Least Trustworthy People

After eliminating Pearl, Yasuo followed Coulson into the secret room. Inside, countless strips resembling old cloth hung in display cases. Upon closer inspection, they were yellowed pages of a book, exuding a sense of ancient history. Yasuo speculated that selling these would fetch a hefty price.

Seeing the items in the display cases, Coulson immediately took out a small computer and began analyzing and decoding the strange script on them. His serious expression indicated the extraordinary nature of these items. Indeed, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents’ equipment was comprehensive, fitting so many peculiar tools into a small suit.

While Yasuo wandered around curiously, he recognized these as pages from the legendary Book of the Dead. In many previous life movies, such as “The Mummy,” this book could bring the dead back to life with its magical incantations. Given the Marvel universe’s mysterious nature, who knew how powerful it could be? Even a single page allowed Deacon Frost to summon the Blood God, though the movie’s Blood God didn’t seem particularly formidable.

After ten minutes, Coulson urgently took out an emergency phone, reserved for critical moments with Nick Fury.

Nick Fury was in a routine meeting with representatives of the World Security Council. In the middle of the meeting, he raised an eyebrow.

“Excuse me, the meeting will have to pause for a moment,” Fury interrupted the American representative and decisively turned off the video projector, leaving the meeting.

Fury’s actions sparked dissatisfaction among the representatives, especially the American, who was furious at being interrupted.

“Coulson, what’s going on?” Fury asked seriously. He knew Coulson wouldn’t call unless it was something akin to a nuclear weapon going missing.

“Director, the vampire situation is much worse than we thought. It’s beyond my authority. Deacon Frost’s ambitions are larger than just overthrowing the purebloods,” Coulson began, giving an overview.

“I trust you wouldn’t disturb me without reason. Tell me the details,” Fury, knowing Coulson well, urged him to continue.

“We’ve found the Book of the Dead, the legendary Egyptian burial artifact. Deacon Frost plans to use it along with Blade and twelve pureblood vampires for a sacrificial ritual to summon the Blood God,” Coulson quickly summarized, awaiting Fury’s instructions.

Fury, though not familiar with the Book of the Dead and Blood God, understood the significance of such legendary items. During World War II, S.H.I.E.L.D. had confiscated several peculiar artifacts from HYDRA, proving that the world held many things beyond ordinary understanding and capabilities.

“Who else is with you? Who knows about the Book of the Dead?” Fury asked a crucial question.

“I’m with Yasuo. He shouldn’t know the exact purpose of these items. We came here to find leads on Blade, and the Book of the Dead was an accidental discovery,” Coulson assured, confident that Yasuo was unaware of the items’ true value and purpose.

Despite Coulson’s deliberate exclusion, Yasuo, with his superhuman hearing, overheard the conversation.

Alright, Yasuo wasn’t eavesdropping intentionally, but Coulson and Fury’s conversation didn’t escape him. Yasuo felt no need to comment—after all, he was a legendary transmigrator with a system. Why would he care about the Book of the Dead? He had a system, a system, a system—he repeated thrice for emphasis.

“Stay where you are. I’ll dispatch a quick reaction special forces team to secure the Book of the Dead. You and Yasuo need to go stop Deacon Frost and rescue Blade,” Fury instructed, avoiding direct involvement but sending S.H.I.E.L.D.’s best team to protect the Book of the Dead.

When Coulson returned, Yasuo asked knowingly, “Hey, Coulson, do you know what these are? I can’t understand a word of it.”

“Some obscure ancient script, probably recording vampire history. Just burial items, even our database can’t fully analyze them, but they have significant research value,” Coulson replied, skillfully blending truth and omission, perfecting the art of deception as a seasoned agent.

Had Yasuo not overheard the conversation, Coulson might have succeeded in fooling him. The second deceit, however, left Yasuo feeling quite displeased.

“That vampire was disgusting. I was impulsive. Where to next?” Yasuo felt regretful for killing Pearl in a fit of disgust, cutting off their lead on Blade’s whereabouts. Although he knew Blade was safe, countless vampires represented countless gold coins. Yasuo, focused on accumulating coins, felt the loss deeply, as if he might faint from heartache.

“Don’t worry, I locked onto their location through the video equipment. Blade must be with Deacon Frost,” Coulson reassured, appearing unfazed.

This was great news for Yasuo. The gold coins were still there, and he could rely on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s intelligence to earn more. Coulson’s deceit could be overlooked for now; there would come a time when they’d need his help, Yasuo thought vindictively.

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s get going—Blade is waiting for us!” Yasuo decided to trust Coulson for now.

“We need to wait a bit. Backup will arrive soon to secure this place and ensure everything remains hidden from the public,” Coulson responded, maintaining his composure.

Blade, a half-human, half-vampire anomaly, possessed vampire strength, regenerative ability, and speed without any vampire weaknesses. Born after his mother was bitten, Blade’s existence was unparalleled. He was destined to be a vampire hunter, constantly fighting until every vampire was eradicated.
