As Yasuo continued forward, a sense of danger welled up inside him, prompting him to stop. Sure enough, a massive burst of lightning erupted ahead.
Stopping in his tracks, Yasuo saw a bald man in a green combat suit with a monocle standing before him. His broad combat suit couldn’t hide the bulging muscles of his body. His right hand wore a high-tech mechanical glove, making him look like a significant character, exuding a boss-like aura.
“Red-clad weirdo, I didn’t even go looking for you, and you dare to come to trouble me!”
Yasuo noticed that the man shared a common flaw with all villains: he was long-winded. If you’re going to fight, just fight. Why do you have to talk so much before the fight? Is this some supreme setting in the Marvel Universe?
Sharon Carter, watching from afar, felt her heart, which had just started to relax after Yasuo’s victory over the enemy troops, tense up again. Stephen, excitedly jumping up, wanted to high-five Sharon Carter but noticed her expression had become more serious, even more so than before.
Yasuo, not wanting to waste words, directly used E (Sweeping Blade), lightly swinging his sword towards the man’s shiny bald head.
Strucker, a skilled combatant modified by the Death Spore Virus, possessed an invincible body and incredible healing speed, immune to any disease or virus on Earth. With his high-tech equipment, he had confidence that he could take down anyone in a one-on-one fight.
His mechanical glove blocked his head. The sword and mechanical glove clashed, emitting a metallic sound. The mechanical glove released ten thousand volts of electricity, interacting with Yasuo’s Statikk Shiv effect, causing a massive explosion between them.
“Face the wind!”
Yasuo quickly used Wind Wall to block the explosion’s energy directed towards him.
Strucker wasn’t as lucky. The explosion’s energy blasted his body, causing intense pain. Strucker opened his mouth, wanting to scream, to wail, but… the searing heatwave from the explosion felt like a fuel-air bomb detonating inside his lungs. He felt like his chest was about to burst.
“Cough, cough…” Strucker coughed violently, clearly suffering significant injuries from his first clash with Yasuo.
Yasuo didn’t miss this opportunity. Using Q (Steel Tempest), followed by a normal attack, then Q (Steel Tempest) again, he executed a basic combo, leaving three deep wounds on Strucker.
Strucker’s special combat suit, impervious even to large-caliber bullets, was easily breached by Yasuo. The front-line defense was annihilated, the battlefield collapsed, the mechanized troops destroyed, and now Strucker himself wasn’t a match.
Strucker fired a plasma blast from his mechanical glove and turned to flee without looking at the result. This red-clad weirdo was far stronger than he had anticipated. But it didn’t matter; he just needed to hold out for a while. As long as the red-clad weirdo dared to pursue him, the Death Spore Virus within Strucker would surely take him down.
Yasuo took the plasma blast head-on, the impact causing slight dizziness and damaging his Blood Moon skin.
Ignoring the fleeing Strucker, Yasuo continued rushing towards the enemy’s interior. The virus antidote was his primary goal. Gold coins and such could wait; he had killed too many, and now he was slightly weary of battle.
While running, Yasuo heard Stephen’s voice through the communicator, “Idol, it’s bad. Agent Carter has fallen unconscious. Her condition is critical, and her life signs could disappear at any moment. Before passing out, she mentioned that the man you just fought is the one who released the virus, infecting her. You need to catch him quickly.”
Damn, Yasuo realized the man he just fought was his target. He had been right in front of him, and he let him escape. Turning anxiously, he chased after Strucker.
Three armed helicopters spotted Yasuo, locking onto him with their machine guns and launching several missiles at him.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…” Missiles flew wildly, the intense attack irritating Yasuo. Just as the helicopters were bombarding him, a shadow leapt from the ground, lightning forming a chain that passed through the three helicopters, igniting them in flames.
“Boom, boom, boom…” Fireballs fell from the sky as all three helicopters exploded, crashing to the ground, causing a massive dust cloud.
Smoke, fire, wreckage, corpses strewn about, the wails of the wounded, blood flowing in all directions. As the sky began to lighten, weak rays of sunlight illuminated the scene of devastation.
Strucker, realizing Yasuo hadn’t pursued him, felt disappointed. This powerful mutant was cautious. If he had chased after him, Strucker was confident the Death Spore Virus would have taken him down within minutes.
“Open the escape tunnel, prepare for evacuation, destroy all records. The base is temporarily abandoned. All personnel will disperse and await further orders from the organization. Hail Hydra!” Strucker issued his final command.
Yasuo, having lost his target, had no choice but to rush into the enemy’s building. Encountering numerous fleeing enemies, the name “Red-clad Weirdo” now struck fear in the hearts of Hydra’s personnel. Anyone who saw the red shadow collapsed in terror. A few Hydra soldiers who attempted to resist were swiftly cut down by Yasuo.
Monahan and Jetson, Strucker’s most trusted subordinates, received the final command and turned to delete and destroy all the base’s information.
They still couldn’t believe that their powerful base had been forced to abandon by a single red-clad weirdo.
“Bang!”
Monahan turned around to see the red-clad weirdo kicking the door open. He drew his gun but didn’t get the chance to shoot. The red-clad weirdo at the door vanished before him, and everything went dark for Monahan.
Jetson, busy destroying evidence, saw the red-clad weirdo kill his colleague Monahan with a single strike. Panicking, he raised his hands in surrender.
Judging by his uniform, Yasuo figured the man was a high-ranking officer in the base. Just as well, Yasuo had questions for him, so he spared his life.
“The antidote for the special virus, hand it over, and I might let you live!” Yasuo demanded bluntly, not caring about negotiation tactics.
Hearing the words “virus antidote,” Jetson’s first thought was that the red-clad weirdo was infected with Strucker’s Death Spore Virus. Only Strucker could withstand that powerful virus; there was no antidote. The infected would gradually weaken and eventually die.
Jetson, eyes darting, replied, “There’s no antidote for the master’s virus. But I can take you to him. I’m sure he’ll be more than willing to cure you.”
No antidote? Yasuo was surprised by the response.
“Yes, the Death Spore Virus has no antidote. Only Strucker can control it.” Jetson revealed the key name: Strucker.
Hearing the name, Yasuo recalled Strucker, a Hydra officer from World War II based in Sokovia. It all made sense now. However, the movie depicted Strucker as an ordinary person who eventually surrendered to Captain America. Yasuo didn’t expect him to have such abilities.
“Hail Hydra!”
As Yasuo was recollecting, his captive shouted the classic Hydra phrase and charged at Yasuo with a crazed look.
Yasuo dispatched him with a single strike. The base began to explode. Damn, the movie trope hadn’t lied. The captive had triggered a self-destruct sequence, intending to take Yasuo down with him. Yasuo had no choice but to turn around, using his summoner skill ‘Flash’. Strucker had been right in front of him, and he missed the opportunity. Now, he had to return to Sharon Carter and think of a new plan.
