Yasuo’s head throbbed painfully, making him feel like passing out. He struggled to stay conscious as he felt a familiar body pressing him down.
“Where am I…?” His brain felt like it was scrambled tofu, his memory hazy. Yasuo forced his eyes open, scanning his surroundings.
He found himself in a damp cave, slowly getting to his feet, trying to recall everything that happened before he blacked out. He began to move cautiously in one direction.
Before he could get far, a familiar voice called out to him, “Yasuo, stay still! Your body isn’t ready for movement yet!” Sharon Carter, soaking wet, her curvaceous figure fully visible, looked relieved to see Yasuo awake, urging him to rest.
“Where are we? What happened? What about the enemy?” Yasuo asked, his mind racing with concern.
“I only know you came to save me, but you were attacked. You started holding your head in pain, then the enemy suddenly combusted. You fainted, and it started raining. I dragged you into this cave to stay dry,” Sharon explained, still bewildered by the bizarre turn of events. She had been forced into revealing herself due to Stephen being held hostage, then Yasuo appeared, taking the brunt of an attack that caused the enemy to burst into flames before collapsing in pain.
R. Giyera, seeing Yasuo incapacitated by his telekinetic attack, abandoned his escape plan, eager to finish off such a powerful foe. But before he could relish his victory, excruciating pain engulfed him, burning him alive within seconds.
Yasuo, right before losing consciousness, heard Sharon protectively covering him. He also faintly registered system notifications, but couldn’t check them. Summoning the last of his strength, he uttered “Ignite,” the summoner spell that incinerated R. Giyera, saving them.
Yasuo remembered Stephen, the passionate rookie agent, his biggest fan, their driver, and occasional third wheel. He hesitated to ask Sharon about him, knowing the absence of Stephen spoke volumes. Yasuo felt a pang of guilt for failing to save him.
Seeing Sharon’s abdomen tightly bound with a cloth, blood soaking through and dripping, Yasuo quickly used his new item, Mikael’s Crucible, which had some healing properties.
As Sharon watched Yasuo wave his hand, a white light enveloped her, causing her wound to warm and itch slightly, a sign of healing.
Sharon, sitting by a fire, didn’t bother hiding her wet clothes, drying them while warming herself. She glanced at her healing wound, wanting to ask Yasuo about Stephen but couldn’t bring herself to. Reviving the dead was beyond any power she knew.
Yasuo gradually pieced together his pre-fainting memories, remembering the system’s notifications. The usually aloof system initiated contact, indicating something significant.
“Warning: Host under attack by unknown energy outside of League of Legends system!”
“System emergency terminal defense activated. Attacking energy being assimilated!”
“System assimilated unknown energy. Upgrade requirements met. Upgrading…”
A series of system notifications left Yasuo bewildered. The final attack didn’t knock him out; the system absorbed it, showing a previously unknown protective function.
“Ding! System upgrade complete. Initiating League of Legends System 2.0.”
System 2.0? It felt like the system had received a major patch. Yasuo put aside his complaints to explore the new features.
“Ding! Updated League of Legends Equipment System with new items and functions!”
“Ding! Hero Faction Mode activated. Instance Mode enabled!”
“Ding! Challenge Quest System activated. Buff rewards available!”
Yasuo eagerly examined the updates.
The in-game shop revealed many surprises, including previously removed items from Seasons 1-7. The highlight was a green sword, the legendary “Sword of the Occult,” granting +10 attack damage and stacking +5 attack damage per kill, up to 20 stacks, with a 15% movement speed boost at max stacks, costing 1190 gold.
Unable to resist, Yasuo purchased it, relishing the thought of 15% increased movement speed, essential for a joyful wind swordsman.
Other additions included various consumables and potions for 500 gold each, as well as vision wards revealing hidden objects and three trinkets: the yellow warding totem for placing invisible wards, the red sweeper for detecting traps and stealth, and the blue scrying orb for revealing distant areas. Each trinket was free, usable once daily.
Equipping the Sword of the Occult, Yasuo now boasted Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Berserker’s Greaves, Sword of the Occult, Mortal Reminder, and a Doran’s Blade, making him a formidable yet incomplete build for a joyful wind swordsman.
The Hero Faction opened, showing Yasuo as the primary hero (neutral faction), earning gold by defeating enemies or allies.
“Ding! Host detected interacting with unique substance ‘Berserker Virus.’ Unlocking secondary hero template: Singed, the Mad Chemist!”
Unexpectedly, Yasuo unlocked a new hero template, Singed, known for his fast-paced playstyle and trail of poison. The Berserker Virus’s connection made sense.
Secondary Hero Template: Singed (evil faction). Faction attribute punishes good deeds. His motto: “Shake it, bake it, and wreak havoc!”
Yasuo felt a shiver, realizing this template encouraged villainous behavior. Using it sparingly seemed wise.
The final feature, Challenge Quests, revealed tasks currently unavailable, featuring ultra-realistic icons of Rift Herald, Drake, Baron Nashor, and Elder Dragon, all grayed out with countdowns, indicating unspawned neutral monsters.
Yasuo felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. The system’s upgrade opened vast possibilities, but navigating these deep waters required caution and strategy.
