Under the bright sun, the vast blue sea was calm.
On this expansive ocean, a sinister black pirate ship was sailing, heading toward the horizon where three islands could be seen as small black dots.
But now, blocking its path, were three much larger warships.
These were Dressrosa’s warships!
Seeing the three military-grade ships ahead, the pirates on the deck were shocked. At the forefront, a man with an empty right sleeve and a wide-bladed knife in his left hand looked grim.
“No passage,” Kaku stood at the bow of the central warship, his voice clear and composed despite the miles between them, reaching the pirate ship. “One-Armed Jack.”
On the left warship stood a massive five-meter-tall man, Anderson, who laughed heartily, “Wahahaha! You’re too late, little one-armed fellow. This sea now belongs to my benefactor!”
“Jack Smart,” Cray, on the right warship, added, “Eight years, and you’re still as brainless as ever, daring to take this territory.”
“Since you’ve heard about this place, you should know who the current ruler is,” Cray licked the golden hook where his right hand once was, grinning wickedly. “Never mind a fool who doesn’t know his limits. I’ve long wanted to kill you and take your gold!”
Cray’s words indicated that he and One-Armed Jack knew each other.
But given they were both pirates in the New World, it wasn’t surprising.
Standing at the front of the black pirate ship was, naturally, its captain, One-Armed Jack, Jack Smart.
“Cray Smith! I thought you were dead after disappearing eight years ago!” Jack retorted, glaring at Cray. “Hmph! Crawled out from some dirt, I see, and became a dog for the Warlords?”
Despite initially looking grim at the sight of the warships, Jack quickly regained his pirate bravado and shouted arrogantly, “I see you were turned into a toy by Doflamingo and made a slave for eight years, can’t even stand up straight now, ‘Gold Digger’ Cray? Hahaha!”
“Hahahahaha!” Jack’s arrogance even emboldened his frightened crew, who all laughed recklessly.
Cray’s face turned extremely sour.
Being turned into a toy and forced into hard labor for eight years was his greatest humiliation and one of the reasons he joined Nagato. Initially, Joe had persuaded him to join by promising he would never go back and face such ridicule again.
Joe’s words were true. Now, facing someone he knew from before, his sore spot was immediately exposed, infuriating Cray to the extreme.
The rough Anderson also snorted angrily, but before the two could act, Kaku spoke up, calming them down temporarily.
“This meaningless banter is pointless,” Kaku said. “One-Armed Jack, what are you doing here?”
“Huh?” Jack turned his gaze to Kaku, sneering. “Who the hell are you, asking such a dumb question? Of course, I’m here to take these islands!”
“Tch…” Cray spat in frustration but held back his urge to attack.
Anderson did the same, knowing it was part of their mission.
Kaku crossed his arms, with a hidden surveillance Den Den Mushi in his clothing, its eyes peeking out.
Despite Jack’s insults, Kaku remained calm. “But that’s Whitebeard’s core territory.”
“That’s why I want it!” Jack shouted arrogantly. “Taking these islands will give me endless gold and weapons to expand my One-Armed Jack Pirates tenfold, a hundredfold! Whitebeard’s position will be mine!”
“Dreaming of becoming a Yonko? You’re quite the pirate,” Kaku replied to Jack’s audacious ambition. “But do you have the strength?”
As he spoke, Kaku signaled with his hands, and the adjacent warships commanded by Cray and Anderson turned, aligning their cannons with the pirate ship, ready for battle.
“Taking these islands means facing Whitebeard’s wrath, not to mention the other Yonkos sharpening their claws. Small-time players will be torn to pieces,” Kaku declared from the bow of his giant ship. “Jack Smart, are you ready for that?”
“It’s not about taking this sea to become a Yonko; only a Yonko can take this sea!”
With Kaku’s words, Cray and Anderson’s warships finished turning, forming a cannon blockade in front of the pirate ship.
Kaku’s words were true, making Jack’s face darken with silence.
No one in the New World dared to challenge the Yonkos directly, except for the foolhardy.
“Hahaha, I know those guys are tough, but a pirate’s gotta be lawless, right?” Jack laughed recklessly. “If I become a Yonko, that’s great! If not, I’ll just plunder a lot. No loss!”
Seeing the warships ready for battle, Jack shouted, “In the end, it’s a fight, right? Bring it on! I’m ready!”
Kaku nodded, not in response to the challenge, but satisfied with Jack’s reaction under his questioning.
Because everything had been transmitted through the surveillance Den Den Mushi hidden in his clothes, the entire scene was broadcast live to the residents on the three islands.
Seeing the arrogant face and dangerous intentions of Jack, the residents fell into panic and fear.
“A pirate is coming to our island!”
“This is Whitebeard’s territory!”
“The scoundrel wants to become a Yonko!”
“That’s dangerous. This pirate crew is notorious for its brutality, and One-Armed Jack has a bounty of 390 million!”
“The scumbag plans to plunder if he fails. How much damage does he intend to cause?”
“We can’t resist this guy…”
The people were terrified and discussing. They knew that if Whitebeard and his crew were here, they could definitely fend off and defeat One-Armed Jack. But the problem was that not a single member of the Whitebeard Pirates was present!
Many residents still supported Whitebeard, and even though they knew the purpose of these broadcasts, in a world where safety could be bartered for value, this new Warlord seemed to be offering protection in exchange for allegiance.
In the residents’ eyes, this was a sincere gesture from the new rulers of the islands, showing their intent to replace Whitebeard’s protection.
So, on the ocean, a hundred miles away, Kaku spoke again from the bow of the warship.
“Want to fight? That’s a given. Your threat to these islands is certain, and it must be eliminated.”
“Understand the terror of the Yonkos and remember it well. Don’t covet these islands,” Kaku declared, addressing both One-Armed Jack and the residents. “From today, this sea belongs to a new emperor. Not a pirate king, but a true king!”
Boom!
As he finished speaking, the warship’s heavy cannons roared in unison!
