No, don’t eat food from strangers!
Before the blonde girl could remind her, Charlotte Linlin eagerly thanked Figo, snatched the roasted meat from his hand, and stuffed it into her mouth. Her eyes squinted with joy, and her cheeks turned pink.
“So, so delicious!” she mumbled.
Oh no, what if it’s poisoned… The blonde girl glared at Figo warily. “Who are you?”
“Just passing by,” Figo said. “What a tall little girl, only ten years old and already taller than me. That’s remarkable.”
He observed Charlotte Linlin.
At ten years old, Charlotte Linlin was over three meters tall. Probably due to the tough training at CP0, her undeveloped body was as thin as an ordinary little girl’s, but her pale skin hid muscles and strength. Her face still had some baby fat, and her pink bangs made her look very cute.
Meanwhile, the blonde girl was the exact opposite. She looked about seventeen or eighteen, with a slender figure, shoulder-length curly hair, and an excellent temperament. Wearing large sunglasses, she looked mature, yet her height was less than a meter.
Talk about dissonance.
“Are you her sister?” Figo asked her. “I’m Figo. You can call me Grandpa Figo. What are your names?”
“Grandpa?” The blonde girl raised her eyebrows, looking at Figo. Is he trying to elevate his status? She glanced at the nearly finished roasted meat in Linlin’s hand, confirmed it wasn’t poisoned, and relaxed, thinking of Linlin’s monstrous strength. She replied, “She’s Linlin, and I’m Bakkin. Thanks for the roasted meat. This child is always greedy.”
‘Bakkin? So it’s her. Oda really has a dark sense of humor, turning beautiful young girls into unrecognizable old women when they age.’
Miss Bakkin, the future self-proclaimed lover of Whitebeard and mother of Whitebeard Jr., Charlotte Linlin sure attracts big frauds. After the nun, she meets her.
“No problem,” Figo said. “Little Linlin is very cute. How old is she?”
“Ten.”
Linlin answered herself, “Grandpa Figo? Figo? I think I’ve heard of… um…”
Recognize me? Bakkin’s heart sank. Is this some infamous pirate the World Government is watching?
Never heard this name before.
She didn’t let Linlin continue, “Sorry, we have something to do, so we’ll be going.”
“Are you going to the food festival at Pleasure Street?” Figo pointed to the flyer sticking out of Linlin’s pocket. “What a coincidence, I’m going there too. I’m a great cook; that meat just now was roasted by me. Good, right, Linlin?”
Linlin’s eyes lit up, and she couldn’t help drooling again. “Delicious! I’ve never had anything so good!”
“Then we can go together? I’m planning to set up a barbecue stall at the food festival. You can eat as much as you want for free, Linlin!”
“Really?!” Linlin was excited.
Bakkin’s face darkened. This bastard… What is he trying to do? I don’t want to go to the food festival; it’s a trap set by the World Government! Damn it!
Free food for this pig? In less than a month, she’s eaten up all the hundreds of thousands of Berry I saved up. You have no idea what pig-like appetite means! If it weren’t for my lack of strength, forcing me to start as an apprentice in the Rocks Pirates, I wouldn’t be risking everything to kidnap a CP0!
Money spent, risks taken, the sunk costs are too high for Bakkin to accept.
After a month together, she couldn’t let a piece of roasted meat take her away. Considering Linlin’s strength, Bakkin decided to lay her cards on the table, “Are you a pirate? Linlin and I are planning to join the Rocks Pirates. You know the Rocks Pirates, right? For your own safety, we should part ways…”
“What a coincidence,” Figo interrupted with a smile. “I’m also looking for the Rocks Pirates. We can travel together.”
“…” Bakkin was silent for a moment, “Are you planning to be their cook?”
“Something like that,” Figo said.
‘What the hell!’ Bakkin cursed internally.
Figo continued, “Then let’s go to the food festival at Pleasure Street first, and then we can find the Rocks Pirates together, how about that?”
Bakkin screamed inside: Not okay!
Linlin: “Sure, sure.”
“Good girl.” Figo smiled, patting Linlin’s head.
Linlin was stunned, then pressed her head against Figo’s palm, feeling the warmth. Her eyes reddened, and her mouth pouted as if she was about to cry.
Figo asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”
“I, I miss Grandpa Pesslo.”
Pesslo? Figo’s memory flashed back 42 years to the nun’s capture. He remembered the leader of the three CP9 members.
So, it was him. Hearing that name, Figo understood why Linlin was in CP0 and asked, “Would your Grandpa Pesslo pat your head like this? What happened to him?”
Tears fell from Linlin’s eyes, “Grandpa Pesslo, Grandpa died three months ago.”
“I see.”
Not much older than me, and already dead. Short-lived. No wonder they let her out at ten. The World Government was probably letting her relax.
“It’s okay. You have Grandpa Figo now.” Figo wiped her tears, patting her head, and led her toward the coast.
Bakkin stood in place, stunned for a while, feeling very redundant. She gritted her teeth, clenched her fists, and reluctantly followed with her short legs.
…
Pleasure Street, in name, but an island in reality.
It was a well-known island in the New World, filled with casinos, taverns, and other entertainment venues. It was a paradise for pirates and criminals.
Few knew it was a significant intelligence hub for CP0. The queens of Pleasure Street were always CP0 members!
Even the passenger ships to Pleasure Street were controlled by World Government members. Charlotte Linlin’s towering figure couldn’t be hidden by a cloak. As soon as she appeared at the dock, several people noticed her.
Bakkin sensed this, half-hiding behind Linlin, her eyes darting around, cursing inwardly. She glanced at Figo, who walked beside Linlin, seemingly unaware. She was furious.
‘Where did this idiot come from! Idiot! I was so close to succeeding! What now? I have to leave. I can’t follow this idiot and this pig into a trap!’ she cursed internally.
Just then, Figo turned back and said, “Stop cursing me in your mind. Show some respect for your elders, little girl.”
Bakkin was shocked. He guessed I was cursing him? No, it doesn’t seem like a guess…
“Grandpa Figo, Bakkin is always like this.” Linlin turned and said, “Bakkin, you bought me lots of food, and I like that, but I don’t like it when you call me a pig in your mind. I’m not a pig!”
Bakkin’s eyes widened, sweat dripping from her forehead. How…
“The world is vast, little girl. You’re still too inexperienced. Did you not know that masters of Observation Haki can roughly hear others’ thoughts? And you thought you could fool smart Linlin?” Figo said, “Being a pirate has no future. Come with us to see the world, and then follow Linlin as her attendant.”
Bakkin was dumbfounded.
Praised for being smart, Linlin immediately beamed, looking at Figo. Figo patted her big head again and then extended his hand to her. Linlin happily held Figo’s hand.
“Grandpa Figo, why can’t I hear your thoughts at all?”
“Because my Observation Haki is stronger than yours, Linlin still needs to grow.”
“But I can feel that you are a good person, Grandpa Figo…”
“Of course!”
The two boarded the passenger ship, laughing and chatting.
Bakkin stood there, soulless.
