The Most Talented Pirate Hunter Chapter 42

Why

“Impossible! He’s still alive!”

Inside the tavern, every pirate’s mouth was slightly agape, their faces a mixture of shock and disbelief.

At that moment, Hermes leaned back, slowly lifting his head. Smoke was wafting from his forehead, and a bullet slid off his nose, landing on the floor with a clinking sound.

Not only was there no blood, but there wasn’t even a mark.

“This can’t be happening.”

The pirate who fired the shot yelled in anger, preparing to fire again.

Hermes didn’t give him a chance. With a flick of his finger, a sharp crack echoed through the room. The next moment, the pirate’s body jerked, and blood and brain matter began to ooze from a hole in his forehead, the scene visible through the back of his skull.

“Kill him!”

Momos felt a bad premonition.

Perhaps they had encountered a tough opponent.

But adhering to the belief that it’s better to strike first than to be struck, he quickly shouted.

“Disturbing my drinking, that’s a capital offense!”

Hermes was in a foul mood. He had come to this town because of rumors about a band of mountain bandits, supposedly incredibly strong and once having killed a pirate with a bounty of over a hundred million Berries.

Upon hearing this, Hermes got excited, thinking that he might finally find a worthy opponent who could challenge him.

But after coming all this way to face them, he found that the rumors were grossly exaggerated. The leader of the bandits had been spreading false tales to boost his reputation and intimidate others.

He had actually only killed a pirate with a ten-million-Berry bounty, and had exaggerated it tenfold.

The lies were outrageous.

In a fit of anger, Hermes had annihilated the bandits and set their hideout on fire.

In these three years in the Providence Kingdom, he had been undefeated. Initially, he sought out the kingdom’s forces and powerful individuals to hone his skills like Soru and Geppo.

At first, it was challenging, but as he improved, his opponents either fled or were killed. By the time he looked back, no opponents were left to make his blood boil.

For the past three months, Hermes had been feeling lonely.

If it weren’t for his relentless pursuit of challenges within the Providence Kingdom over these three years, the kingdom wouldn’t have recovered its prosperity and peace so quickly.

Of course, King Elisabello II also made significant contributions. Hermes used his strength to crush powerful enemies and forces, while Elisabello cleaned up the aftermath.

Their names became increasingly well-known, revered, and respected by many.

During this time, Hermes acquired numerous nicknames, such as the Grim Reaper, Hunter King, and the King of Hunting.

“Whizz, whizz, whizz!”

Facing the numerous pirates, Hermes showed no fear. He stood up, pointing his fingers at everyone, his face breaking into a devilish smile.

“Finger Pistol: Gatling.”

The air tore apart.

Hermes’ hands blurred into afterimages as a continuous barrage of finger bullets shot out.

Screams echoed incessantly.

“Fight back, fight back!”

Many pirates, their eyes bloodshot with either rage or fear, scrambled for cover. Some found that the thin tables they hid behind offered no protection.

Invisible finger bullets tore through the air, piercing flesh with deadly precision.

Meanwhile, the pirates’ counterattacks did not affect Hermes. Bullets that hit him didn’t leave a mark; at most, they tore holes in his clothes.

“Damn it, who are you?”

The scene was utterly one-sided, like cutting through wheat. The opponent had no gun, so how was he firing bullet-like attacks?

Why?

“Hahaha.”

“Tat-tat-tat-tat!”

Momos’ roar was ignored. The tavern was filled only with maniacal laughter and the continuous sound of rapid fire.

At this moment, Hermes was like a walking Gatling gun. The intensity of the attack caused smoke to rise from his hands.

“What’s happening?”

Outside on the street, many people listened to the sounds of gunfire and screams from within the tavern. Occasionally, parts of the walls would break, and some unlucky onlookers found themselves with their scalps half-shaved, turning them into instant balding men. Terrified, the crowd quickly backed away.

“Help, help!”

Finally, a pirate couldn’t take it anymore, his eyes filled with terror as he ran out of the tavern.

But as soon as he stepped outside, he collapsed. His back was riddled with holes.

After about five minutes, everything went silent.

The people outside, ready to approach and take a look, were suddenly startled by a figure crashing through two buildings in succession, eventually landing in the rubble, coughing up blood.

The large black footprint on his chest was particularly striking.

Gulp!

Many onlookers on both sides of the street swallowed hard, their eyes shifting from the ruins back to the tavern’s entrance. If they hadn’t seen wrong, the one who had just flown out seemed to be Momos, the pirate with a bounty of fifty-eight million Berries.

The same Momos who had just arrogantly thrown them out was now lying in the street, seemingly kicked out.

Finally, a figure appeared in everyone’s view.

With slightly disheveled hair, a pair of somewhat provocative black eyes, and a handsome face that seemed almost delicate, Hermes stood there. Underneath his torn collar, a tattoo of a blood-red flower of the dead was faintly visible on his neck, adding an aura of eerie contradiction and mystery to his appearance.

“Could it be…”

“It must be!”

“He looks so young, and with that crimson tattoo on his neck, it has to be him.”

“That tattoo is said to be the Death Flower, the Red Spider Lily.”

“It’s really Hermes Jormungandr, the Hunter King.”

“Jormungandr hasn’t left yet.”

The onlookers’ expressions turned excited, their gazes burning as they stared at Hermes’ neck. Confirming the tattoo, they felt their blood boil with excitement.

The Momos Pirates had kicked an iron plate.

Let them be arrogant.

Didn’t they realize how many criminal forces Hermes had crushed in these three years? Undefeated, his name alone struck fear into the hearts of pirates and criminals. The Momos Pirates were no match for him.

“Jormungandr!”

“Jormungandr!”

The crowd’s enthusiasm surged. Confirming Hermes’ identity, cheers erupted louder and louder.

Hermes wasn’t surprised.

He had experienced this many times. At first, it had excited him, but after so many times, it had become routine.

“Trying to escape?”

From the rubble, Momos tried to flee, realizing he was no match for Hermes.

Damn it.

Even choosing a random place to eat, he ran into a monster. Damn, his luck.

Bang!

Seeing Momos attempt to flee, Hermes kicked the ground, disappearing from his spot. In the next instant, he reappeared several meters away, only to disappear again before anyone could register his presence.

In just a few breaths, he caught up to Momos.

“Damn it.”

Sensing the movement behind him, Momos turned, his eyes widening in horror. Approaching him was a leg, wrapped in a dark, smoky aura.

Crunch.

His bones couldn’t withstand the force and shattered. Momos barely managed to scream before he flew back, crashing through a series of buildings.

“Still trying to run? Impressive.”

Amidst the falling dust and rubble, Hermes sensed that Momos was still attempting to escape despite his severe injuries.

Hermes had no intention of letting him go. Leaping into the air, he rhythmically stepped on the air, allowing himself to hover before delivering a powerful kick.

“Mini-Enlarge: Crescent Moon.”

The air ripped apart.

A white crescent-shaped slash emerged from Hermes’ kick, growing to ten meters in size, tearing through the air and ground, relentlessly pursuing Momos.

“No!!!”

Momos screamed in despair.

As the ten-meter slash approached, his skin began to tear from the pressure. The slash not only had incredible cutting power but also unstoppable force.
