Marvel’s Princess Chapter 18

Death is Coming

If someone were to teach magic, the learning progress would be much faster.

So the question arises: Who to learn from? Bella is as broke as possible, relying on Charlie for food and shelter. The idea of learning from the Sorcerer Supreme, let alone traveling to New York, is out of the question.

Moreover, due to restrictions following the Flight 180 incident, she’s not even allowed to leave the country. Even if she were free to roam, finding the location of Kamar-Taj is impossible, as it’s not marked on any map.

And wouldn’t her venturing into Kamar-Taj as a trans-dimensional traveler just be asking for trouble? It is better to enjoy the safety of home rather than deliver herself to their doorstep.

Bella saw a lot in Billy Black, the tribal chief. There was a deep connection between their families and her friendship with Jacob, his son. With such deep roots, even organizing a spirit ritual felt as critical as life and death! From this, she inferred that other sorcerers would be even more secretive about their knowledge.

It’s possible she could spend ten years or even longer searching for Kamar-Taj, only to end up with responses like “Don’t know, don’t have, goodbye.”

Putting herself in their shoes, she’d likely greet them with a firm rejection if she were a fully-fledged sorceress and some random person came knocking to learn the craft.

Bella had no choice but to self-study, at least for now.

During the day, she studied various documents and ancient books in class, exercised with classmates during physical education, dominated the games, and occasionally played basketball with the boys. At night, she would go home and do her schoolwork before Charlie.

She kept herself very busy.

Bella hadn’t met Edward Cullen in biology class but bumped into Alice Cullen at a lab bench instead.

This black-haired vampire woman looked at Bella with bright eyes, full of inquiry, as if trying to see through her mental shield.

These folks really couldn’t keep their cool!

Bella put down her book and asked softly, “I remember that you don’t have biology today, Miss Cullen?”

“That’s not important, don’t you think?”

“I think it is important because I like order, so I hope everyone else adheres to it,” Bella adjusted the microscope on the lab bench.

The casual, black-haired Alice flipped through a book, “You’re not an ordinary person, right?”

“I’m just an ordinary person, and class is starting.”

In this class, Bella didn’t delve into her ancient feudal superstitions but followed the teacher’s rhythm, attending a genuine biology lesson.

Whenever she didn’t understand something, she asked Alice Cullen next to her.

These vampires suffered, too, stuck at eighteen or nineteen, endlessly cycling through high school and college. Once there’s suspicion about their age, they must immediately move and find another place to continue their endless high school and college cycle.

Over a hundred years, they’ve gone through this dozens of times. It’s said their home is lined with diplomas.

With the same textbooks studied repeatedly, even a fool would become a top student after a century!

Some of Bella’s questions were too familiar to Alice Cullen, who explained them offhand, more precise than the teacher up front.

“Thank you! You explain it so well!” When someone answered her questions, Bella didn’t skimp on praise, earning a curious glance from Alice Cullen.

It was day 40 after the Flight 180 crash.

Theoretically, starting today, it’s the day when the Grim Reaper takes revenge on the survivors.

Forks had a night of rain, leaving a chill in the air. Bella rode her bike to school.

After parking her bike, she removed her gloves, breathed on her somewhat cold hands to warm them up, and gloomily pulled out her wallet.

Having spent money on photocopying documents yesterday, her wallet had shrunk again, leaving only a few tens of dollars from what was once a thousand.

She really couldn’t bring herself to ask Charlie for money. He wasn’t her real dad; he was already providing for her needs, asking for more money. Bella couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Forks was so small she really couldn’t see any business opportunities.

She also didn’t want to abuse her superhuman abilities. Integrity is the foundation; she could go further without doing anything underhanded.

Bella was incredibly gloomy; she had no means of making money. She couldn’t possibly get a job, could she?

This is too hard!

She carefully looked at the few bills left in her wallet and shook her head in resignation.

Just as she was lamenting her poverty, a loud, piercing screech of brakes sounded not far away.

Bella suddenly looked up, her gaze sharp.

A dark blue van was heading towards her, its tires locked, but the water on the road allowed the vehicle to continue moving by inertia toward her position.

A premonition of death made her realize immediately that something had targeted her; Death had arrived!

Just a broken van, you underestimate me!

When the van was about three meters away, she slightly bent her knees, planning to jump out once the truck completely blocked the view of other students.

After all, she still had to attend this school, and a student who jumps ten meters fundamentally differs from an average person.

Unfortunately, she underestimated something like the trajectory of fate.

Just then, the frail vampire Edward Cullen was passing by not far from her. As if possessed, he quickly leaped next to Bella and extended a hand toward the van, trying to push it away.

Bella had constantly reminded herself not to make exaggerated movements in front of her classmates. Suddenly, out of her eyes, she noticed someone had joined her!

Without time to think or see who it was, worried that the passerby student might get hurt or even killed if she jumped away, she instinctively held back and changed from jumping to pushing, also extending her right hand to brace against the van’s door.

On the left and right, both hands simultaneously pressed against the side of the van. The vampire’s strength was great, causing a considerable dent in the side of the truck.

Bella’s side also left a dent in the side of the van, but unlike the vampire’s pure strength, her psychic power refracted outward, coating it with a layer of delicate frost, which then flaked off, causing a large patch of the van’s paint to peel off.

Two palm-shaped large dents, one on each side, looked very eerie. The driver of the van, also a student at the school, was now slumped over the steering wheel, his forehead covered in blood, obviously having fainted.

Bella turned around, looking at the vampire with a rather gloomy expression. Are you sick? Can’t you see I could handle it myself?

The vampire knew his intervention was extra, but he was used to acting superbly, and even now, he still had an arrogant demeanor.

Fine! You’re awesome! Just stay here, then!

Bella was somewhat worried internally. The premonition of death couldn’t be fake; viewed in isolation, this was just a case of brake failure on a rainy day, but combined with the Flight 180 incident, it was something to ponder.
