Chapter 79: Konoha High-Level Meeting
Shisui hadn’t anticipated the gravity of the situation, and he immediately felt a sense of panic.
He always believed he was doing the right thing while those crazy clansmen were all wrong. But after listening to Hyuga Kyo, he vaguely realized that his confession to the village’s higher-ups might have inadvertently pushed the Uchiha clan deeper into the abyss.
Deeply bowing to Hyuga Kyo, Shisui sincerely said, “Senpai, I would never use Kotoamatsukami on my comrades. Please believe that.”
Hyuga Kyo shook his head. “This isn’t about trust. Facing someone who can alter your will at any moment is inherently terrifying and unsettling, even for me.”
Shisui, feeling despondent, said, “But I…”
“Whether you are loyal to Konoha or upright and kind, as long as you possess the power to control others’ wills, you will always be seen as a threat in others’ eyes.” After a pause, Hyuga Kyo added, “Ultimately, Kotoamatsukami is simply too disconcerting.”
Realizing the core issue, Shisui urgently asked, “Senpai, is there any way to fix this?”
With his hand on his chin, Hyuga Kyo pondered momentarily and replied, “For now, I don’t have a good solution. But you should avoid doing anything unnecessary. The village is still negotiating with Kumogakure, so they won’t act against the Uchiha immediately. As for the future, we’ll deal with it then.”
The problem with Shisui lies in Kotoamatsukami. As long as he possesses his Mangekyo Sharingan, the village’s higher-ups will never fully accept him.
Shisui nodded silently.
Remembering that Obito was also causing trouble outside the village, Hyuga Kyo advised, “By the way, keep an eye out for suspicious individuals near your clan’s territory.”
“You mean?”
“A year ago, during the Nine-Tails’ attack, I wasn’t in the village, but the information I gathered indicates that the Nine-Tails was indeed controlled by the Sharingan.”
Shisui’s face turned grim. “Senpai, do you suspect the Uchiha clan orchestrated the Nine-Tails incident?”
“The facts are there; it’s inevitable the Uchiha are suspected,” Hyuga Kyo replied. “And even if it was an Uchiha, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was someone from the village.”
Shisui, recalling something, fell into deep thought.
In the Uchiha’s recent history, several clan members had left the village or disappeared mysteriously, with Uchiha Madara being the most notable among them.
Thus, the possibility of Uchiha bloodlines existing outside Konoha was not out of the question.
After chatting for a while longer, Shisui left. Watching him depart, Hyuga Kyo shook his head.
As the most talented ninja of his generation in the Uchiha clan, Shisui was nearly flawless in every aspect. However, he was still too naive to understand human nature.
In Hyuga Kyo’s previous life memories, Shisui, who was almost unbeatable one-on-one, died a pathetic death, largely due to his personality.

The Third Hokage was discussing the peace talks with Kumogakure with the three advisors. When the secret mission of Team Eleven was mentioned, the Third Hokage clapped his hands.
Hearing the signal, Kakashi, who had been waiting outside, entered the meeting room and reported to the three advisors the entire process of Team Eleven completing their mission.
After Kakashi finished, the Third Hokage said, “You may leave now.”
Kakashi nodded and left the room.
Koharu Utatane commented, “So, it was Team Eleven’s harassment of Kumogakure’s supply lines that forced them to slow their advance. Team Eleven has indeed done a great service for the village.”
Homura Mitokado agreed, “Yes, we should consider promoting and rewarding Team Eleven.”
Danzo interjected, “The information my Root received doesn’t align with that.”
Both advisors, as well as the Third Hokage, turned to Danzo, waiting for his explanation.
Danzo coldly stated, “Kumogakure’s sudden slowdown is due to significant losses in their rear. Reportedly, over three hundred Kumogakure ninjas, including several elite jonin, were killed in one night. Even the Fourth Raikage left Kumogakure because of it.”
“This…”
The two advisors exchanged worried glances.
The Third Hokage immediately recalled Shisui, who had confessed his Mangekyo Sharingan to him the day before. His face turned grim as he puffed on his pipe without speaking.
Danzo stood up and questioned, “Why did Team Eleven not report this? Why would they hide such an achievement?”
Koharu asked the Third Hokage seriously, “Does Team Eleven really possess such strength?”
The implication was clear: if Team Eleven could eliminate over three hundred ninjas in one night, then at least one member had Kage-level strength.
The Third Hokage reluctantly said, “Uchiha Shisui has awakened the legendary Mangekyo Sharingan.”
Koharu was shocked and then frowned. “That’s the cursed power from the legends. I can’t believe another Uchiha has awakened it.”
Homura murmured, “Could it be another Madara Uchiha?”
Danzo pressed on, his tone icy, “Hiruzen, it seems you left out one crucial detail.”
The Third Hokage glared at Danzo, his eyes sharp.
Unfazed by the Hokage’s stare, Danzo continued, “Uchiha Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan can cast a forbidden technique called ‘Kotoamatsukami,’ which can instantly alter a person’s will, turning them into a puppet.”
“What!?”
Koharu and Homura were both horrified.
Observing his colleagues’ shocked expressions, Danzo smirked coldly and proposed, “I suggest we immediately take decisive action against Uchiha Shisui.”
After a moment of stunned silence, both Koharu and Homura agreed, “We concur.”
The Third Hokage firmly shook his head. “Shisui is our bridge to the Uchiha clan. If we take action against him, it will provoke the entire Uchiha clan. With the village in critical negotiations with Kumogakure, any internal conflict could have disastrous consequences.”
Having anticipated this response, Danzo compromised, “Then let’s place Uchiha Shisui under surveillance by Root.”
After some deliberation, the Third Hokage reluctantly nodded.
Satisfied with this concession, Danzo recalled how Hyuga Kyo refused his invitation the previous day. He added, “Team Eleven concealed crucial information, casting doubt on their loyalty. I propose placing all of Team Eleven under surveillance as well…”
