Lover’s Lane.
Hermes had randomly chosen a couples’ hotel for the night. The decor was pink and cozy, with an array of items for couples’ activities, many of which Hermes had never seen before.
It seemed this place had much to teach, and he would need to remain humble and learn diligently in the future.
Meanwhile, Lao G and Baby-5 had mobilized the Donquixote Family’s forces to search for Hermes. Months ago, they had already infiltrated Dressrosa, preparing for the upcoming takeover.
Finding someone was an easy task, especially with the information obtained from Jora’s subordinates and the right incentives. As long as Hermes remained in Dressrosa, it was only a matter of time before they found him.
Even the royal palace had been infiltrated, with many officials and guards already bribed. From the start, King Riku was at a disadvantage. Doflamingo’s demand for 100 billion Berries was simply a tactic to avoid using force and attracting the World Government’s attention.
Doflamingo was a man of both intelligence and courage.
The night passed uneventfully.
Hermes slept soundly, likely due to the comfortable atmosphere of the room. He thought it might be time to address his physiological needs. After all, there were many beautiful women in the pirate world.
He was always more focused on physical pleasure than emotional attachment.
“Boom!!!”
Early in the morning, a rocket-propelled grenade whistled through the air and exploded just outside Hermes’ room. Smoke and flames quickly filled the sky, causing couples throughout the hotel to wake up screaming.
Some men, in the midst of intimate activities, were left impotent and cursing loudly.
“Baby-5, you’re too impulsive. Blowing things up early in the morning disturbs everyone’s sleep.”
On the rooftop of a building across from the hotel, Lao G glanced at Baby-5, whose right hand had transformed into a smoking RPG launcher. The blast had been her doing.
As a Weapon-Weapon Fruit user, Baby-5 could transform any part of her body into a weapon, whether cold or hot. If Hermes had consumed this Devil Fruit, he could potentially wield powerful weapons like Little Boy, Tsar Bomba, or even sci-fi weapons like planet-destroying cannons.
“Mind your own business when I’m working,” Baby-5 retorted, cigarette dangling from her lips, exuding the aura of a mob boss. Despite her maid outfit and delicate features, she radiated a unique charm.
“G~”
Lao G knew Baby-5’s temperament well and wasn’t bothered by her response. He seemed accustomed to her behavior.
“Go, check if the target is dead,” Baby-5 ordered, looking down at a group of ten men below. These were members of the Donquixote Family, essentially cannon fodder.
“Yes, Lady Baby-5.”
The men straightened up and rushed into the hotel with their guns.
Five minutes passed.
Lao G and Baby-5 frowned, sensing something amiss.
Why was there no noise?
As the smoke cleared, the interior of the room became visible through the shattered walls. Their men lay in pools of blood, dead.
“Where is he?”
Baby-5 blew smoke rings.
“Don’t you know that sleep is sacred? You greet me with a rocket, quite a bold introduction!”
Suddenly, Baby-5 and Lao G’s expressions changed, their bodies tensing as they turned to face the voice. Not far behind them, perched on a chimney, was a bare-chested man with messy black hair, watching them with a blank expression.
What the hell?
When did he appear?
“G~”
“Are you the Hunter King, Hermes Jormungandr?” Lao G asked, his tone serious, but his eyes filled with hostility.
Bang!!!
A bullet whizzed by, striking Hermes squarely on the forehead, causing him to lean back slightly. Baby 5, whose right hand had transformed into a gun, was responsible.
“His features match. Why waste time talking?” Baby 5 flicked her hair, eager to finish the job quickly and go shopping for new maid outfits. This trip was too valuable to waste.
“No wonder you’re one of Doflamingo’s subordinates, you’re bold and gutsy!”
“Woman, you’ve piqued my interest.”
Hermes straightened up, catching the bullet between his fingers, his forehead barely reddened.
He recognized both of them immediately.
The veiny old man was Lao G, known for his unique martial art. The woman, famous for her Weapon-Weapon Fruit abilities, was equally formidable.
“Impossible.”
Lao G and Baby-5 stared at Hermes’ unharmed forehead, their expressions growing more serious.
From the intel, this guy was suspected of knowing the Navy’s Six Powers.
It had to be Tekkai.
But to master Tekkai to this extent was impressive.
Still, Baby-5 wasn’t convinced. Her delicate face turned fierce as her gun hand transformed into a sniper rifle, significantly increasing its piercing power.
She was determined to break his defense.
Just as she aimed, Hermes spoke.
“Baby-5, I need you.”
Upon hearing this, Lao G’s serious expression crumbled, a sense of dread creeping up.
Baby-5’s fierce demeanor instantly softened, her sniper rifle hand transforming back as she blushed and clasped her hands over her chest, eyes filled with anticipation, like a puppy waiting for its owner’s affection.
“Really? Am I needed?”
“Yes, I need you to take out Lao G.”
Hermes’ eyes gleamed with curiosity. This wasn’t just a quirk; it was a deep-rooted psychological disorder, beyond cure.
“Baby-5, snap out of it.”
Lao G’s face turned green as Baby-5 aimed her gun hand at him, eyes glazed, and fired.
“Damn it.”
Lao G narrowly dodged, cursing internally. Baby 5 was a traitor.
He would definitely report this to Doflamingo.
“Baby-5, wake up. He’s the enemy.”
Baby-5 fired once, then snapped out of it, apologizing half-heartedly.
“Damn it, how do you know Baby-5’s weakness?”
Lao G’s face twisted in anger, glaring at Hermes. Before he could react, his expression darkened again.
“Baby-5, I need you to take out Lao G.”
“I’m needed again.”
Bang!!!
“Baby-5!!!”
Lao G roared, narrowly avoiding another shot. This wasn’t working.
“I didn’t mean to,” Baby-5 apologized, looking flustered.
“Baby-5, I need you…”
Bang!!!
“Baby-5, get out of here. I’m reporting you to the boss. You’re a traitorous hindrance.”
“I didn’t mean to. I can’t control it. Bang!”
“Damn it, damn it.”
Hermes watched the scene unfold with amusement. Every time Baby-5 paused, he would call out that he needed her, proving that the world was indeed entire of oddities and mental illnesses.
Back when he watched the anime, he found it funny and exaggerated, but now…
